Spoiler TV: The Best TV Show Competition 2011 - R3 - Day 26 - NCIS vs. 24 & LOST vs. The Vampire Diaries
10 Jul 2011
Cancelled Shows NCIS SpoilerTV Article TV Show Comp Vampire DiariesHey Guys,
And so one of the mighty has fallen. The X-Files, some nine years after it ended gave everything it had got to try and beat one of the largest on-line fan based shows of the present time in Chuck but just fell short after a day of to-ing and fro-ing. Gone are the chances in 2011 of an 'X-Files vs. Supernatural' re-match (which had a huge 7648, the second highest STV poll ever behind the 14480 that LOST vs. Supernatural produced last year) but what could be disappointing on one front is exciting on another as the two shows that fought for the TV Guide cover earlier in the year square off in the first of this years quarter-finals... Of course, Supernatural deserves credit that on a day where it breezed past the miserable performance of Charmed managed to earn a haul of over 1,300 votes. The question now remains; can Chuck beat last years champion? The answer is only a few days ahead of us...
Today finds NCIS and 24 in showdown for supremacy on the action-thriller-drama side of the competition in a battle sure to split opinion, whilst the most mouth-watering of clashes occurs in the other poll, as STV-Founding show and last years Semi-Finalist LOST takes on last years Runner-Up in The Vampire Diaries. Today could be huge!
The rules for, for anyone new to the competition are very simple. There will be new sets of shows against each other every day in a new set of polls... simply vote for your favourite and the show with the most votes will win that days poll and head into the next round.
Don't forget to spread the word, and tweet out the competition to friends as well as facebook liking the post...
Also if you are taking part in the prediction competition, don't forget to follow your scores HERE Long time leader Sergey Sevostianov has extended his lead after guessing both Chuck & Supernatural as ydays winners and sits on 64 points. Dance is now tied in second on 59 points with Yvonne Damon after dropping 4 points on the king of the competition (so far :P)
All that's left to say, is good luck to every show...
... and let the battles begin!

I voted for 24 and for LOST...
ReplyDeleteThat's not fair...I like NCIS AND 24!!! Why do you have to make me choose between favorites?! ;-) Just kidding! I chose NCIS but, obviously, I will be happy if either wins!
ReplyDelete24 and Lost got my votes.
ReplyDeleteWhile I didn't care one bit for Seasons 4 through 6, the first 3 seasons were awesome and had very good writing.
24 was purely epic. Even though I learned a great deal from being from a long line of family who were cops and in the military, I still learned a lot from 24. About honor, sacrifice, family, love, devotion, and among other things. So that is why I went with 24!! !!!!
Cant wait for the Chuck vs SPN
ReplyDeleteVoted for 24 and Lost
NCIS and Lost.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch NCIS but I loathe 24. Lost...always gets my vote.
So sad that we will not get a re-match of X-Files and Supernatural this year. Last year, that was my favorite day of the tournament because we had such great discussion. Such a loss.
ReplyDeleteToday I am voting for NCIS because I personally do not like the other shows. I felt my days ticking away in 24 by the time the cougar didn't eat Jack's idiot daughter (although I think I finished watching the third season). LOST was lost to me when it didn't answer a freaking single question in 2 years and only added more. Stefan sucked all joy out of The Vampire Diaries and the only 2 people I ended up really liking were Caroline and Matt. So it's Abby Sciuto for the win for me, because in all honesty, she's the best thing about NCIS.
i voted NCIS and Vampire Diaries
ReplyDelete24 and LOST.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely despised both shows for a lot of episodes but when they got it right, they were masterpieces. I enjoy watching The Vampire Diaries but the quality of storytelling and character development doesn't come close.
And, I just hate NCIS. I hate all the generic procedurals.
Easy 24 and Lost
ReplyDeleteLOST, of course. Absolutely brilliant TV.
ReplyDeleteLOST. It is an amazing show!
ReplyDeleteDidn´t vote in the first pole. I never watched NCIS and I only like the first season of 24.
I voted NCIS and LOST.
