Surprised about Pan Am. I'd think they'd let it go after it's initial 13-episode order. They got a good chunk of shows in mid-season and Pan Am seems like dead weight.
yay for lms and ouat!!! Once upon a time is very interesting and considering the show is only 2 episodes in thats good. But i bet they did it early because the show takes more time with effects, costumes, etc. more then most shows like poi for example so they need time to film and post production. LMS is funny its interesting and Im glad thanks abc!
I'm happy about Once Upon A Time, but I really don't get why people like Happy Endings. I feel like my teeth are getting pulled every time I try to watch it. The jokes are so forced ...
Nancy Travis is funny but the show... not so much. LMS also squanders the talent of young actress Kaitlyn Dever. She was so great on Justified and deserves a better role. ABC does pay a lot better than The CW though, so there's that.
Damn, I don't like this "5 additionnal scripts" and not an actual back-9 order for Pan Am. I hope the ratings will turn around fairly quickly, go up to a 2.0 on the 18-49 demo, at least, to ensure a full season, but that might be hard to pull off after a few weeks around 1.8, it looks like it's stabilized a little too low. I'm not losing hope ABC will stick behind the show, the ratings could be better but it's not a flop, it's just pretty much like Brothers and Sisters last season, and from what I've heard Pan Am is a decent show with a lot of potential, which I'll verify soon enough but in the meantime I'd like the show not to get cancelled.
It's just a completely different brand of humour. It has some of the awkwardness inherent in situational comedy, but, without the laughtrack, it's able to build on jokes in a completely different fashion. I'm tired of the old setup/punch-line joke-telling model on CBS. That's why Community and Cougar Town (heightened reality) and Parks and Recreation (awkward mockumentary) are at the top of my comedy list.
Happy Endings exists within the semi-grounded world of a traditional sitcom, while working with humour/creative styles akin to the more abstract sitcoms. I just love how the jokes and reactions build. The commitment to a single joke/line takes the joke JUST past the point of expectation. And violations of expectation tend to make me laugh.
Phew. Anyway, I'm not trying to get you to watch it since you clearly dislike such shows, but that's why I personally am REALLY happy about the full season order.
Yeah, Happy Endings just isn't my type of humor in the end. I've watched probably five or six episodes and struggle to get through each one. I want to like it, but I just can't. I'm glad for the show's fans though
"Community" and "Parks and Recreation" (and "Happy Endings") are my favorite comedies, too. Never quite connected with "Cougar Town", though. Kinda made me cringe. To be honest I didn't really try too hard, only watched a few episodes in Season 1.
Ah-mah-zing news for "Happy Endings" fans, myself included. Thanks ABC for once again showing faith in a low-rated yet well-received comedy. I'm still wondering whether or not to give "Once Upon a Time" a shot.
I'm excited about Happy Endings and Once Upon a Time, although I've yet to start watching the latter. It's on my ridiculously long to do list of TV shows.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Yay for Once Upon A Time!

ReplyDeleteSurprised about Pan Am. I'd think they'd let it go after it's initial 13-episode order. They got a good chunk of shows in mid-season and Pan Am seems like dead weight.

ReplyDeleteNow if only GCB turns out to be a hit ABC could have another 2004 on their hands.

ReplyDeleteYay for last man standing. a good surprise for pan am
ReplyDeleteSurprised about Pan Am, but I guess they are just script orders so it doesn't mean they will get made.

ReplyDeleteI don't think it's that big a hit to be honest.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited about Happy Endings and Once Upon a Time, although I've yet to start watching the latter. It's on my ridiculously long to do list of TV shows.
