The debut date for the new seasons of the HBO comedy series EASTBOUND & DOWN and LIFE’S TOO SHORT has been confirmed. EASTBOUND & DOWN kicks off its eight-episode third season SUNDAY, FEB. 19 (10:00-10:30 p.m. ET/PT), immediately followed by the debut of the seven-episode season of the new show LIFE’S TOO SHORT (10:30-11:00 p.m.).
Starring Danny McBride and executive produced by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Chris Henchy, Jody Hill and Danny McBride, EASTBOUND & DOWN tells the story of Kenny Powers, a star pitcher whose self-destructive behavior knocks him out of major league baseball, leaving him broke, delusional and desperate to regain his former glory.
LIFE’S TOO SHORT is a faux documentary starring actor Warwick Davis (the “Harry Potter” and “Star Wars” films) as a fictionalized version of himself: a down-and-out little person desperately trying to hustle and connive his way back into the spotlight. Written, directed and executive produced by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the show features cameos by top stars, including Johnny Depp, Sting and Steve Carell, along with Gervais and Merchant playing themselves in minor roles.

Very excited for the third season of Eastbound and Down. Kenny Powers
ReplyDeleteFTW ! I like that we gradually got more episodes : season 1 had 6
episodes, season 2 had 7 episodes and season 3 will have 8 episodes. So
sad the show is coming to an end though.
I think it would have made sense to start both shows on January 29, right after the Series Premiere of Luck (which will probably get amazing ratings) instead of waiting for February 19, after episode 1.03 — because I'm assuming HBO won't air episode 1.02 of Luck on February 5, they'll wait until February 12 (there's already usually a big ratings drop after pilots, so you don't want to put your second episode against the Superbowl, it would hurt the show a lot... but then again, they're the ones putting Bored to Death and Enlightened against Two and a Half Men and Mike & Molly, which causes incredibly low ratings for two of the best comedies on TV (and I'm not talking about the Chuck Lorre sitcoms)).
I haven't started Life's Too Short yet, but so far I've only read mixed to negative reviews about the first 3 episodes, and most coming from people enjoying Ricky Gervais' previous work (like me). It's basically just like Extras with a dwarf as the main character, apparently, and nothing is really original/funny aside from the scenes with big celebrities as themselves. And I read that there are jokes such as Warwick (the dwarf) being on his back like a turtle, it's kind of pathetic to come to that kind of humor. I'll make my own opinion very soon but if that's the kind of humor Ricky Gervais is putting in this show then there's a good chance I might not like this one.
Hope S3 of E&D will be more like the first season was, didn't like the Mexico setting very much.