ReplyDeleteNCIS was the first show I ever fell in love with and started my love of crime shows. I've only recently watched LOST but it was such an amazing experience to watch it and is now my second favourite show, behind Fringe.
i voted NCIS and LOST
ReplyDeletencis was my first ever favourite show. and even though the recent seasons annoyed me to the point where i have, sadly, stopped watching it, i still always remember all my fave things about those first few seasons so my vote goes to it. i've also never watched 24 but i do plan on it
next one was more tricky but in the end the decision wasn't too hard. as much as i love vampire diaries, it was one of the few shows to survive my "finale year of school tv watching list cut down", for me it can never compare to lost. in my opinion, LOST is probably one of the most awesome shows on tv, especially of any shows i've ever seen. the only show i think i would vote for above lost would be supernatural. so LOST wins my vote, for being so awesome!!
Lost and 24, 2 of my top 3 favorite shows (#1 and #3 respectively).
ReplyDeleteNCIS and TVD. I don't like 24 or Lost, never understood the hype *shrugs*
ReplyDeleteCome on LOST!! White Collar nearly defeated VD in the last round!!!
ReplyDeleteNCIS and Vampire Diaries
ReplyDeleteFirst one is easy..NCIS is a show I enjoy and I've never seen 24.
Second one was much harder.LOST is a weird case for me.I absolutely loved the first season and then in the middle of season 2,I lost all interest!Don't know why..
On the other hand,so far I've enjoyed what TVD has to offer,so I'll go with that!
i voted LOST for simply being awesome (and its currently getting beat my Vampire Diaries) and 24. both are shows that were unique and did something different. both deserve to go through to the next round
ReplyDelete<3 lost <3 Ncis <3
ReplyDeleteThis should be retitled 'favourite TV show', rather than 'best'. Lost is by far a better show than The Vampire Diaries... it isn't subjective at all, it's just a fact.
ReplyDeleteEven though one of these things has a higher Ian Somerhalder content, I *shockingly* have to vote for Lost.
ReplyDelete24
ReplyDeleteAnd, much as it kills me to vote against TVD, I went for Lost because it was one of the first truly great shows I ever watched. I remember how it formed this online community of fans who would come up with so many theories about what would happen and I'd never experienced that with a show before. I even got up at 5am on the day of an exam so I could watch the series finale live on Sky.
I vote for 24 and Lost. (two of the BEST SHOWS in history)
ReplyDeleteI hope noone is cheating (like last year)... We want fair play !!
As much as I don't like (well, ok I don't even watch) the Vampire Diaries, I gotta say I'm kinda happy to see LOST go down. Like I said many times already, one of the most overrated shows in history. Wouldn't mind if it stayed like this.
ReplyDeleteWhite Collar is a pretty good show.
ReplyDeleteI m very upset about 24 and Lost dont have any chance for winning today. Its funny because they r much better then NCIS and especially VD.
ReplyDeleteAnd they r my two favourites shows..
Oh no...LOST has LOST it's lead to TVD?
ReplyDelete:(
I generally enjoy TVD and think it's decent for the twists, etc. but c'mon... seriously?
Isn't this supposed to be a site that has a built-in LOST fanbase?
Not the first time this argument has been brought up and most likely not the last time.
ReplyDeleteI don't really get it, TVD must have a huge, but quiet fanbase. I was just scanning through most of the comments and it looks like most people that made a comment voted for Lost, you hardly see anyone saying they voted for TVD. Nevertheless it's more than 200 votes ahead.
ReplyDeleteWell, but with books and movies and music, what people discribe as being "the best" is usually what's actually their fave ... which is only natural, imo. None of these polls works subjectively. =)
ReplyDeleteI myself never got into Lost. I've seen most of Season 1, and while I really did like the characters, something about that show seemed weird. I can't even tell you what it is.
Both TVD and Lost managed to build up a background in season 1 that allowed for new stories and also characters. There were questions answered, and new questions. They kept the audience / fans intrigued. They both did so in a completely different way. And what people think is the "better" way - that's always an objective opinion. But I wouldn't say one is wrong and the other one is right in his opinion.
This whole business relies on different people having different tastes in genre, style, atmosphere, storytelling ... everything.
And I always thought people being upset or even offended by others thinking another show is better than their top #1 show (thinking their opinion is so very objective), is kind of sad. It's always a matter of personal taste. Personal opinions. =)
I voted for TVD and NCIS.
