Darren Aronofsky took a step toward television earlier this summer with a deal to direct the pilot episode of HBO’s Hobgoblin, and now it seems he’s looking to further branch out in the medium. His company, Protozoa Pictures, has just optioned the rights to Daryl Gregory‘s novel Pandemonium with the intention of turning it into a television series. [UPDATE: According to a recent update, Aronofsky's reps are denying reports of the book's acquisition. However, the author himself has already written about the acquisition on his personal website, so it's not clear what's going on. Original story follows.]

Wow, The Walking Dead really started a trend. More and more horror (related) shows are being developed.
ReplyDeleteand this is awesome!
ReplyDeleteDarren is simply an amazing producer/filmaker so it`s about him beeing more involved in a tv-show than just directing some episodes of Hobogoblin(witch i hope get to series, even with the weird plot).
ReplyDeleteHope it turns out to be true I love Darren Aronofsky's films seeing him do TV would be so interesting
ReplyDeleteI just finished the book this is based off of today
ReplyDeleteSo many supernatural-themed/genre shows these days. So many early cancellations later. I think supply is going to outweigh demand, and this coming from a true genre fan.
ReplyDeleteI think Hobgoblin could turn out to be pretty good, I like the premise of it. Hope it'll be picked up.
ReplyDeleteKeep in mind a lot of this stuff is just "in development." There's no guarantee that these projects will ever get a pilot order or a series pick-up.
