  4. I really like this extended promo and I'm really looking forward to this episode. Honestly, Season 4 so far has been close to perfection. I've really enjoyed all of the episodes so far and have very little negative comments, if any at all :)

Bruno Heller, you are awesome =D

  5. Although I've been enjoying season 4, I must disagree. Thhis season has been very far from perfection. It's been full of quick (too quick) magic solutions. Jane got acquitted in one episode, the unanimity of the jury is verging on unbelievable. In episode 2, puff, he gets his team back just like that. On top of everyhting, there's not enough tension between him and the team (Lisbon in particular) after everything that has happened. Killing a man in a shopping mall and getting everyone suspended is not just any prank of Jane's, yet everyone it's treating it as such. There's practically no change inside him either. The producers went far too fast from upside down to the old formula.

  6. Totally agree with you, especially about the "too less tension" between Jane and the Team or Lisbon but maybe that is yet to come (the writers said there would be "serious issues between jane and Lisbon") - I don't know. I'm quite disappointed at how they've written Lisbon so far this season (she's my favorite character and there was a reason why I feel in love with her in hte first place).
But who knows, we still have the whole season to go so I don't want to judge to early. Next episode surely looks fun with the new boss.

  7. I agree with the fact the first two episodes were quite rushed, especially the premiere. With the amount of things they had to cover, a two-part episode would have been better.

I also think that after a season finale like we had, a lot of people are still trying to catch their breath and make sense of what truly happened. I think episode 4.03 really did that, brought us back into the normal flow of The Mentalist episodes. It wasn't rushed and it was nicely done, and it partially brought out the pain Jane has had to live with most of his life (The death his of family, his con years).

As for the tension, it will come in time. Between the season 2 finale and episode 4.02, it was a lot about how close-knit the team has become, despite what Jane did. Everyone backed each other and without asking question. As the season will unfold, I'm positive that things will eventually turn sour, especially for Jane. I noticed quite a difference in Jane's character from last season, unlike what you mentioned. He wears a heavier baggage on his shoulders now and seems more preoccupied/tormented. He's also showing his emotions a little more than he used to (admitting his fault in 4.01, for example. As well as openly admitting in 4.03 that he was a con artist and stole money from his clients, just to name a few). We always knew he felt this way but by actually admitting things outloud is something new for him. He's always a closed book.

As for tension between him and Lisbon, I have to disagree. Everything is well between them because they are avoiding the subject: Red John. Lisbon thinks he's dead (and has tried on many occasions to help Jane see that, and Jane has his reasons to think RJ is alive. Red John has created a wall between them and they're dancing around it. I think their relationship has developped really well so far in season 4 and I think their biggest issue later this season will definitely be Red John, as it will either divide them apart or make them stand united. I think it bothers Jane that Lisbon actually questioned his sanity in the premiere and how she doesn't fully trust him yet. Maybe it's one of the reasons why he's been letting his walls down around her, make amends for what he's done and earn her complete trust.

I was also surprised how Lisbon was written in Season 4, but really relieved as well. She is no longer the hardened cop she used to be in Season 1 and 2. She was a lot more miserable/sad/serious back then compared to now. I think it's a development in character that I really like, because we can't forget that Jane isn't the only one with personal issues. Lisbon has not been a people-friendly person and Season 4 has showed us that she's starting to let people in. I would have been disapointed if Lisbon had been written differently.

Jane's character is evolving in many ways this season, and so does Lisbon's. All we have to do now is wait for the breaking point that will threaten to tear their newly found relationship apart. The 'issue' everyone is so concerned about (including myself).

So yeah, I really like Season 4. I think despite the first 2 rushed episodes that had their ups and downs, episode 3 made me really excited to see how the remainder of the season will unfold. :)

  8. So . . the good guys were angry, screaming illegal immigrants, and the bad guy was a white southerner from Texas.

Nope, no bigoted, hate filled, liberal propaganda here.

I used to love this show.

    This episode sucked.