ReplyDeleteNCIS is one of the most
ineteresting shows about criminal investigations, I enjoy the characters a lot and I also think that NCIS has some of the best dialogues you get to
hear on shows like that.
TVD is just an important show to me for some reasons, so it'll always get my vote.
This one was easy to vote. NCIS and LOST. (I do wonder how come Lost is losing?!?!?, nothing against, VD, but Lost is Lost.It changed the way people watch television)
ReplyDeleteSame thing happened to me with LOST.
ReplyDeleteI would agree with you if the results were decided by professional critics(based on the acting, the writing etc).It that case yes, some shows are better than others and that's not subjective,as you say.
ReplyDeleteBut in this case, when it comes to fans voting,I think that "best" and "favorite" are one and the same! There are fans that don't like some shows even when they're extremely well made.Or fans that like something else better..Point is,when you don't like something, you can't call it "best"..
There are no facts in these polls..It's all a matter of personal taste and that's completely normal!
Hope that made some sense... ; )
I'm surprised we went this long without that argument. It was a popular discussion thread last time.
ReplyDeleteLast year, VD routinely had few comments but large votes. I remember in the final we had to beg VD fans to comment because we had such great discussion with both LOST and X-Files that the final seemed a let down.
ReplyDeleteThat actually makes me feel better, cause there are not many people feeling the same(you're the first one so far..).
ReplyDeleteMy main problem was the constant mystery..And don't get me wrong,I'm all for mystery in a show. What I mean is that I prefer the "answer some questions and raise some others" tactic.
Up to the point I've seen in LOST(and from what I've heard, this is what happened until the series finale),the tactic they used was "raise some questions an add them to the endless pile that already exists".
That's not bad, some people liked it and I understand that.Simply not my taste! : )
Voted for 24 and LOST.
ReplyDeleteNot surprised that LOST is losing though, I saw it coming the minute I saw the possible challenge with The Vampire Diaries.
Wow, you managed to phrase why I never even got through Season 1 of LOST (and I constantly have trouble saying why I never got into it). As I've said many times before, I actually really did like the characters a lot, but I never felt like they actually found answers to any of the stuff that was going on. Which made me feel like even after 15 or 16 episodes, I had no clue what was going on which can get kind of frustrating. I always felt bad for not giving it another try, but you said you've heard that's how the show dealt with it until the very end? Guess I'll never get into it then. (Which is a pitty, 'cause I wanna find out more about the characters. Can't do that without watching the show though *g*)
ReplyDeleteSadly both will probably go down today, but I voted for 24 and Lost, two of the greatest dramas of all time.
ReplyDeleteLost quickly became an addiction when I discovered this show (10 days before 24 actually, during summer 2005). I followed this show from the beginning and I never let it go, while so many people left during season 2. And I was right to continue watching the show. In the end, it is a masterpiece. Seasons 4 and 5 are my favourites. The show was far from perfect (there's no such thing as perfection, except The Wire) but I am sure, I am convinced we will not see such a creative, ambitious show on network TV ever again.
I've always been a fan of urban thrillers (the Bourne trilogy, Heat, Collateral, Se7en, The Departed, The Untouchable, that sort of movies) with charismatic, flawed heroes in action-packed (but not dumb, useless action), fast-paced, well-directed movies. And 24 falls right into that category. This show is a tragedy, the story of a martyr in a post 9/11 world. And I'm a sucker for conspiracy/corruption stories, it's always nice to see the fine line between good guys and bad guys getting shattered, the grey area is the place most 24 character evolve in, that's what I expect from a TV show and you don't see that very often except on cable.
24 is not about having shipper couples, handsome/funny heroes and catching the murderer in the last quarter of the episode because 60 year olds would be confused otherwise (no I'm not talking about [insert the name of a CBS procedural here]). It's about telling a story with high stakes that doesn't let go until the 24th episode. Lots of twists and turns, a charismatic anti-hero, gunfights, explosions and suspense, that's my kind of drug. It's rare to have a show as special as 24 on TV. Fortunately there are still a few shows left on TV in the vein of 24 (= a story per season like an 18 hour thriller movie (or in these cases 9-10 hour movies)) such as Dexter, Damages or recently The Killing.
