  1. Fantastic! Awesome! Can't wait for more!

  2. I missed the last 2 minutes thx to the stream being cut, but other than that... nice!

  3. I thought it was very
good. I find the notion of these new shapeshifters spooky; how do you keep up
when you can't even know who they are? Wasn't it Carla Warren who said that
"Some things shouldn't be tampered with"? That they were God's. I was
interrupted during the episode and am not sure whether the implication of that
line was put anywhere else. But it was very prominent and just came out of left
field. Olivia going through a timeslip was another great moment.

Other than that, I found the rest a little frustrating. Peter
mostly interacted with Broyles and was mainly sidelined in his own return. His
interactions with Walter were absolutely heartbreaking, but too short for my
liking. Olivia hardly said two words to him or vice versa, which I was
disappointed with. I almost thought she would really rail on him after what upsetting
Walter, and because he knows a lot about her. I thought she would take that
more personally and act more aggressively like we've seen her do to suspects in
the past, but I can fully understand her avoidance and confusion. Ultimately, I
think I would have enjoyed the episode more if there hadn't been such massive
    anticipation about having Peter back.

But I really enjoyed Peter's attitude in the episode. It seemed to
switch between him being absolutely crushed and compensating by falling back on
his old snark and his ability to manipulate, which we haven't seen in ages.
Eavesdropping and dropping into a conversation in the FBI while he’s in
containment was absolutely hilarious and classic season 1 Peter.

  4. Great episode.

I swear though if we get another love triangle I am going to be very upset with the writers of Fringe.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I really wasn't happy with that. I'm going to try my best to ignore some of the stuff they keep dropping in there and hope it goes absolutely nowhere.

  6. Sometimes new versions seem like almost a step backwards, but these shapeshifters are seriously BAD ASS! Mercury blood was cool, but the bio-versions are much creepier!

    Nina the nanny? XD

I absolutely LOVED Peter's return to his pre-Fringe days attitude. Roguish and calculated is a good look on him!

I for one am very glad they did not have some Walter and Peter bonding fest! One thing we know is that Walter does not handle change well and this Peter's arrival is massive!  He would need a good deal of time to process and work past the emotions and fears.

The Agent Warrick twist was obvious and I'm surprised Olivia did not "feel" it. Both Lincoln and Olivia have shown that intuition skill in this timeline.

The return of the inter-dimensional typewriter!

That was a great ending for fans!

  7. Want a recap of the last 2 minutes Rick? Or better to wait and view it later?

  8. I got a minimal one on the chat stream, but I will def be watching this one L8er.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Okey doke. Thought I'd check....

  10. I'm not a fan of love-triangles either, but the creative team at Fringe uses triangles so well to expose character emotions and aspects.... Well, I guess I trust them.

I enjoyed Olivia/ Peter/ Fauxlivia and I trust TPTB to write something as brilliant as that plot.

I hope there's no frickin babies this time around though! XD

  11. Poor Peter, but it's necesary, it can't be that easy his return and everyone accepting what he's saying, especially not Walter, after everything he'd lost.
Olivia seeing and experiencing the alternate universe again? Can't wait to see what other "powers" she'll have this season.
I don't see the Olivia invitation to Linc as a potencial romantic thing. I think she just knew that it was a hard case for him because he lost his parter at the hands of this shifters, and just wanted to be a friend. Plus she was very uncomfortable with Peter, maybe she wanted to escape from that feeling.
Still, great episode, next one looks even better.

  12. The episode was worth waiting for. The new, improved, shapeshifters add quite a scary dynamic. I loved how Peter fell back into form, seeing something to fix and begging to be able to do it. I felt so sad for him at the end.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Seriously. I love Lincoln. I love Olivia. But I am deeply uninterested in any sort of suggestion of Lincoln/Olivia.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I was expecting a 1 second appearance of you-probably-know-who at the end of the episode. Aaaah, I can't wait for "that" return now that Peter's back. Great episode for answers, it really cleared up a lot while not enough at the same time. Classic Fringe. I loved how Walter admitted he blamed Nina for Peter's death and all of the Peter scenes. Must watch again.

