Jeremy Irons has said that historical drama The Borgias is "no documentary".
The actor plays Rodrigo Borgia - who became Pope Alexander VI - in the show and told Sky Magazine that it is more about the characters than the costumes and period details.
Irons said: "It's not a documentary, it's a great story. It's high drama and high stakes.

Which is really what you have to tell yourself when watching these things. At least if you know anything at all about the real history. I can't watch anything medieval based since that's this period of history I know really well. Even when I tell myself it's just tv, I get so annoyed at inaccuracies.
ReplyDeletetrue. I don´t know much about the Borgias, so it´s easier to watch it like a tv show, but still I watch it knowing that´s not historical fact and I´m always very aware of what´s being portraied.
ReplyDeleteHistory nuts went crazy over season one. It's sad that Jeremy Irons has to come out and say that a scripted drama isn't a documentary. The word "duh" comes to mind.