And thank you for posting the 24 video, Adam :).
I like all 4 shows. This is horrible. NCIS and VD but I almost didn't vote at all.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly why I dropped LOST. I gave it 2 years to answer questions and it never did. I already went through "the truth is out there" but we're never going to reveal it you with X-Files. I find never ending questions to be frustrating instead of intriguing. When the writers admitted that they wrote the finale purposely vague so as to not answer people's questions, I knew I made the right call. That makes me feel like I'm being strung along because the writers don't know where they are going and that's not entertaining to me.
ReplyDeleteNCIS and LOST
ReplyDeleteNCIS is one of my favourite shows. I discovered in season 2, because season 1 I wasn't around when it was airing. I loved it instantly. I have always been a Michael Weatherly fan from his soap days and have followed his career. I also love Mark Harmon. The stories are and the on going relationship of the characters has always intrigued me.
ReplyDeleteI never watched Lost or TVD, but for my friends who are fans of TVD, I voted for that show.
NCIS (I also love 24, but, come on... NCIS has DiNozzo and McGee! :) ) and LOST for me! although I haven't seen neither LOST nor TVD, I think LOST is better... :)
ReplyDeleteindeed!
ReplyDelete24 and LOST. Which are both losing... :( I feel so sad, it's too soon for LOST to leave the competition. 24 has already done much better than last year, so at least it's not as sad to see it lose.
ReplyDelete24 and LOST...
ReplyDeleteNCIS and Lost! Can't believe X-Files lost. Really? WTF? I love Chuck too, but X-Files is better.
ReplyDeleteNCIS all the way. One of those rare shows that gets me all excited to watch it, over and over. Every few years I get obsessed about a show and most of the time they only last a season or two. I love that this is going into season nine. I love these characters, what they do, who they are and how they interact.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts precisely!
ReplyDeleteNCIS and Vampire Diaries for me. I`ve heard a lot of good things about Lost, but I haven`t had time to watch it yet and because I like Vampire Diaries, the show got my vote. My NCIS vote needs no explanation ;)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, got to admit, I hardly follow the discussions and last year I was still mostly lurking on the site, but now I was interested to see some TVD fans' opinions on why TVD is a better show than Lost.
ReplyDeleteLOL what you're saying about the networks thinking they're catering to 60 year olds. I'm in that general range, and I can tell you they've got it wrong if they think we watch procedurals. My peers and I have had discussions about The Killing, The Wire, Treme, The Sopranos, and MASH. Except for me, not big on LOST. I also am the one in my group who likes fantasy-based shows. We like news-related comedy such as The Daily Show and Bill Maher as well as news shows such as Frontline. Some of my friends watched and loved 24, but that was a busy period of my life and I skipped it. Will get the DVDs one day though.
ReplyDeleteI think due to the frequent USA give-aways, there are now a lot of USA shows fans on SpoilerTV.
ReplyDeleteI vote for ncis and lost...
ReplyDeleteI know that is matter of taste but in what world is better vd that lost????...
