Rating/Share CBS 9.6/15
Fox 7.7/12
ABC 7.6/12
NBC 3.1/ 5
CW 0.7/ 1

-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Tuesday 10/26/10:
Fox: +33, ABC: + 4, CW: no change, CBS: -11, NBC: -26

----------

-Winners:
NCIS (CBS), The X Factor (Fox), Last Man Standing (ABC), Dancing With the Stars (ABC), NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS)

-Disappointing:
Man Up (ABC)

-Fading Fast:
The Biggest Loser (NBC)

----------

-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS remained in the Tuesday overnight winners circle with its combination of NCIS (#1: 11.9 rating/19 share), spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles (#2: 9.7/15) and episode six of just full season-renewed Unforgettable (#2: 7.3/12), which dipped by 20 percent from year-ago occupant The Good Wife (9.1/15 on 10/26/10). But two-and-one-half hours of The X Factor (7.7/12 from 8-10:30 p.m.) should be more than enough for Fox to rule the evening among adults 18-49 (and other key young demos). Here is the half-hour breakdown for The X Factor:

The X Factor (Fox)
8:00 p.m.: 7.1/11 (#2)
8:30 p.m.: 7.9/12 (#2)
9:00 p.m.: 8.0/12 (#3)
9:30 p.m.: 7.8/12 (#3)
10:00 p.m.: 8.7/14 (#1)

Fox has announced a partnership with Twitter to allow fans – for the first time in television – to cast votes on The X Factor via Twitter; and fans also can vote via mobile App with Verizon Touch Voting on The Xtra Factor App. Voting will be open for the first time after the finalists perform live on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. ET.

In week two news, ABC sitcom Man Up finished a distant third at 8:30 p.m., with a 4.7/ 7 in the overnights. Comparably, that dipped by 10 percent from last Tuesday’s modest opener (5.2/ 8 on 10/18/10), with retention out of week three of lead-in Last Man Standing (#3: 6.8/11 at 8 p.m.) of a disappointing 69 percent. The positive news for Last Man Standing was full overnight retention from one week earlier, which should result in a back-nine episode order at any moment. Considering HUT levels are higher at 8:30 p.m., Man Up is a definite disappointment.

At 9 p.m. on ABC was the departure of Chaz Bono on the live Dancing With the Stars Results Show at a dominant 10.2/16 in the overnights at 9 p.m. (which dipped by eight percent from the year-ago evening - 11.1/16 on 10/26/10). Next Monday will certainly be interesting seeing outspoken Maxsim Chmerkovskiy and wooden Hope Solo facing the judges.

Capping off the evening for ABC was Body of Proof at a third-place 7.0/12 at 10 p.m., which increased from failed year-ago occupant Detroit 1-8-7 (5.7/ 9 on 10/26/10) by 23 percent.

Over at NBC, The Biggest Loser has sprung a leak with erosion of 20 percent from the year-ago evening (4.6/ 7 on 10/26/10). The Biggest Loser scored a 3.7/ 7 from 8-10 p.m., with a fourth-place finish in each of the four half-hours as follows:

The Biggest Loser (NBC)
8:00 p.m.: 3.7/ 6 (#4)
8:30 p.m.: 3.7/ 6 (#4)
9:00 p.m.: 3.6/ 6 (#4)
9:30 p.m.: 3.8/ 6 (#4)

Keep in mind that a 3.6 in the overnights one week earlier translated into just 5.17 million viewers and a 1.9/ 5 among adults 18-49 for The Biggest Loser (based on the Live Plus Same Day Results), which is not benefiting by the absence of Jillian Michaels.

At 10 p.m. on NBC was a repeat of Prime Suspect in place of regularly scheduled Parenthood at a distant last-place 2.0/ 3 in the overnights. Chances are, unfortunately, that the added exposure will not help the worthy crime solver.

The CW capped off this sixth Tuesday of the 2011-12 season with back-to-back encore telecasts of Sarah Michelle Gellar drama Ringer at an average 0.7/ 1 from 8-10 p.m.

  4. I used to be the "big three" (ABC,CBS and NBC) and FOX.... then it was the "big four" and CW as an afterthought since FOX became a full fledged ratings machine.

Now I think it seriously could be considered the "big three" (ABC, CBS and FOX) and NBC and CW as an after thought.

  5. Thats how i have been thinking of it to.At one time almost all the shows i watched were on NBC,CBS and ABC.But in the last few years its dwindle down to nothing. I gave Prime Suspect a chance,i might still watch, but thats it.Now 95% of the shows i watch are on Fox,CBS and ABC.After that it premium cable,USA ,TNT,SCI-FI,and A&E.I don't watch CW never really did,and now NBC.
