    I forgot who Gloria was supposed to be.  I had to go back and look up the info.  I should have known she's a witch.  For anyone wondering, here's the STV post with the character details:

    Geez, come on. I knew she'd play a witch when we got her picture. Seriously, I do get that the witches they show on TVD are all somehow related, thus share the same skin-color, but I wish they'd get less obvious and ... say ... cast a really pale freckled ginger-head as a witch for a change. *sigh*
    Also, her role is doomed, at least to me. I've never liked any of the witches on the show (or warlocks, for that matter). But hei, maybe she's gonna surprise me.

    whats wrong with a dark skinned witch? u racist? nah nah..i'm just trollin' ..but with all seriousness i think they already introduced a white witch named maddox, he wasnt blonde or a barbie, but it does show that there is diversity in the whitchcraft race, the witches around mystic falls happen to be of african decent, but i'm sure there r barbie looking witches somewhere outside mystic falls.

    Yes, it's rather boring.  The Bennett's, the Martins, even Damon's late friend Bree. 

    And I get that the 100 dead witches were probably a community and most likely the same race, but do they have to keep it that way. After all, it's not like any of the witches except Bonnie is going to survive for very long, I'll take a token celtic druid.

    Well, there was Harper who came out of the tomb with Pearl. He was the one you sort of watched emerge, and was killed by John Gilbert at the farm together with Pearl. So we've had a token black vampire.

    But you're right. More diversity.

    I'm thinking that Emily Bennett was a servant, so maybe the other witches she was associated with were also servants and therefore dark skinned because of the time period, and since the witches we've met are mostly related... I'm just guessing though. It is a little strange having them all be one race.