The Vampire Diaries is beating LOST? Don't make me sick!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say that the NCIS video tribute is awesome! magical! so well done! :)
ReplyDeletePlease people, stop saying the mysteries of LOST went unresolved. It’s a load of bullshit. Most of the answers were extremely subtle, like in episode 4.2 when Daniel Faraday says “the light scatters different here.” There was no emphasis whatsoever on these five words, yet they answer an important question: Why does the Island appear invisible to outsiders? The answer: The light scatters different on the Island because of the “Faraday Effect,” in which a magnetic field will rotate a polarized light source. The Island's strong magnetic field has this effect on the light. Light scattered through the earth's atmosphere is polarized. The light reflected by the Island is rotated by the magnetic field, making the Island difficult to view until you are within the magnetic field's range. Of course we needed to connect Daniel Faraday with the physicist Michael Faraday, and then apply Daniel’s five words with Michael’s “Faraday Effect” to get this answer. The writers didn’t simply have Daniel say all of this. They forced us to do our own research. In episode 6.15, the Man in Black tells Mother that “I'm going to attach that wheel to a system we're building. A system that channels the water and the light.” In that same episode Mother says this about the light: “…a little bit of this very same light is inside of every man. But they always want more.” It’s “life, death, rebirth.” Again, very subtle, but the answer here is colossal. The brilliant bright light that resides at the heart of the Island is TIME. Everyone has a little bit of time, but we always want more. Time is life, death, and rebirth. When the donkey wheel is turned, the light/time passes through the water. As we know from science class, light is refracted when it passes through water, sending it in a different direction. The Island is sent through time when the donkey wheel is turned. I’ll bet my life that the Island originated from Tunisia, where it wasn’t an Island at all. The Egyptians found the brilliant bright light and messed with it (with water). Everything inside the electromagnetic field began to move through time, landing at previous places in the ocean (now it’s an Island). Anyone who turns the donkey wheel (Ben, Locke, the polar bear, etc.) gets sent back to where the Island originated from (the exit point in Tunisia). Mentioning the polar bear, was that mystery ever resolved? Yes, completely, but again, very subtly. The polar bear mystery arrived in part 2 of the very first episode of LOST, and if you hoped to get that answer by the end of season 1, you weren’t in luck. Hell, some fans that’ve seen all six seasons three times through still can’t figure the polar bear mystery out, yet I consider it one of LOST’s most obvious answers. There are few mysteries in LOST that were left hanging and unresolved. It is false and misleading to say that LOST just raised questions without answering previous ones. It is and forever will be the greatest television show of all time.
ReplyDeleteI hate that LOST is up against the Vampire Diaries! I LOVE both of them, but at the end of the day, LOST is the better show by far. I think that LOST is one of the greatest shows of all time! It is more critically acclaimed then TVD, but sadly, I do believe that it will lose today =(
ReplyDeleteLOST answered nearly every mystery it presented, leaving very few hanging and unresolved. In fact, I can't even think of 5 unanswered mysteries. If someone would like to try and name just 3, please do.
ReplyDeleteLOST! All the way! I can't believe it's losing to TVD...
ReplyDeleteReply with a youtube video of one of your favorite LOST scenes. I'll start with a scene from "All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues" (1.11). Jack desperately tries to save Charlie's life by pounding on his chest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwKTFeD0ZFY&feature=related.
ReplyDeleteSorry, maybe I just phrased it wrong..I didn't mean that they ended the show leaving things unanswered.
ReplyDeleteI meant that during the six years they liked to raise more and more questions, which they answered near the show's end.
I think it's better to solve a mystery before moving to the next one.The writers liked to leave things unanswered for a long time! There's nothing wrong with it,it's just not my thing, personally! : )
OK, thanks for elaborating. And yes, you're definitely right. Sometimes it took four seasons to get one mystery completely resolved, such as the polar bears. What season did you tune out in?
ReplyDeleteS2E4 "Orientation" A classic man of science vs man of faith moment from Lost.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blBDxrxWqyY
I stopped watching after season 3..
ReplyDeleteAnd trust me,I wasn't very happy with my lack of interest because I know it's a good show!
The same thing happened with Heroes and Prison Break(although I did finish Prison Break).I loved the first seasons and then I was a little disappointed. The thing is that with the other two shows, there are a lot of people feeling the same way,so I know I'm somewhat right..
But most people who started LOST,followed it to the end.
I don't know,maybe I'll give it a try again at some point..!
"The End", Locke forgives Ben:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqUmcfKK22I
1) Who was Ilana looking for when she went to the cabin? It wasn't MIB because she knew he was in Locke at that point, and it wasn't Jacob because he resided in the foot.
ReplyDelete2) Why was there an ash ring around the cabin? Again, it doesn't make sense for Jacob to have been hiding in the cabin and have put in there since MIB couldn't hurt him, and it doesn't make since that MIB was imprisoned there since the smoke monsters was roaming freely around the island at the time. A second part of this is who asked Locke to help him (in the cabin)?
3) How did the cabin move around on its own?
4) How did Jacob get back and forth from the island?
5) Why did people have to plug in the numbers into the computer if a failsafe key could just permanently block the electromagnetic energy from leaking.
6) What did the failsafe key do? Did it ignite the same bomb that might have gone off in 1977, or was there a second bomb that we never saw or heard about?
