“SUPERNATURAL” - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) NOVEMBER 18
“How to Win Friends and Influence Monsters” (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

IT’S A JERSEY DEVIL OF A TIME — Sam (Jared Padalecki), Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Bobby (Jim Beaver) become actual hunters, in the true sense of the word, when they set up camp in a New Jersey state park to track a creature that has been attacking people in the woods. The townsfolk claim it is the real Jersey Devil. Meanwhile, Dean is beyond thrilled to find a Biggerson’s restaurant in town, but is devastated when he discovers the restaurant’s special sandwich seems to be making people crazy. Guy Bee directed the episode written by Ben Edlund (#709).

  2. *__* Look Awesome!!

  3. A special crazy-people sandwich? The Jersey Devil? Hmmm... Sounds like a promising episode!

  4. Evil sandwich? (Or crazymaking, at least! :P) Jersey Devil? Awesome! Sounds promising.

I flipped out for a minute because the first time I read over it I missed Sam's name. I was like, "Dean and Bobby? WHERE IS SAM."

  5. What happened to Butch and Sundance with the brothers against the world and the loss of all their support systems.  It seems like Bobby's around more than ever.  I'd like to see the boys take care of themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  6. They'll lose the laptop and car next episode. Bobby's house is gone. I still find it hard to believe he had copies of EVERYTHING in his house stashed all over, though.

  7.  I think i'm talking about Bobby's physical presence.  I like the character and all but for me he just works better in small doses.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Most definitely. That's why I hope we only see Death once or twice a season.  I did find it funny that with Bobby not there last week they screwed the spell up. (No chilled chicken feet) I know it was an attempt at comedy but it's making the brothers look like Laurel and Hardy a little too much.

  9. I'm not sure I'd eat at Biggerson's even before the crazy people sandwich.  Too much bad.  Love the idea of the Jersey Devil.  Should be interesting to see how they portray it.

  10. I've ALWAYS wanted to see Supernatural tackle the Jersey Devil! This episode sounds like a promising one and h me SUPER excited!!! :D Jared+Jensen+Ben Edlund+Guy Bee= pure epicness.

  11. For us ignorant foreigners can someone please explain what a Jersey Devil is?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Oh and camping? We al know how much Dean loves camping.
Oh sweetheart, he doesn't do shorts.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Don't forget, he IS Bobby Singer - paranoid bastard :)

  14. It's a folk legend monster that lives in the forest, bipedal, hooved, and usually capable of flight.  It's a monster more in the sense of bigfoot or a chupacabra (as in more animal than humanoid).  There are legends that it originated from witchcraft, and it pops up all over folk lore with lots of variations on appearance etc.  Hope that helps!

  15. Sounds cool!  I love the eps where the boys are out away from society, them against the elements (like Wendigo) because it ups the action and suspense!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Omg, this sounds amazingly cracktastic! I love Bedlund and I love Guy Bee, this should be an amazing episode.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Thanks :) I guess I could have googled it couldn't I?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Now they just have to head south for the howler and the wog, amiright? ;)

    ReplyDelete
  19. Claude Lemieux.  Sorry. Couldn't resist.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Or you could simply ask and have a nice member of the STV community answer, and not have to google anything.

    Problem solved.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Again, forgive my ignorance, but I don't understand that reference :P

  22. He was a goofball hockey player who became vilified after one of the nastiest cheap shots in the history of professional sports. He actually BIT a guy's finger during a fight.  When they asked him about it after the game he said he didn't know cannibalism wasn't allowed in the NHL!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I actualy said LOL out loud after reading this.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Wow! That would be hilarious if it wasn't so disturbing.
And thanks - once again the STV community saved me from having to google it myself :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ha! Now why didn't I think of that.....?

  26. The Jersey Devil is a mythic creature that supposedly lives in the Pine Barrens of southern New Jersey. The myth has been around for centuries, but there were a lot of reports of sightings in the early 1900's and it kind of become part of pop culture. It supposedly has two legs, hooves and wings. It's never been reported to kill or harm people, just cattle and land etc. but pretty much anything strange that happens in the area is attributed to the Devil.

  27. Or you could just watch The X Files, episode 5 "Jersey Devil" ;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Another nod to The X Files? =)

    ReplyDelete
  29. That sounds interesting! King Edlund's episode! Cannot wait! Also, Dean/Food OTP.

    ReplyDelete
  30. haha, I did the same thing and was right puzzled for a minute XD

    ReplyDelete
  31. The meat is made of monster.....eeewwww?!

    ReplyDelete
  32. it seems he has a lot of time on his hands which makes sense since I dont think he actively hunts all that much, h's more of a hunter support system.

    ReplyDelete
  33. It also may have been a way to show how the excesive drinking is affecting Dean as a hunter? Just a thought

    ReplyDelete
  34. Biggerson"s restaurant.  I can't remember these on the show.  Hunting a Jersey Devil sounds great.  Edlund and Bee ought to be a real combination.  Actual hunting for the three should be exciting.  Kind of reminiscent of Wendigo in  a way...maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  35. I have no problem what so ever thinking Bobby had stuff stored elsewhere.  That's exactly what Bobby would do.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Lol  I believe Nessy's real.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I was more concerned it might be made of people.  In cannibalism it can cause  brain disease that leads to insanity.

    ReplyDelete
  38. When did episode 9's title get changed? I thought it was supposed to be "Season Seven, Time For a Wedding!"