  15. Well I rated this epi awesome! Who rated it awful? I wanna know who gave it that... Anyways, I cannot wait to see where things take us next week! YAY! I hope the ratings numbers are good... *Crosses fingers for luck*

  16. Awesome ep! Even though they were short, the Peter/Walter interactions were sooo moving. I know it will take a bit of time until Peter completely earns their trust, but I can't help but wonder if we'll see Walternate any time soon and if Peter will interact with him. As for any potential triangles, I 'm hoping that they don't do it, but I do sense a bromance as Lincoln seemed to be more open to giving Peter a chance than anyone else at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I loved how confused Peter was when confronted by Walter in this universe. I loved how they had placed him in a cell like he would do something horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I am waiting for Peter and Fauxlivia meeting. That will be epic! I wonder if She will like him better than our Olivia?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Amazing episode which explained a few things about this new time line like why Nina and Walter hated each other and Nina's relationship with Olivia.

I adored the Walter/Peter scenes and the Walter/Nina scene but I think the standout moment for me was when Walter was looking through Peter's things and found the coin - the look on his face was heartbreaking.

I wouldn't worry about a love triangle between Lincoln/Olivia/Peter I don't see it happening at all. I think Olivia just wanted the company because Peter freaks her out so much. I'm hoping Alt Linc and Liv will get together in the end though

    ReplyDelete
  20. i really hope something happens with lincoln and olivia! i loved the fauxlivia/peter/olivia triangle last season, i hope the writers go for it!!!

  21. Good morning! A few more thoughts today:

    1. Was that a Bunsen burner Walter used to heat milk?
    2. What was with the handprint glyph?
    3. Anyone see the observer? I forgot to look.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Awesome episode. It's good seeing Fringe getting away from caes of the week. Was it just my imagination or is there a shapeshifter in headquarters now?  At the end of the show an agent handed Olivia a report. A few moments later the same agent handed her another one. Olivia said 'Didn't we just do this?' At that moment I'm certain I saw a change in the other agents face. From Olivia's reaction I think she saw something also.  Peter had tracked two of them in the city earlier.

    ReplyDelete
  23. That was awesome, can't wait for next week!

    ReplyDelete
  24. 1. Yes.
    2. Didn't notice anything...?
    3. Nope I missed him twice!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Just that Peter put his hand on something. Guess I better rewatch.

    ReplyDelete
  26. That was a time blip.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I did notice that his touch seemed to affect Walter in more than just a normal "Ghost Guy" appearing in his world type of way. I'm thinking a Desmond from LOST kinda way.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I loved this episode! Poor Walter, he sure has trouble coping, and now with Peter back its really going to throw him for a loop.I wonder how long its going to take Walter to believe Peter is his son,if he will ever accept that Peter is alive (at least in this reality)So many things went on last night that i didn't catch it all. To make matters worse my DVR is not recording and Time Warner cannot get here until the 11th.I need to chop down some trees so Dish could get a signal,oh razemgrazemitsalwayssomething!!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. In Walters reality since Peter is dead,to have a man who might look like Peter all grown up touch him that way must of be a shock, and probably at the same time something that just could not be....
That is my take on it anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  30. The Walter/Peter scenes stole the show.  Walter expressing that he doesn't think he deserves a second chance was an Emmy-worthy scene.

    ReplyDelete
  31. ...Also I totally forgot that this Walter is an obsessive compulsive freak. He probably just felt all the potential germs transferring onto him. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  32. yesss!! totally agreed, and i just want a little bit lincoln and Olivia together...she can stay a season with him...=)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks, I was a bit confused about that sequence too. At first I thought it was a shapeshifter, and then I kept thinking about the "deja vu as a glitch in the Matirx", then it made me think about the time blips that Olivia experienced when Peter and the blue energy blob cause her to experience a 2 min flash forward in time.... not sure why she's still experiencing it now that he's corporeal, butI'm sure it will be expanded on.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Wasn't there last season a table with the episodes sorted by the SpoilerTV User ratings? Just rembered it.. does anyone know why there is none this year? I guess it was a change announced in summer?

    ReplyDelete
  35. You may well be right about the time blip. I watched the episode again on a friend's dvd. The scenes were identical. The slight, split seconds long change in the other agents face was still there though.  Perhaps it was a defect in the lighting?

    ReplyDelete
  36. I was thinking the same thing. The two Walters fighting over Peter, and Peter having to referee.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I thought  in the same order as you... shapeshifter, time blip and then why a time blip?

It make me wonder if Olivia is out of tune with this time line more than we suspect...

Or is this the impending arrival of David Robert Jones using Olivia as a conduit much like Peter used her to be pulled into this timeline?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ah, finally I also could watch Novation.
Yeah, the time shifts don't seem to stop and maybe there is something bigger happening which cause them, not only the blue Peter apparition a few weeks ago,

I also suspect that maybe an old player from a previous season like David Robert Jones might be behind it. Walternate would be too obvious.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I voted Awesome!