7) Did the bomb go off in 1977?
8) How did a magic box transport Anthony Cooper overnight to the island? And if the answer is that it wasn't Cooper, it was MIB, then why was MIB working for the Others?
9) Who was Jack seeing in the hospital when he thought he was seeing a dead Christian if MIB had never been off the island. (And this was before Jack started taking drugs).
10) If Aaron was never significant to the island, what was the point of the crazy Claire dream with the bloody cradle and Locke saying that bad things happened because she didn't take care of Aaron.
And please don't answer with theories that aren't substantiated by what was on the show.
This is such a great LOST moment. These Jack and Locke moments (Exodus, Orientation, There's No Place Like Home, etc.) are so important for Jack and the final outcome of the show.
ReplyDeleteLOST deserves to WIN!
ReplyDeleteYes! Michael Emerson and Terry O'Quinn on screen together always made for a great scene. Two amazing actors playing two amazing characters.
ReplyDeleteI can't help but notice the slow chunks LOST is taking out of VD's lead... can it keep going?
ReplyDeleteIf The Vampire Diares really wins Lost this will be the most fail poll ever!
ReplyDeleteI'll answer the first question first. The answer: Ilana was looking for Jacob at the cabin. In no way is that a theory, it's just fact.Ilana: He isn't there, hasn't been in a long time. Someone else has been using it.Of course Jacob isn’t there; he’s been at the statue. This indicates that she did not know that Jacob was residing at the foot. Only until she saw the piece of cloth bearing a picture of the statue did she know where to go next. This is definitely not an unresolved mystery. Ilana is clearly looking for Jacob. It’s as simple as that.
ReplyDeleteThen why was Ilana disturbed that the ring of ash had been broken? Jacob didn't need the ash to protect himself from the smoke monster because mother made it so that they couldn't hurt each other.
ReplyDelete24 and Lost. I don't vote against Jack Bauer unless it's absolutely necessary.
ReplyDeleteLost has more meaning to me than any show (even my favorite of all-time, the X-Files). The show opened a world for me and made me think about a television show like none had ever done. I'm perfectly happy with the way the show ended and to me the mysteries "left unsolved" were of little to no importance to me.
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, went 24 because I can't stand NCIS for some reason and 24 was entertaining in what episodes I have seen.
Great explanations there. I never made those connections about the magnetic field and the islands light. But for me, I think Lost was more about the journey than anything. It became less about the mysteries and more about these characters that we learnt more about and who grew so much throughout the show. And in the finale, we got a sense of closure for them. It wasn't about the end game, it was about everything that happened to get to that point.
ReplyDeleteAnd by the way, could you please explain the polar bear to me? :)
Yes... The MIB
ReplyDeleteThere’s absolutely no mystery here. It’s very, very blatant why she went to the cabin; she was looking for instructions from Jacob. And what she found was the bottom-left piece of his tapestry, depicting a picture of Taweret. When Ilana showed Bram this piece of cloth, he said, “I guess we know where we’re going.” But on to your question about the ash: After Bram shouted “look at the ash,” Ilana immediately positioned her rifle and began to walk slowly towards the cabin, as if expecting to be attacked. When she returned from the cabin she said, “Someone else has been using it.” She was disturbed because a Smoke Monster could have been inside. But regardless of why she was disturbed about the ash, the answer remains the same: Ilana was looking for Jacob at the cabin.
ReplyDeleteOr in short, exactly what Adam said. She was scared of the Man in Black.
ReplyDeleteWe can go back and forth on this, but there's still a lot to this explanation that doesn't add up.
ReplyDeleteWhy would Ilana be looking for Jacob in a rundown one-room cabin that is encircled by a ring of ash unless Jacob told her he would be there, and why would Jacob be holding up there and place a protection ring around the cabin when he had a nice roomy oceanview statue to live in - which MIB didn't know about. And even if MIB did know about it, he couldn't directly hurt Jacob - so Jacob was perfectly safe in his foot.
And then of course there's the question how Ilana even found the cabin when it had moved as recently as three years earlier. Even Ben couldn't find it after it moved. And had Ilana been to the island before? The Others didn't know her and seemed to keep pretty good tabs on the goings-on of the island. And how did Jacob develop this close relationship with Ilana when he stayed mostly on the island?
