  1. I voted Fringe.

It's all we have talked about on the podcast and all I am looking forward to being explained when it returns

    ReplyDelete
  2. Do Misfits and South Park count? Those are the only ones that come to my mind tbh

I'd also vote V but since they'll never resolve that cliffhanger it would be stupid to vote for it.

    ReplyDelete
  3. You can put them in other. This is jsut to give us a general idea on what everyone thought was the best.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Definitely Fringe.

I think TVD had a few cliffhangers bigger than the kiss, namely Jeremy suddenly seeing his dead ex girlfriends.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I can't decide! It's a tie between Bones and Castle! I bought into Emily saying they were unlikely to write her pregnancy in on Bones and it was still shocking. She and Booth slept together finally! I still can't believe it, tbh. Long wait until November.

And I thought Castle would be able to take the bullet in time for Kate. I definitely didn't expect the "I love you".

Penny/Raj was a big surprise and I kinda ship it now.

Supernatural's was a shock too. God!Cas freaked me out.

HIMYM wasn't a surprise. We had been calling that it was Barney or Robin (and both) getting married for months.

    House's finale was just stupid.

    The Office's finale was okay.

  6. I know, but seeing as Misfits ended in 2010 and South Park is only on a season break I wasn't sure.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I still count it as part of the previous season of shows. Just the majority of them finished in the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Fringe.
Definitely. At least that was a real Cliffhanger as opposed to more or less shocking revelations for the other ones I've seen (Castle, Supernatural, Chuck...)
Fringe is the only one leaving me to wonder how they're going to shape the soming season. And FFS: Where is Peter Bishop??!!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Rizzoli & Isles! The way Rizzoli shot herself was epic!

    ReplyDelete
  10. K, I voted for South Park then :P

    ReplyDelete
  11. I don't think that South Park will pick up where it left off. It'll be like every other episode and things are kind of reset to normal.

    ReplyDelete
  12. You're probably right knowing Stone and Parker.
I still hope they somehow resolve the story.

    ReplyDelete
  13. That happened in 2010, though, so I don't think it counts.

    ReplyDelete
  14. it doesnt matter to much. We are just interested to see people's opinions and what has people talking. If the show hasnt returned yet it still is kinda a cliff hanger :) :)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Has to be Fringe. Epic ending to the season!

    ReplyDelete
  16. With every other cliffhanger, I can at least try and figure out how it will be resolved, but Fringe just has me completely stuck. Where is Peter?!

    ReplyDelete
  17. "You will bow down and profess your love unto me,your Lord,or I shall destroy you."
    I rest my case..  ; )

    ReplyDelete
  18. Castle! definitely didn't expect the I love you... and now the cliffhanger isn't that she will die... but whether she will remember what he said... when is it september?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Supernatural.
I definitely did not see that one coming. Sure I knew that Castiel was gonna break open Purgatory and absorb all those souls to become uber powerful and defeat Raphael. But proclaiming himself God?
Guess he got tired of being the wayward son, waiting for his Father to give him a sign from wherever He is. So he decided to take matters in his own hands and declare himself God, going about rectifying the million little things that he finds should be gone and smiting left, right and center.

"... I'm not an angel anymore. I'm your new God. So you will bow down and profess your love unto me, your Lord, or I shall destroy you."
The tone he uses while saying this always gets to me; it gives me goosebumps.

  20. FRINGE! I literally yelled WTF at my tv!

    ReplyDelete
  21. It has to be Fringe. Can't wait to see how they deal with a Peter who never was.

    ReplyDelete
  22. That has to be Hawaii Five-O never expected that ending!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Pour_A_Little_Salt7 August 2011 at 14:31

    Fringe, of course :)
I can't wait to see how they're going to resolve that cliff-hanger in the Fall...

    ReplyDelete
  24. There were a lot more dramatic/"oh holy crap" cliffhangers ie. Fringe, Castle, Bones etc but for me the best cliffhanger was The Mentalist with Jane killing Red John, I mean it was done so beautifully and calmly.

However, if I was going for the one that made me literally make a WTF face for like 2 days -  it's Fringe.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Easily Fringe, but the supernatural cliffhanger was pretty damn good too!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Fringe.  Without a doubt.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Vampire Diaries, but not the Delena kiss, it was the Anna & Vicky thing that had me in shock
i seriously just sat back in shock for 5 minutes afterwards
absolutly the last thing that i expected

    ReplyDelete
  28. So this will be a FRINGE podcast is what you're saying? XD

No series had a cliffhanger like Fringe did this year. A few others tried, but brought ti to the same kind of level as multiple timelines and universes in peril, enemies trapped together, and of course the biggie..... finding out one of the main characters "never existed".

