The Simpsons - Saved from cancellation?

Fox has yet to make an announcement about negotiations with The Simpsons cast, which was supposed conclude by noon pacific time today. TheWrap believes an official announcement could come out later today stating the show will return for a 24th, and even a milestone 25th, season.

A deal to keep "The Simpsons" going into a twenty-fourth or twenty-fifth season could be announced today, according to a person close to the talks between the show's voice actors and the studio that produces it.

A deadline for the actors to decide whether to accept 45 percent pay cuts came and went Friday with no word from either side. 20th Century Fox TV had asked the actors for a decision by noon PT.

The person, who is familiar with the actors' position, said they could come to terms today that would extend the show one or two more seasons beyond its current twenty-third. That could bring the show to a landmark 25 seasons. The show is already the longest-running scripted series in primetime.

  1. iit shouldn't be this hard to negotiate contracts to keep such a lucrative show such as the simpson going.  maybe if the owners will let up everyone could be happy.  Hopefully it will work out.

  2. Why bother? The show isn't even funny anymore, it's been on way too long and it has run it's course. There are much better shows like Family guy and others, I think the network should have just cancelled it. Who even watches this show anymore.

  3. Yeah actually the show is still on of the most watched things over at Fox, and also, what they really are scared about is what the cancellation will do to the merchandising market (where they make the real money).

  4. It would be ridiculous to cancel a show like The Simpsons because of salaries. It's almost an institution

  8. Good. As much as this show should end, it shouldn't be because it got screwed over by FOX.

  10. Yeah, I was talkin' about real ratings, not Total Viewers.
