No, Dexter didn’t take the breakup well. Neither did Stiles. We talked to the actress, a freshly minted Emmy nominee, who snagged a nod for her seasonlong guest spot on the Showtime series, while she waited for a flight at LAX.
AT: So … Lumen breaking up with Dexter caught you off guard?
J.S.: I was very surprised. I thought everything we had been building toward over the course of the season -- the trust and connection between Lumen and Dexter -- was just thrown away. I had a hard time understanding that. Their vigilante justice was so romantic in a perverse way.

I loved Lumen. Julia did superb job. Hope, we'll see her again.
ReplyDeleteshe sucked
ReplyDeleteLoveee Juliaa, =/, for me...without her, no Dexter, no Michael C hall
ReplyDeleteI would love Lumen to come back I never expected to like her character let alone her relationship with Dexter but in the end I adored it.
ReplyDeleteLuman and Dexter story arch was the best thing of the last season, but I am glad there appear to going back to the show roots
ReplyDeleteI really hope she comes back sometime in the future. Lumen was a great character and one of the few good things in that season.
ReplyDeleteI love Julia Stiles!!!!
ReplyDeleteI really liked Lumen too, made last season really superb. I think that it would be great to have her come back in the very last season to give Dexter someone that he can share his secret with. Maybe I'll change my mind based on what the writers have in store, but I think that that would give the show nice closure (still have him killing, but have him found someone that he share his secret with)-though I know some fans would strongly disagree with me.
ReplyDeleteIf the rumors are true, her character's abrupt exit from the show had more to do with behind the scenes drama than legitimate creative reasons. It's also the probable reason why the new showrunner and producers are very quick to emphasize that Lumen is in the past and Dexter is over her when brought up in interviews, despite the character's ongoing popularity.
ReplyDeletehope she comes back next season
ReplyDeleteLumen is a favorite character of mine! --But I can understand why the writers would end it the way they did, playing on dreams, wishes, hopes--->maybe to show us what these characters have, in order for it to be "real", has to stand the test of time--and that they have to have faith in the future...
ReplyDeleteTo me this would be the best ending, because back in season one at Aster's B-day Party---Dexter says, wishes are for kids....but then in Season 5 we find him making himself one at Harrison's B-day party right after Lumen had announced her departure...IMO Dexter has been trying to get back to that little boy...to innocence lost...and he finally found someone who wasn't afraid to understand him, and somebody who could really relate to him with out setting out to manipulate him or change him.
ReplyDeleteI read an article (probably from a while ago-so you could be right, things change) that states the opposite, that it was an intentional exit and that we should look to the future for Lumen...
ReplyDeleteI'd like to think the door is still open for that. It would be great to have her back.
