Thanks to Bruce_F for the heads up.
very bad man is coming to The Vampire Diaries, and his name Stefan. Ripper Stefan.
After two seasons of living his life as Saint Stefan (as Damon likes to call him), Elena’s good-hearted boyfriend did the unthinkable to save his brother. Stefan gave himself up to Klaus and drank from a human girl in exchange for the cure — Klaus’ blood — to Damon’s werewolf bite. But the scary fun of what executive producer Julie Plec calls “the Stefan/Klaus roadshow” is just beginning.
Joseph Morgan, the man who plays Klaus, has some thoughts about how bad — and good for viewers — Stefan’s horrific transformation is going to get. “What we’re going to get to see is how dark Stefan can go,” shared Mogran at Comic-Con. “The interesting thing is that Klaus has given Stefan permission to release that darker side of himself. We’re going to see…what Klaus’ ultimate goal is with Stefan and for Stefan.”

This is going to be intresting ;D
ReplyDeleteHaving Klaus pushing him to go bad certainly adds an extra element to this storyline.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I like Stefan's extended separation from the rest of the regular cast but it's probably for the best. He can't stay in Mystic Falls and go on a murderous rampage. There's no way to cover something like that up in a small town.
ReplyDeleteHe could be in an out of Mystic Falls. Showing himself to Damon and the rest in bits, taunting them, and then disappearing off to do ungodly things with Klaus.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious if it will be like Damon-bad-style or just obviously Stefan-bad-style
ReplyDeleteHopefully his own style. The alternative could only disappoint I think. I wouldn't think that Damon is going to become the new "St. Stefan", at least I hope not. And based on the soap suds scene he wont. :)
ReplyDeleteAs long as he doesn't display all of the angst and self-loathing that regular-Stefan does, I'm cool with whatever personality ripper-Stefan brings to the table.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds probable to me. Elena and Damon won't have the motivation to save or fix him if he never comes back to town to show them what the problem is.
ReplyDeleteI think he won't.. He's showing (then as Saint Stefan) that self-loathing particular because he couldn't let himself get loose..
ReplyDeleteI think it's gonna be quite funny because Damon has now to act like Stefan but in Damon style..
ReplyDeleteWith Stefan being Ripper Stefan, I think we have our own Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde here..
Ripper Stefan is gonna be awesome :D
ReplyDeletePaul is gonna ROCK this out, no doubt about it. I hope however, he doesn't lose that side of him he fought so hard for, so much for, with Lexi especially because I want him back in the fold for the ultimate showdown that's coming.
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see Damon step up and protect those, so far, he's shown no inkling of wanting too. And stefan being the one to threaten them.
I love the idea of "Ripper" Stefan, but I really hope the TVD writers go out of their way to NOT make him be Angelus 2.0. I know there can only be so many variations on the same theme, but having him just pop in occasionally to emotionally taunt/torture Elena et al. would be too reminiscent of Angel during season 2 BtVS. I hope they'll find other ways to show Stefan's re-emerging dark side without making him play out the same arc Angelus did.
ReplyDeleteI know that Angel lost his "soul" on Buffy, and that doesn't seem to be a concern in the TVD mythos, but I think Stefan taunting Elena would basically have the same affect as Angelus tormenting Buffy. While it would make for great drama on Vampire Diaries, that BtVS storyline was so iconic in pop culture that I don't know how TVD could pull it off in an original way.
Can't wait to see Ripper Stefan
ReplyDeletesound very bad for stefan and we think damon is evil stefan is worth when he drink human blood this season will be very dark.
ReplyDeletedamon act like stefan great but a fight between reaper stefan and crazy badass damon epic
ReplyDeleteCAN'T WAIT!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know. I actually think that the background for the entire show (and where we were by the end of S2), as well as for how Stefan ended up going ripper again, shifts the focus just enough that I don't think we need to be concerned that this storyline will become an Angelus rip-off.
ReplyDeleteOh, that would be all kinds of awesome. Especially if the fight isn't over Elena, but simply because their personalities explode all over each other.
ReplyDeleteme neither!!
ReplyDeleteI read a while back, or saw an interview maybe, where PW said he and Julie Plec both came to the conclusion that this path was necessary for Stefan's development. I think it bodes well for this storyline that it is something that both sides of the show feel very strongly about and have given some thought to developing.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes wonder if Stefan hides from this side of himself. He denies ever having loved Katherine, claiming that she compelled him. We only really learn about this side of himself when he's absolutely forced to tell someone. He knew Jonathan Gilbert had survived his attack, but he didn't tell Elena about it until after she had already read about in the journal.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that he doesn't want to face the darkness within himself and maybe he needs to. Regardless of what Klaus wants from him, maybe Stefan needs to embrace this part of himself to come to terms with it.
i think Damon is still gonna be Damon but just a little more ... mature-acting and protective
ReplyDeleteand Stefan (a little) more reckless