TBBT's was fun, SPN's was predictable, and Game of Throne's may be new to TV, but the ending was 14-years old... IT is known.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Voted for Castle... but Fringe's, TBBT's, HIMYM's and GG's were great too. and also SPN's. Bones' was WTF? I would have prefered the previous episode as finale season... Vincent *Sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  30. I voted to Fringe despite this episode IMO was one of the poor episodes of the show. I did that because no other show becomes equal to what Fringe have achieved this year, and second, no other show has a better cliffhanger :)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think a lot of people rewound and played that line a few times saying WTF?!?!? over and over each time!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think I just stared at the tv for like 5 minutes after it ended, completely blank, except for the WTH in my head.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Fringe.
Especially now after hearing Josh Jackson's take on it.
So stoked for Sep 23rd, can't wait.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hands Down Castle, I mean yes we all know she'll live but Beckett has a boyfriend and Castle told her he loved her. It's romantic drama that had us Caskett shippers yelling FINALLY and YES! despite the tears in our eyes

    ReplyDelete
  35. HIMYM.Of all the shows I watch,Barney's wedding was the only cliffhanger that actually changed things a lot.I mean,Penny and Raj were an one night stand, and that's pretty much it.The Delena kiss was meant to be a goodbye, but now that Stefan is the one leaving,I don't think is going to do much difference.I didn't like House's finale.Gossip Girl is still a little undefined.Who is pregnant,Blair or Serena? Are they really pregnant or it was a false positive?
I think the biggest cliffhanger was from Fringe, the Peter thing. But I don't watch Fringe,I just read it somewhere,so I didn't vote for it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Fringe.

I would have voted Game of Thrones, but I think there's a fine line between a cliffhanger that moves you forward (a la Game of Thrones) and a cliffhanger that demands resolution (a la Fringe). The Dragons make you want to see what happens next, but the part of the story leading to the dragons has been told in a nice well-contained season.

Even then, the Fringe cliffhanger is only barely closer to the immediate resolution kind. It isn't like they'll address Peter's disappearance in a few moments at the open of the Season 4 premiere.

House/Castle are more in the vein of the traditional hook/"I WANT THIS SPECIFIC SCENE TO BE RESOLVED NOW". Can someone say Season 3 finale of Star Trek the Next Generation!?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Wow can i just say wow. I was only expecting maybe a few coments and a few votes. We are currently just under 1000 votes!!

Thanks to everyone for the comments and voting so far. im not going to reveal the winner but there are 3 in contension and it is pretty close (you are talking 10 votes between 1st and 2nd).

We are going to have lots to talk about i think

    ReplyDelete
  38. Castle! Though I also considered voting for Fringe

    ReplyDelete
  39. Fringe.... way better than any other so called "Cliffhangers"

    ReplyDelete
  40. fringe and supernatural follow by vampire diaries and bones for bonus the mentalist.

    ReplyDelete
  41. i am agree with you those two ghost creap me out looks very kinki and divius bad mojo uuuuyyyy poor jeremy.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Lemme guess, FRINGE, Supernatural and Castle?

I saw all three and they were all at least good IMO, but only one shocked me and caused a migraine trying to figure out what just happened... or didn't just happen... or never happened...

Damn Fringe-ache is back.... need Advil and coffee.... and for September to come faster.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Fringe, no doubt. GoT and the Dragons was also awesome, but nothing could have been more unexpected or OMGish than Peter not existing, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Would be really intersting. I personally considered "You're Getting Old" as one of the best episodes and endings they ever did although or maybe just because it was pretty different.

    ReplyDelete
  45. It's halfway through season 2 right now...

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think you forgot the part where Castiel snaps his fingers and an archangel was ripped into oblivion...

    ReplyDelete
  47. Definitely Fringe, they left me choking on my lasagna, literally.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I have to say my top 3 fav shows House, TBBT and Grey's.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Definitely voted for Fringe, but The Mentalist was another one that took the entire concept of the show and completely flipped it on its head. I have never seen so many people (including myself) who went from threatening to stop watching the show to dying to see what happens next.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I went with Fringe.  The "what happened to Peter" question has been discussed all summer and has seemingly been, in one form or another, the most asked question to producers and cast, not to mention all the press coverage it has received.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I liked the Castle cliffhanger but the ever-present downside to a cliffhanger like that is that you know everything will be fine because they're not going to kill off a lead character on a dramedy procedural.  It takes away a lot of the suspense.

    ReplyDelete
  52. That's the predictable thing.  I would love it if they really did kill off a main character like that.  Not Beckett specifically, but in the interest of keeping everything fresh, it wouldn't be a terrible decision.  Game of Thrones can pull it off, but that's because the story is so huge that "main characters" tend to change from episode to episode.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hahaha. Good stuff mate. Good to see it has generated a decent amount of interest!

