  1. Come on, Fox! We need this movie! It's going to be awesome. I want it in my life!

  2. 3rd movie needs to happen. Want to see the mythology and William. He'd be around 10 now, eh? So much potential.

  3. A third movie would be the perfect way to end the series.

  4. I liked the series quite a bit, but th movies were average at best to me and the second was worse than the first. I'm not sure a third is a good thing....

Then again maybe it will surprise everyone and be incredibly good. X-files deserves a better final chapter than the 2 earlier movies... Ugh - bad!

  5. im surprised there doing a 3rd movie the 2nd one flopped at the boxoffice

  6. Not technically. It made money past its budget, so there's that!

  7. you have to remember though studio only gets 55% back plus marketing so they lost money if anything they lost atleast a good $10 million plus the fact they where expecting atleast $100 million at the domestic boxoffice so sorry to tell you but yes it was a flop big time

  8. and no it didnt make mor money then its budget budget was $30 million it grossed $20 million

  9. LOL, no. I disagree. Guess we have to agree to disagree.

  10. International gross was $47,386,956. Source: http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/2008/XFIL2.php

    Worldwide gross was $68,369,434.

    DVD sales were $16,241,310

    So there you go.

  11. I Want to Believe was a HUGE flop.

It may have made its money back with worldwide sales and DVD rentals, but they didn't expect it to get only $10 million on it's opening weekend (they wanted at least 2 or 3 times that)  when the first movie got $30 million on less screens for less money.

That said, the fanbase is there that they can pretty much break even at least on a third movie guaranteed. That in itself is a feat these days since more big studio movies lose money than make money.

  12. I seriously hope they're gonna greenlight this.

  13. Whether or not 'I Want to Believe' was a flop, I wasn't too thrilled with the film on its own merits. I'd be happy with a third film, and do hope for one, but I want them to do it well. Particularly with Scully, who was just a mess in the last film - overly emotional, stuck in denial, and above all irrational, which is the complete antithesis of her character. And it would be nice if Mulder and Scully worked together in the next film instead of being mostly stuck in two different parallel story-lines. So if they can do that, I'm all for it and I hope they get the opportunity to give the franchise a proper send-off.

  14. I was a huge X-Files fan.  It was one of my first TV passions and definitely the first to get me involved online.  However, they milked this cash cow dry with the last 2 years of the series and turned it into hamburger with the last movie.  Now they want us to rally over the carcass?  No thanks!  If Chris Carter hasn't figured out the truth by now, perhaps it really is not out there.

  15. Do you have the net numbers because a chunk of the money in gross would have gone to other companies for marketing, distribution, retail, etc.?  Gross numbers don't mean a whole lot.

  16. I wouldn't mind a 3rd movie.  The second movie wasn't that great because it was stand alone and OOC Scully. The series ended with a big 2012 storyline so it'd be cool to finally see that and have a mythology related movie.

  17. I actually liked the second movie... though, only when I think of it as a feature length episode.

  18. yes but 55% is returned to the studio probaly 50-60% of production budget should be added for marketing which is barely covered by DVD sales and plus distribution, Retail cost etc.

  19. I really need this movie, we need it. .... gosh, it would be so f'awsome

  21. This needs to happen! Must! Please!!!

  22. If it's a significant improvement to the 3rd movie I'm in. First one was Okay (but not excellent), the second one pretty much a disaster. X-Files deserves to have a better ending than that.

I really want this to happen and it doesn't matter to me if "critics" said the second movie was bad, I loved it and I thought they did an amazing job.
    Please FOX!!! Do it!!!

  26. I hope it works out, even though I didn't like so much the 2nd movie because I was expecting something more in relation with their baby, but this 3rd movie sounds pretty cool.

  27. I love, Love, LOVE the series and the first movie (the second, eh). I would really like if they came up with a good, series capping, mythology wrapping third film to remind everyone why it was so popular in the first place. If not for next year, than for the 20th anniversary (!) in 2013.

  28. The 2nd film was so terrible I'm not sure I want another one.  That film was a real black eye for the franchise.

  29. Those two together can hold up any plot. Bring on the tri-quel!

  30. AKDL'SDKSKLFDFJ! I love X-Files, I really do hope the 3rd movie will be better than the 2nd.

  31. I liked the second movie. It was different. I don't want to get my hopes up for a third and then be depressed if it doesn't happen, but it would give me closure. I think the X-Philes deserve it.

  32. I just want the truth one more time...give us the third movie..and then....
