"Symphony of Illumination" — When Robin receives bad news, she decides to lie about it to the gang. Meanwhile, Marshall hangs Christmas decorations on the house in the ‘burbs with help from his neighbor, on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, Monday, Dec. 5 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

    Yup, saw that a few minutes ago.

    I think it's either a fantasy of Robin or Barney's, or a flash forward to their family. Because Barney/Robin are endgame and I don't care what anyone else says.

    guys, mainly because of the girl, I think the "daughter" and the "son" are Ted's kids. they appear at the beginning of almost every episode.

    They aren't. The "daughter" and the "son" are the same people. A casting call went out weeks ago for Robin's kids - One that's blonde. So it's hers. And most  likely Barney's.

    Maybe that's the story of how Robin lost her first child, coz that's the only bad news I can think of, though I don't know why she'd hide it from everybody. Or maybe the baby has some problem.

    Honestly, I think the bad news is going to be she IS pregnant. And then she's going to lie and say it was a false alarm, because Robin's default setting is pretend a problem doesn't exist and hope it goes away. But there's no way this is a false alarm - they've already done that once before on the show, and they've also had Robin mess around with Barney by saying she's pregnant when she wasn't (in Right Time Right Place), there's no reason to repeat that storyline. Plus, most telling of all - Robin was so bipolar and screamy last episode, it's got to be pregnancy hormones. I'm really excited for this story - so many possibilities!! And so much scope for humor/drama!!

     It's more likely that the bad news is that it is a false alarm and she can't have kids. So she thinks about what her life would have been like if she was able to have Barney's kids(the casting call).

    if you look up the names of the kids who play ted's kids---they are different than the names of the two kids listed in the next episode. They also look completely different! And the boy is blonde like barney!!!

    No, I don't think it's going to be a false alarm at all now. 100% convinced of a miscarriage. And the thing with the two kids? Flash forward, to show that everything turns out fine for Barney/Robin. They deal with the miscarriage and have kids.

    If they indeed turn out to be Robin's kids, I'll be really disappointed. She stated previously she doesn't want any kids. That's the only thing not fitting with her and Barney, except it's a MAJOR problem. And with the show's obsession over the traditional family and everyone having kids lately, I have the feeling that they are indeed going to go against Robin and her no-kids nature established earlier.

    I think the bad news is something other than the pregnancy, but at the same  time, robin tries to hide the fact that she is pregnant from the rest of the gang. Or the news could just be that she is pregnant.

    I agree. I think the bad news is that she is pregnant. Because it is bad news to her since she doesn't want kids. And if it is Barney's, then that means she has to tell Kevin the truth.

    I think maybe Robin is having Barney's baby and they want the baby to be born after they get married and so its a rush wedding and that's why Barney gets married.
