This makes sense to me. LaRoche was first and foremost an I.A. investigator, and was obviously a short term fix for the Hightower situation. I've been of the opinion for months now that, despite her name being ceared, HT would not be returning for any number of reasons. It seems i was right. I loved Minelli, i loved HT eventually and i even loved having LaRoche as the boss for a short time (in fact if it was up to me he'd have the job full time) so i hope 'Luther Wainwright' turns out to be just as interesting.
It think LaRoche was more of an interim boss. But its interesting to see 2 bosses quit/lose-their-job because of Red John, maybe it's time writers came up with newer stories
I exprected something like this. They couldn't bring back Hightower and the actor who played LaRoche has a new role on another show. I'm looking forward to what personality this boss will have. We had Minelli who was a father figure for Lisbon, we HT who favored Jane and we had LaRoche who had a fluffy little dog. I just hope this new boss is not some ass who comes down hard on Lisbon yet again for not being able to handle Jane. I think that storyline got kinda old.
I like the title and especially the news about the new boss. We knew LaRoche was not going to be a regular cast member, and Hightower is unlikely to return if Red John (or whoever is the real head of the killings) is not dead. She will not be safe to return to the CBI, at least for awhile. Maybe she'll come back in the future? Who knows. I hope she'll make appearances, because I liked her character very much!
As for the new boss, I hope he won't last half of the season and leave yet again. None of them last very long and it's getting tiresome. I wonder if he'll keep a very short leash on Jane, if he returns working with the team. With all that's happened in the season finale (and his wonderful record of staying out of trouble lol), someone will have to keep him in check eventually. I don't know how his relation with Lisbon will be. It would create some tension if he's a hard butt with Jane and a softie with Lisbon :P
I just hope they'll provide us answers to the mysterious tupperware hidden inside LaRoche's home before (and if) he leaves the show permanently. He's part of the storyline, so I wonder how they'll write him off or if he'll keep making guest appearances throughout the season. He's another character I liked and hope he won't disappear into thin air like Minelli.
Bless Spoilers :) Keeps us happy until Sept. 22nd.
Well, yet another boss, but I don't think we've seen the end of LaRoche in the show. First he shot the guy inside the car, and then he acted weird with all the "Hightower-is-in-a-hotel" thing. And I cannot get off my mind what's inside that tupperware of his...
I hope that Vince and Ellis will continue to appear in the next season in some capacity; I really enjoyed their characters and the odd sort of relationships they had with Jane.
Some of you seem to like LaRoche--I never have and still don't. There is something not "quite right" about him. I can't put my finger on it, but I don't trust him. I agree that the "real" Red John is still very much alive. It's too soon in the series to have found him. There are still four more seasons left, and hopefully more. I say hopefully because maybe someone can talk Bruno Heller into writing more episodes. I don't want it to EVER end! (dream on, Barbara)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Just another boss? First Minelli, Hightower, LaRoche ...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info! I didn't expected a new CBI boss.
ReplyDeleteThis job seems to be more fatal than the Principle's position in Buffy.

ReplyDeletehmm I wonder how the title will relate to the episode...
ReplyDeleteI was sort of hoping they would find a way to bring back Hightower.

ReplyDeleteWell, he occupied the position and function of HT some time.I think after the end of the third season, the new boss will impose a heavy hand.
ReplyDeletethat was my first thought! lol

Wow. The CBI has an abnormally high employee turnover rate for a fake law enforcement agency.

ReplyDeleteBut is it clear that this new boss is replacing LaRoche, or is it Bertram?
ReplyDeleteBertram holds the position of director of the Office of the Attorney General. And here says new CBI boss.

ReplyDeleteI think J. J. LaRoche has to come back - they haven't solved his strange, dark secret yet ... would be too bad if they leave it unrevealed
