Wow. It's so hard to believe! Love Hugh.
ReplyDeleteWow, i didn't think there would have been another season of House, but i didn't expect him to quit acting all together.Wonder whats next for him?
ReplyDeleteMore time for concerts ;) Can't wait to see him live again :)
ReplyDeleteif he leeve television for that reason no way he will create something new & diferent.
ReplyDeleteI imagine he will do films or theatre
ReplyDeleteFrom the quotes in that interview I'm having a hard time trying to make out where exactly he has said that he will be quitting?
ReplyDeleteHe'll quit until his money start to decrease ;] big deal
ReplyDeleteHe's established himself as a musician in his own right, not to mention his novel that's selling well. He doesn't need TV and apparently "House" requires 12-hour days for 8 days straight (to shoot one episode). So, sure, he works only 25 weeks a year so we'd all do it if we could, but the point is: we can't, and he can. So, he can choose what he wants to do with his time after a long career in TV.
ReplyDeleteHe may do the odd cameo on QI and certain panel shows, but personally I can't blame him, considering the hours he has to work.
ReplyDeleteHugh will probably still make movies. So while we won't see him every week we're likely to see him in a movie every year. Not as much fun but something to look forward to.
ReplyDeleteNone of the quotes from Hugh are nearly as concrete as the article wants you to think. It looked more like he was doing his usual self-deprecating style and actually more talking about how he wouldn't be wanted on tv and wouldn't be lucky enough to have success at it a second time. Plus, even if he was saying he'd never do tv again, he wouldn't be the first to go back on that vow, and British TV isn't nearly as intense of a work schedule. Basically, I think this article is meaningless.
ReplyDeleteHe doubt he would do theatre. He did a play once as a favour to Ben Elton and found it terrifying. Although maybe House has give him more confidence.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's true! But if it is, then he will have more time for music and books I guess. And to go on stage.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I have read several of the articles that announced this and have not seen one where Mr. Laurie actually stated he was quitting.
ReplyDeleteIf it's like any of the other cr*p papers like this it's making it up in order to sell papers, I believe this one sells only about 300k yet they will prob fool a lot of those into thinking they have a Hollywood exclusive, lol. They cobble a few quotes that make it sound like what they are saying is true, pretty standard fair unfortunately :(
ReplyDeleteWasnt it reported before that he gets 600,000 per episode? i honeslty dunno why i even care :D
ReplyDeleteMaybe he can come back along with "Mr. Bean" and try a remake of Black Adder :))
ReplyDeleteProbably fabricated from god knows where to increase viewers of House for another season...
ReplyDeletenot quit acting, quit acting on TV... hopefully he'll do some movies.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling they might get to do another season of House which would be the last season.
ReplyDeleteYep,i read it again and your right, thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine Tv without Hugh Laurie ..He is obvious one of the best actors on US TV.... Hugh said that he wants to retire after House a long time ago ,,Probably he is tired and wants to make new things..He has the gags to quit TV after the phenomenon called House ... Only few people in the world could take this decision cause we all know that after House everybody will try to grab him for a new show ..I think with this Hugh says to everyone to leave him alone.. Congrats to him and we are very lucky because we had the opportunity to watch a great show and much more a genius actor ...! Now I want more movies, songs and guests
ReplyDeleteI don't think that $60mil can decrease easily :)) He can live for 100 years with that ,money...In UK he was one of the high paid comedians so I don't think that he ever had or he will have a problem with money ... He gets $700.000 per episode..That means $15.000.000 only from S8 plus his concerts, album, interviews, photoshoots etc etc :) I wish he could think about it twice :0
ReplyDeleteI can`t wait to read a sequel of The Gun Seller. I hope he`ll write it and publish it soon.
ReplyDeleteThat`s sad, I like him! And the character House is just brilliant!
ReplyDeleteI HOPE we might be allowed one more season (9). There's so much that needs to be finished... in the Aristotelian sense.
ReplyDeletewow didnt realize he was that old. Hopefully we can get another season. if not i hope it goes out on a bang!
ReplyDeleteHope this is not the final season of House.