    ReplyDelete
  54. We've already recorded one one the start of this week. This topic will be in the one afterwards :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. So, voted Supernatural, but it looks like I'm in for a treat when I'm done catching up on Fringe. I've watched the first season now, and I love it. Thank god for vacation and bad weather. I also love Barney's getting married, even though it wasn't that big of a suprise. Loved the Buy More, the Delana + ghosts thing, some of the GG stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I voted for Fringe, which was really a great final few moments...

    ReplyDelete
  57. I choose Supernatural, of course. It did what a cliffhanger is suppose to do and left us with so many questions. Not only about Cas being the "new God' and how this will affect the boys, but Sam's remembering hell and what it will do to him. Of course with Misha's questionable status on the show we have that to ponder throughout the Hellatus as well. Supernatural's finales always leave us with our heart in our stomachs, and thats what its all about.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Supernatural and Fringe are on level par for me. Both of them left me absolutely speechless.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I voted for HOUSE because it's the only one I saw : - )
It was schocking, stupid, terrible, horrible, but you want to know what's next.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Definitely went with Fringe.  It left me sitting there with my eyes popping out of my head and my jaw on the floor.

I wouldn't classify any of the others, for shows hat I watch as "cliff hangers"  None of them involved me hanging off a cliff waiting to see what was gonna happen.  All of these shows (Bones, Castle, GoT, Supernatural, Chuck, BBT, HIMYM, and Vampire Diaries) all ended their season by giving be a good teaser as to what stories I'm going to see next season.   But that how could you stop there feeling?  Only Fringe did that for me and that's how I define a cliffhanger.

    ReplyDelete
  61. TVD's cliffhanger wasn't even a cliffhanger

    ReplyDelete
  62. The Chuck cliffhanger was Morgan as the Intersect, not the Buy More's fate.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Fringe! - Supernatural on second place for me.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Seriously, Fringe. A main character DISAPPEARED FROM EXISTENCE. You can't top that!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Thanks for the HIMYM spoiler... Thank YOU SpoilerTV :(

    ReplyDelete
  66. What about The Mentalist??? Seriously? That was the first show that popped into my mind when I read 'cliffhanger'! How could it be that you could not vote it directly!?

    ReplyDelete
  67. Looks like we will have some good stuff to chat about!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Supernatural of course.  It was the ultimate finale.  Jared Padalecki showed  tremendous acting ability playing the slivered of his own soul and psyche fighting each other to  rejoin to try become to whole so he could reach his brother in time help him against Castiel who doing something really crazy.  Castiel taking in the souls of Purgatory so he defeat Raphael and prevent another Apocalypse was incredible.  Sam, barely holding himself erect, trying to kill Cas with an angel killing knife and finding out that Cas was no longer an angel was surprising.  Cas declaring himself to be god and demanding that the bow and worship him or suffer the consequences was quite a cliff hanger.  I would go with that.  It has left a very disturbed fandom on the fate of Castiel.  Hellatus has been difficult. The writers of Supernatural are very good at doing this to us.  It's why love it.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Vampire Diaries!

But not just because of the kiss but also the thing with Jeremy. Anna and Vicki coming from the death was also pretty awesome.

    ReplyDelete
  70. I am completley pissed off by bones and booth finally sleeping together and the writes just not sowing it I mean, Seriously? after all we've waited for it?

    ReplyDelete
  71. Supernatural for 6 years has had fantastic clifhangers

    ReplyDelete
  72. i voted supernatural, Cas becoming a God no one really saw that coming

    ReplyDelete
  73. Siobhan Carroll8 August 2011 at 14:22

I voted for Fringe, as it was a great twist to end the season on and though Fringe really push the boundaries. I also loved the ending to game of thrones but as I have read booked I know what was going to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I voted for Supernatural. Castiel is my favourite character and to see him become God was such an amazing twist for the show. Fringe came a close second.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Hawaii Five-0 had the best cliffhangers.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Jane shooting Red John in The Mentalist. Easily the most shocking. This has nothing to do with my Mentalist bias either, I LOVED the Castle and Fringe cliffhangers also.

    ReplyDelete
  77. hands down, The Mentalist .. it left stunned for a whole week

    ReplyDelete
  78. Fringe! I think it's the best cliffhanger i've seen since Lost... :)

    ReplyDelete
  79. I voted "other", even though I did vote for a show that's already included in the list: Supernatural. But to me, Sam having his soul back and no one knows anything about what could possibly happen now was an even better cliffhanger than Cas going ... well, insane.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I love your comments. I agree with this 100%.