Here are my thoughts which I wrote on the forum earlier today!

Although Peter's story didn't progress far, I like the ideas presented with continuing on with the humanoid shapeshifters (Nadine Park---also a Alias and Lost reference, as Nadine is french form of Nadia. Nadia was Sydeny Bristow's half sister and "the passenger" in Alias, and in LOST Nadia was Sayid's love interest and eventual wife. There was also a french scientist on Rousseau's team named Nadine. All of which are brutally murdered. -----by Sloane, Jacob, and MIB) Nadine was brutally murdered by the shapeshifter....it will be interesting to see if the Shapeshifter will be murdered too, since she seems to choose the identity of Nadine as her default appearance...I still believe that the shapeshifters (both sets) along with Milo Stanfield (man from "The Plateau"), represent steps in the evolution of the Observers. This episode tied back nicely to some things in season 3, specifically those things presented in "Do Shapeshifters Dream of Electric Sheep?". That episode is one of my favorites because I like how the one shapeshifter didn't want to loose his new family, how he believed he was human and really didn't want to be a soldier/spy, and how Newton became competitive towards red Olivia, showing his own hostile emotions, but also suggesting that humanity is weak and acting as though shapeshifters were a better species, better at survival of the fittest because they had no regrets (which clearly wasn't true). It plays on how we treat the things we create (Frankenstein) and how those things can get out of control, especially with out having continued compassion.I like going about the story this way, because it throws Peter into their world and not the other way around. It emphizes on Walter's thoughts that this Peter is just a third version of his son...and Peter is a stranger here.Back to the type writer, which was a niffty shade of green, I am not sure If it's still going to be Walternate (or his own) receiving messages on the other side. It's true Olivia asked the other Olivia about the new shapeshifters, accusing Walternate of making new ones, but I think the plot would be much better if he isn't the ring leader on this and if either the old shapeshifters chose to evolve on their own, or if we are dealing with corrupt criminals again (terrorists) like ZFT....Another possibility is Nina Sharp. I don't think they told us how this William Bell died, but it's clear that Walter is not in charge of MD, and because Peter wasn't there, I have to imagine the events in the season 2 finale ("Over There" Pt 1 & 2) leading into season 3 are different....It could be that Nina lied about what was in the will and took over MD of her own accord....she's a little too interested in Peter IMO, considering how much this blue Walter hates her, and I generally trust Walter's skpetesims.I can now kind of see what the Lincoln Lees represent...Benevolence! (goodwill, balance, and restoration) He wouldn't go eat with blue Olivia, because he disproves of her not trying harder to help Peter and let him connect with Walter. I think it's clear thinking about both previous red and blue Lee's that they are the characters who are there to help balance things out and restore order and reminds others what is really important. Red Lee often served in the role of Peter Bishop over there and was apart of one the most important moments in red Olivia's life, and blue Lee helped Peter with a women who wasn't able to be able to go where she belonged with her family (Dana Gray "Stowaway") ---But Dana had to save those people on the train before she could leave and so it stands to reason Peter has some task he must do in order to get back to where he belongs, with his family--his Walter and his Olivia...

  40. I'm glad they wigged to Agent Warrick quickly....otherwise only Peter could reveal...they did that before (with Olivia's first partner)

It's the wireless version of the inter-dimensional typewriter.  Loved that.

  41. I was finally able to watch the episode and it was amazing!! I love how S4 is developing and I'm pretty sure we're going to get flabbergasted  at  the end...

  42. Anyone noticed the increasing black border in the orange opening? I wonder if this will continue and if it means something

  43. Interesting! In the new Beyond the FRINGE comic series there are "A" story lines, which are cannon, and "B" story lines which are not cannon, as they are other alternate universe, but I do think they still relate to things in the show...The first B story line was a what if Peters never died or were stolen, because Walter never figured out how to build a door...Teenage blue Peter is about to get a paper published on black matter...Walter is too busy to really pay attention...Peter meets teenage blue Olivia and talking with her makes him realize that his black matter may be the key to building a door...

