I think the return of Merle or Morgan will add something interesting. Merle adds some chaos factor and drama, while Morgan adds another layer of humanity.
I think that Morgan can enter once a few more of the group have been killed off later in the series. Merle would be better fit wise for Season Two IMO.
I haven't read the comics, so I have no idea what will happen, but I think someone once mentioned Morgan returns much latr in the comic series....
I might read the comics some time, plus I enjoy not knowing what is going to happen next in TWD. At least so far. It's one of the handful of series I tend to not watch any previews or spoilers for and take each episode as it airs I guess.
I'd really love to see Morgan back. Lennie James is a fantastic actor (one of the best things about the pilot episode) and had amazing chemistry with Andrew Lincoln. Pretty much every scene he was in turned out to be gold (specifically the very last scene with him and his dead wife; very emotionally impactful).
He came back late in the comic, shortly after the Prison arc, so if the writers follow the comic's guidelines, we'll probably have him return to the show around Season 4 or 5. See though, I hope that's not the case, because, since James made Morgan one of my favorite survivors, I want the character back SOONER rather than LATER. The episodes after the pilot lacked the spark that James initially gave the show. Bring him back for Season 2 (possibly filling Tyreese's role) and have him stick around for a while (to make up for Kirkman's stupid decision to kill him off so soon after he was re-introduced).
Oh, and I couldn't give a damn about those other choices on the poll. Merle was a piece of redneck filth who already served his purpose in the storyline (to create initial tension with Rick), and Morales and the Vatos guys were nothing but background characters who nobody knew about thus didn't have a reason to care about.
I like Morgan too ... I can't remember the actors name (Lenny?) but he was so good in Jericho and Hung ... really brilliant fellow. Totally had me sucked in with his sniper scene last season - beautiful piece of work there.
Looks like the Vatos will be back for sure. There has been filming reported at the Goat Farm, that's the location where Rick, Daryl & T-Dog confronted them in s1 to get Glenn back. Apart from that nothing has been confirmed yet.
If Darabont sticks to the comics we won't see Morgan before s4, possible s5 like you said. And I would be totally fine with it, so my choice was Merle. I thought from all the changes Darabont made the Dixon brothers were the best and a return of Merle would give Daryl some good scenes for sure. But most important thing for me would be that they introduce Tyreese & his daughter really quick in s2. I'm afraid Darabont won't do it soon enough, because he decided to keep Shane around for a while, but Tyreese was a better character anyway.
It's been a long time and I can't remember names, but I liked the young man who eventually stayed on at the nursing home to help. You know: the one who, along with Rick, smeared himself with zombie guts.
I've only included season 1 characters/groups that are (at least to our knowledge) still alive, but not part of the main survivor group at the end of the season.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I want to see Merle come back and wreak some havoc, he would make things unpredictable and tense.
ReplyDeleteDixon. It would be nice to see Morgan and his son but there's no hurry for that.

Well, do you want to know if he comes back soon or rather later in the comics?
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... No, no thanks.