    ReplyDelete
  39. They are losing everything except for maybe Bobby, but even then it looks like they're gonna have to be careful. They've lost all their friends except for him. Sam's gonna lose his laptop as we saw in the preview for this Friday's ep. They've lost their "hunting quarters" aka Bobby's house and a place that they could call "home." They're losing the car which IS their home, because the Leviathans taking on Sam and Dean's form and acting out in such a way is definitely putting them on the run. Now it would seem that they DO have to take care of themselves.

They don't deserve to lose everything though, much less Bobby and they actually DO take care of themselves. Butch and Sundance weren't against the world. Butch and Sundance were on the run constantly, and after this coming Friday's ep, it looks like Sam and Dean will be too. There was nothing that stated that Sam and Dean would be against the world. It stated that Sam and Dean were on the run and pretty much screwed. All their old weapons and hiding places and such don't work anymore. The Leviathans have them tracked and tracked well, up to and including cloning their car. With tomorrow's episode, I think it's pretty much gonna take us right into the Butch and Sundance theme of the season.

  40. Hunting in the woods and sandwiches which make people crazy? Sounds really awesome. Can't wait! (and I've said it so many times this season already... it definitely keeps me much more excited than season 6)

    ReplyDelete
  41. They switched episodes around awhile ago. Episode 8 is "Season Seven, Time for a Wedding" now. :)

    ReplyDelete
  42.  Then what was the point of burning Bobby's house down?  It seems like they did it to give an excuse to put Bobby on the road with the boys.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I didnt want to go there mainly because they did that in Buffy didnt they?

    ReplyDelete
  44. yes but the writers do love to dress Jensen up so maybe we will get to see him in some kind of traditional hunting gear. I really want to see them wear those hats with the flappy ears.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I agree.  It used to be that Bobby was in an episode if there was a plot reason for him to be there (i.e., the story called for the presence of a more experienced hunter, or Sam and Dean weren't talking to each other because one of them was dying, or they just weren't talking).  Now it seems like he comes along on hunts when there really isn't any reason for it.  Now, instead of Sam or Dean doing their own research and figuring out solutions to their own problems, they just ask Bobby.

    ReplyDelete
  46. That's funny.  I had no idea that there was was such a thing.  I thought it was just a hockey player.  (For anyone outside of the states, New Jersey's hockey team is named the Devils.)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Yes. Very good point. It seems like when hunters make mistakes, people die. Could be leading up to something.

    ReplyDelete
  48. This episode sounds interesting.  I wonder if Dean will visit the pie bar this episode?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Yeah it is but we're talking about a CRAPLOAD of reference material. Plus I'm not sure if the herbs, oils, bones, etc. were something he also spread around.

I'm probably looking way too deeply into this!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Pine Barrens?  Maybe they'll run into that Russian guy that Paulie an Christopher were supposed to whack but got away.

    Oh wait....wrong show.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Ben Edlund,Guy Bee and a possessed(?!) sandwich.Pretty sure it can't get any better...  ; )

    ReplyDelete
  52. Evil sandwich? That's too bad, Dean. XD

    ReplyDelete
  53. Bobby doesn't have a home now so he might as well come along on trips. And with all that happened, I think he probably feels obligated to keep an eye on Dean. So yay for more Bobby =)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Ha! And, if I may ask, what is your position on Bigfoot? :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Biggerson's has featured in a few eps now. The first time was in Bad Day At Black Rock  - where S&D won free food for a year with the 'lucky' rabbit's foot.
    It was also the restaurant where the showdown with Famine took place in My Bloody Valentine. In You Can't Handle The Truth, 'Jane' blew her brains out when her sister told her to;
In Hello, Cruel World, a tv ad announces Biggerson's new 'pie bar;, and in The Girl Next Door, Sam buys food from Biggerson's.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh, lord.  Biggerson's is part of a plot now.  Well, it's an Edlund / Bee episode so it shouldn't be all that bad.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Aww Dean and his food...he can't cut a break.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yep, real live legend. :) No hockey involved.

    ReplyDelete
  59. It's also a bit too reminiscent of Wendigo.

    ReplyDelete
  60. watching season 1 of Supernatural because i was too scared to watch it when the show first started. just watched the episode route 666. i liked dean with cassie and i wouldn't mind seen her is a future episode.

    ReplyDelete
  61. they broke up like 8 or 9 years ago so I dont think thats going to happen. Besides she wasnt into Dean's lifestyle which is understandable.

    ReplyDelete
  62. ever the optomist

    ReplyDelete
  63. he can also keep an eye on Sam, who isnt doing as well as he likes to think he is or is trying to convince Dean he is. Dean is busy with his own issues so Bobby being there might be good for Sam.

Poor Sam he has no one

    ReplyDelete
  64. Oh jeeze. This comment just made me sad. :( Poor Sam... and according to Jared's answer to my question at the con last weekend, we are gonna see Sam pretty tortured this season. He's going to be most affected by Hell than he is anything... he definitely needs somebody there for him. Jared explained that Sam trying to take the high road is not as easy as wants it to be. Poor Sam. ;_;

    ReplyDelete
  65. What is the Jersey thing they're talking about? sounds like an urban legend.

    ReplyDelete
  66. "written by Ben Edlund".... of course. The whole thing makes much more sence now...

    ReplyDelete
  67. Now they just have to head south for the howler and the wog, amiright? ;)