    ReplyDelete
  44. Loved it. The Walter/Peter scenes were heartbreaking. Can't wait to see how Peter's interactions with Walter develop. Same with Olivia - she was rattled by Peter and it'll be interesting to see how that relationship moves on - will she find out about their relationship? I didn't see anything to indicate anything between Olivia and Lincoln - I think she wanted company after the Peter shock and to offer support to Lincoln since he was obviously thinking of his partner being murdered by a shifter. Looking forward to seeing how the shapeshifter storyline and Olivia's time blip develop. Both very intriguing.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I just agree with you about Olivia. I don't understand her behaviour right now. But I really enjoyed this awesome episode and now I cannot wait for the next :-)

    ReplyDelete
  46. I just finished it, and I thought it was great! Fringe really is one of the few constantly good shows.

The interactions between Peter and Walter were superb in my opinion, it's just a shame that they hardly confronted him and Olivia, since they have such a connection too. And Nina being their 'nanny'? What th was that all about? I mean, what is different now, that made her raise  them, than when Peter HAD been there?

And Olivia's lapse in time! Loved it, but what th was that about? I'm going to watch the promo/sneak peek right now, so maybe (hopefully not) it will shed some light! Can't wait for next week ;)

  47. Nope,i did not notice,do you know when it started?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Wow,you had my attention wish you finised!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Need to read this again, its all very interesting.Would you happen to know if JJ Abrams had a direct hand in this episode?I was thinking about Nadia in Alias,so i was wondering what the connection is,if any?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Did anyone see the observer?

    ReplyDelete
  51. yep, I did notice that .. at first I thought they added more red but they're darker..

    ReplyDelete
  52. Seems you get the same response i get when i ask who voted awful,or poor, nice to know i am not the only one asking!.....Maybe one day we will get an answer, but i will not hold my breath! :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. yep .. saw him when Olivia first arrived @ Trust's house .. you can see the observer standing on the opposite direction of the house..

    ReplyDelete
  55. Thanks, must of missed it,i'll check when i watch again!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I don't know how much he is directly is involved, but I am pretty confident that all of Bad Robot writers are in on each others work and often make HUGE riffs to each others works (I paralleld Peter to Desmond all through season 3 and suddenly my thoughts were justified in LSD when a McCutchen bottle appeared in William Bell's office...) Think about Red Olivia, Claire Littleton, and Sydney Bristow...all have crazy pregnant abductions and give birth in a strange place under strange circumstances. Julie Emmerik (Felicity) and John Locke are both adopted children who's biological father's need kidneys...Julie lets her dad die, John get conned and gives his dad his Kidney, but still dies second hand by James Ford....

I don't know if there will be any more direct references to any of Nadia's besides the brutal deaths....but if I remember right Nadia means "hope" and hope is thematic to all Abrams/Bad Robot works...It might not be bad idea to think about the role of "the passenger" --and like the shapeshifters, Nadia of Alias does get sick...

  57. My idea which im hoping is true lol But i believe the person behind the new shape shifters is peters and alt-olivia baby that was born on the other side and stolen by walternate. think bout it walternate hasnt been seen nor heard from. Alt olivia also has no idea where or who send them, secondly they havent really mentioned to us on what happened to the baby when two worlds came together and peter disappeared. If u remember correctly walternate wanted that baby so he can raise him to become like walternate a ruthless.power hungry politican who eliminates whoever stands in his way. Now notice shape shifters were introduced beginning of s4 where peter was beginning to bleed into our universe during the end of the episode. then they appeared after peter came to full physical contact with our world. The orange world in my opinion is the third world created after blue and red were fused together causing a change in history where peter doesnt exist and possible accelerated time and space on the orange world thus bring new shape shifters. walternate has knowledge of the old shape shifters and taught everytin to his grandson giving him the knowledge to create them with help of the doctors research making the new shape shifters.....think bout my suppose idea lol

one more thing towards the end when the message stated: UNDERSTOOD. BEGIN PREPARATIONS  WE'RE SENDING OTHERS. i believe thats coming from the orange world not the red one because u gotta remember walternate created those old shape shifters to invade our blue world and help waternate take it over after wat walter did, walternate didnt have the advanced knowledge of cell re replication in the red world till we found out in the orange world the third world that was created by fusing red and blue together where in the orange world the rules have changed.

  58. I missed it too!

  59. Thanks! I watched three times and was scouring my computer screen looking for him. It looks like January is assigned to Olivia. While September is assigned to Peter. Or maybe it just a coincidence.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Actually the more I look, it looks like September is in this pic. So nevermind.  :p

    ReplyDelete
  61. I thought maybe it's reality shifting again.  When Peter was erased it altered reality.  Now, with Peter back, maybe reality is starting to adjust all over again.
