New Animated Comedy Series Unsupervised Premieres Thursday, Jan. 19, 10:30 PM ET/PT
LOS ANGELES, November 28, 2011 – FX, basic cable’s leader for scripted programming year-round, has announced release dates for two of its returning hits, as well as a brand new animated comedy series.
FX opens the new year with the return of the Emmy Award®-winning hit drama Justifiedon January 17, and will continue to run Tuesdays at 10 PM ET/PT. Starring Timothy Olyphant as “U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens,” Justified is based on the works of crime novelist Elmore Leonard, including Leonard’s short story Fire in the Hole. The end of Season 2 brought about the end of the Bennett family’s hold over Harlan County and the return of Raylan’s old nemesis/friend Boyd Crowder to the criminal life. This season, Boyd and his crew will find they aren’t the only ones making a play to rule the Harlan underworld. Now Raylan finds himself facing off against dirty politics, hidden fortunes, a mysterious man named “Limehouse” and an enterprising and lethal criminal from the Motor City. Earlier this year, Justified was nominated for four Emmy Awards, with Margo Martindale taking home the statue for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Developed by Graham Yost, who also wrote the pilot, Justified is Executive Produced by Yost, Leonard, Fred Golan, Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly and Michael Dinner, who directed the pilot episode and others. Justified is produced by Sony Pictures Television and FX Productions.
FX’s acclaimed animated series Archer returns for its third season starting January 19 and will air Thursdays at 10 PM ET/PT. Archer is an animated, half-hour comedy that revolves around the International Secret Intelligence Service (ISIS) and the lives of its employees. Although their work of espionage, reconnaissance missions, wiretapping and undercover surveillance is daunting and dangerous, every covert operation and global crisis is actually just another excuse for the ISIS staff to undermine, sabotage and betray each other for personal gain. Archer’s three part series “Heart of Archness,” which aired this past September, gained +26% in P18-49 (1.37 vs. 1.08 million), +34% in M18-49 (1.04 million vs. 775,000) and +12% in Total Viewers (1.72 vs. 1.53 million) over its second season.
FX will premiere its newest series with the animated comedy Unsupervised, which will premiere on January 19 at 10:30 ET/PT and will air immediately following Archer. Unsupervised is a comedy about optimistic best friends “Gary” and “Joel” navigating the harsh landscape of teenage life and trying to do what's right without any parental guidance whatsoever. The series was created by and is executive produced by Rob Rosell, Scott Marder and David Hornsby, all who currently serve as writer/producers on FX’s hit comedy series It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia. It features an outstanding voice cast including Justin Long, Kristen Bell, Fred Armisen, Romany Malco, Kaitlin Olson and Alexa Vega, along with Rosell and Hornsby. Unsupervised is produced by FX Productions, in association with RCG Productions and Floyd County. RCG is the team of Sunny Executive Producers/Writers/Stars Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton. The deal for Unsupervised is the first series order for RCG as part of their overall deal with FX Productions. The series will be animated by Archer Executive Producers Adam Reed and Matt Thompson.

Can't wait for new Justified;)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for both Justified and Archer.
ReplyDeleteCool, cool, cool. Looking forward to all three.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for Justified to be back, still my favourite drama
ReplyDeleteJustified,yay!
ReplyDeleteJUSTIFIED. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteI can wait for Justified and Archer, but when they'll be here I will be very, very happy.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what to do with Unsupervised. I really love the vocal cast (Kristen Bell, Kaitlin Olson, David Hornsby who's also creating the show, produced by the gang of Sunny) but I don't like the synopsis (= two teenagers do stupid things) and I don't like the animatic style (shown in one short trailer) either. Well, at least I'll try, it can't be that bad.
This press release is strongly implying (even affirming, actually) that we won't get a new FX drama series on Wednesdays starting this January. I was foolishly expecting a quick pickup for Powers, for a start this Winter. I strongly think they will pick it up to series, since they recently passed on Outlaw Country and I think that was their only other drama pilot at this stage of production, they can't pass on both. They won't have anything on Wednesdays this January, they won't have anything at all after mid-April and they won't have any drama series this summer (they always had Rescue Me before, but now it's over, maybe Powers will take its place)... they've got to greenlight something.
Can´t wait for Justified. Boyd and Raylan are the best two chacters on TV.
ReplyDeleteArcher! TV's finest animated show is back soon!
ReplyDeleteStill haven't had the time to catch up on Justified, I recently finished the first 2 seasons of Treme. But maybe over the Christmas break I'll manage to do it.
Not sure about Unsupervised. The talent behind the show is intriguing, but the premise sounds just okay and the animation style looks not very appealing to me although it's way better than Life & Times of Tim, never watched that show because of the animation style.
Thanks! Cannot wait for Justified!
ReplyDeleteWow this year has sped by, it doesn't seem time already for Justified to be back :o But I'm sure glad it is :D
