It started off slow, but I loved it! I loved all the twists, even if I'm now confused. How is Bridget going to handle the pregnancy thing? Fake a miscarriage or fake the pregnancy?
Holy Buffy-ism! "This is just like my place, except not"
Anyone else think parts of that speedboat sister to sister chat was filmed with green screen? Yikes.
That confession to Malcolm was odd to me. Bridget just kept going on and on and on with dramatic pauses and yet he never interjected or asked anything until the end. Typically if someone who ran off from her FBI guard and then called to say her sister committed suicide most people would say "What? or "hold om.... who... what?" or similar.
The scary mob guy Bridget was going to be testifying against reminds me of a native Iggy Pop! XD
It wasn't bad but it was not good either... just okay for me. It was pretty sloppily executed and VERY predictable despite the fact I had avoided watching any spoilery videos.
Ya i liked it to. I liked the mystery, the characters were interesting and Ioan grufford holds the most promise I think for the males and the fbi guy to add to the story. I loved the ending that was good even though it seemed I have seen something like that before in a show but i didnt expect it to be Siobhan. I did think that she was alive because it would be more wierd if they actually did killer her off in the pilot i just didnt count on her being the one to want to kill Bridget. The story itself and how it looks to playout its interesting and it shows potential to be better. So i will continue watching but im not quite sure how well in the ratings it will do. Sarah Michelle gellar may be in it but its reminding me of the vampire diaries and nikita mix when it comes to premieres. I give it a 4 sarah's out of 5.
it really picked up steam in the second half, I liked it and i will tune in next week i think the show will get better over time. Its cool to see Sarah on tv again shes pretty hot.
Wow. That is wild. O.o I'm just happy one of them jumped onboard Ringer cause it might work out. :) And I'm DYING for House of Lies. I'll probably end up ignoring everything but the one-liners Kristen says and then pretend it's Veronica grown up into a lawyer. O_o
I wondered if I would picture that very thing while watching it! XD
Good point about Ringer may stick around... House of Cards should be awesome though!
. The other series I'm not as positive about. Apartment 23 (Gia Goodman), The New Girl (officer Leo) both could stick maybe.. but Friends With Benefits (Dick Cassablancas) is dead already... Powers (Meg Manning) and Dallas (Parker Lee) I will reserve judgement on until I know more....
I liked it and I think it has a lot of potential to grow into something more than the pilot showed. The pilot was a bit bumpy with some weird shots and off pacing. There were no real surprises (Siobhan was obviously not dead. I'm guessing she drugged Bridget's drink.) but I didn't exactly avoid the spoilers. For me the series will hang on the pacing. If they drag out the mystery too long or just keeping adding to it, I will lose interest. For me the most interesting angle right now is what happened to Sean.
Side note - I am a bit irked that they showed previews of every show on the network with the exception of Supernatural and Heart of Dixie. It really doesn't bode well for Heart of Dixie but I was hoping for better for Supernatural with the new management. I guess things aren't as different as I expected.
The first half was a little slow. And the scene where she was talking to her sponsor on the phone was weird with the long pauses and the music. But overall it kept me interested enough to watch next week. It's good to see SMG on TV again.
I liked it. Like some have mentioned, more the potential than tonight's episode, but hey, it's a "get to know you" episode and to that end it was good, but a bit slow in parts, but all the performances were good and left me looking forward to next week,.
Good to see that Sarah is back on TV, and the pilot didn’t disappoint me at all. The twist at the end is exactly what I want…although it’s pretty easy to guess that Siobhan is not dead yet. Can’t wait for the next episode…
Funny, but I had the opposite reaction to the pacing comments I'm reading here. I thought they jammed too much in at the cost of developing the main character enough to make me care about her. I'm not getting the stripper, recovering drug addict vibe from her, and her sister seemed almost like a caricature. I would have liked to have seen more of Brittany's former life and flashbacks that showed us more of her relationship with her sister.
But I found myself getting more interested near the end of the episode, and I'm looking forward to next week. Pilots are often awkward because the characters and chemistry hasn't formed yet.
I think if should have been a 2-episode premiere that started with her witnessing crazy dangerous guy killing his brother or some other people viciously I am really tired of the "show the end and then go back to the beginning" cliche I guess..
The first episode could have dealt with the Bridget's backstory more and ended with her meeting Siobhan and the "suicide". I would have felt more for Bridget if I knew more details about her past.
Then episode two should have been more about Siobhan's imperfect life as Brdiget tried to replace her. Then end it at the same spot with the reveal that Siobhan is alive.
Then I would care more about Bridget and Siobhan. Plus I would know WHY that guy is so dangerous. It's always more visceral if you witness it for yourself. As it was it was rushed and sloppy.
If it had to be one episode It should have ended at the "suicide" and Bridget walking into Siobhan's life.
I figured she had to be alive, was too weird a set up, esp with her leaving her ring and arranging the visit for when hubby was away. The phone call about the pregnancy sealed it for me lol.
Exactly. Spend the first hour establishing the characters enough so that we care when Siobhan goes missing and we find it natural that Bridget would choose to step into her life (and have the lying skills to pull it off), and spend the second hour discovering more about Siobhan's life and introduce the hitman/Siobhan's alive twist.
Sorry for my english (I'm french...). I read a interview of Sarah and Nestor who said that the rythm of the episodes will slow down and there will be many flashbacks about the character (Bridget with the drug, dancer, Siobhan, Henry and all of the other characters... ). We also will see the past of Bridget and Siobhan -> it will be one of the mystery of the next episodes... !
I'm very exciting about the next episode ! I want to see the direction of the show...
I liked it quite a lot,but maybe that's just because it's Buffy.Crazy, older and alcoholic Buffy with guns, but I can still see and hear Buffy in some of her lines, mainly when she's sarcastic.
Get rid of the awful green screen effects at the beginning with the sisters and the bad angsty typical CW music (also used in the first half) and it actually wasn't too bad. After reading reviews I expected it to be awful but I enjoyed it enough to give watch another episode.
Meh. It was okay, I suppose. I might watch the next episode, to try to get into it more (some of the shows that I love now I really had little interest in in the beginning, so who knows?), but I don't think this'll be a show I'll continue to watch.
I was really prepared to be disappointed. Something about the trailer zapped all the umphf out of Sarah's characters for me. It also left me feeling like there wouldn't be anything really interesting about the story. The short version of this story is a well used plot. But there's more here than that and I was pleased.
I still feel like I need to get to know Bridgette/Sarah better but I quite liked most of the other characters in her orbit.
I was retroactively thrilled at how the trailer for the show was cut. I knew, when I watched the trailer, that Shioban would have faked her death. But I figured we'd have to wait 4-10 episodes to find out the truth. I loved the fact that whoever put together the trailer set it up to keep that reveal for the episode itself. I'll be checking out the next episode.
Despite some problems (oh my god, that boat scene!) this was a pretty good pilot.
It wasn't the execution of the pilot that was good. The pilot was a bit clunky and it lagged in parts. What worked about Ringer was Bridget. I finished the first episode wondering what this show will put this woman through next and what is going on with everyone around her.
As long as the writing tightens up a bit, there's no further call for elaborate special effects, and the music selection improves, this should be a pretty fun show.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I liked it a lot

I liked it. I like the potential more than the current product however. I hope it becomes more unpredictable, and I hope the cast melds well together.
ReplyDeleteSo many Veronica Mars alums (7) with new series this year!! It's kinda odd, but very cool!

I loved it: simply amazing!! SMG was awesome as Bridget/Siobhan :))
ReplyDeleteSo it was a fake! Nice beginning. Looks promising, so I'm definitely gonna continue watching;)
ReplyDeleteI figured she had to be alive, was too weird a set up, esp with her leaving her ring and arranging the visit for when hubby was away. The phone call about the pregnancy sealed it for me lol.
ReplyDeleteI so wish it had been a double length episode, I'm dying to see the next one already XD