Truth is I voted for Lost in this poll because there were a lot of great characters, humor, and emotion - and even with its flaws, I still think it's better than VD - but I get annoyed when someone posts that anyone who finds flaws in the way the story came together just doesn't get it.
Exactly my point. This scene could be interpreted two ways - that Illana was expecting to find Jacob there hiding from MIB (although the ring of ash/mother protection puts doubt on that), or that Jacob might have told her that she would find MIB trapped there, and she was disturbed by the broken ring of ash which confirmed her suspicions that the MIB had escaped and taken Locke's form.
ReplyDeleteVoted 24 on the first poll because I hate NCIS (sorry). Didn't vote on the second poll, because although I love Vampire Diaries, I haven't seen Lost yet so voting for TVD wouldn't seem fair.
ReplyDeleteIf I remember correctly. The others bring them for experiment. That's all.
ReplyDelete... come on guys, Lost can't loose against VD !?!! Is it a joke ??!
ReplyDeleteNo, DHARMA brought them for experimentation at the Hydra station. They were experimented on to see if their physiology could be altered to survive in the climate, and tought to operate "simple" tasks. Hence how the skeleton was found in Tunisia--they sent it into the frozen wheel chamber.
ReplyDeleteIt was already a joke when The Vampire Diaries took out Breaking Bad. Now it's just sad.
ReplyDeleteWell if Lost and 24 are gone then my bracket is shot to high hell.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so!!!
ReplyDeleteCome on LOST!!!!!!! I love both, but let's be honest, LOST is a million times better than TVD
ReplyDeleteHuge fan of LOST before, I am now a big fan of TVD... But I have to say,
ReplyDeleteOnly a 5% gap. We can pull this off. Post the link on twitter and facebook.
ReplyDeleteOnly a 5% gap. We need to spread the link around and get votes for LOST.
ReplyDeleteSpead the link and let's get votes for LOST.
ReplyDeleteSpread the link on facebook. LOST must win.
ReplyDeleteLOST must win. The gap's closing. Let's spread the link and get more votes.
ReplyDelete4% now!
ReplyDeleteWe can definitely do this. I recently deleted my facebook. If you have one, can you post the link on the LOST fan page.
ReplyDelete2% by 11:00 is my goal.
ReplyDeleteJust did! On the LOSTpedia Facebook page too!
ReplyDeleteI posted it on the Lost page's wall. Hopefully it brings in more voters.
ReplyDeleteYep, Dharma. That was one reason why I couldn't stand the "why the polar bears" questions that was hanging over a lot of people's heads still in Season 6. Some of the things on Lost didn't have to get answered with some kind of direct answer. They told you without specificially saying...hey, by the way. That's what I loved about Lost, it actually was a show that allowed you to think and develop theories like none other.
ReplyDeleteI must have missed voting on that. I love Chuck, but the X-Files is the show that made shipping, it's the show that was the pioneer for so many great ones (including Lost)...and it's my favorite show of All-Time.
ReplyDeleteGreat, great. LOST at least must go down with a fight.
ReplyDeleteBooyuh. If LOST loses, I'm still voting for it in the future polls (in the comment section obvi.).
ReplyDeleteI am sick. Where have thou fellow Losties gone? Surely they haven't forgotten the brilliance of LOST. Need I remind them?
ReplyDeleteNeed to speed up... voting ends in 1 hour and 9 mins...
ReplyDeleteThe vampire diaries came 2nd last year and lost came third. So why are people so surpised that the vampire diaries are winning now..
ReplyDeleteI love them both so I dont mind which one wins. For my bracket though ( even though its already very stuffed up) i'm hoping for the vampire diaries to win.
And yay NCIS. So glad it's winning because I love it.
I can't understand this loss. I just can't. I know that there are loads of TVD fans on here, but Lost losing "Best Show" to them? Really??? Wow
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone. That seems like such an obvious answer! How did it turn the wheel though?
ReplyDeleteIt's not because you made it to the final that you're stronger than the one who lost in the other semi-final. LOST only finished 3rd because it met Supernatural before The Vampire Diaries did. If I recall correctly, LOST got 49% of a huge amount of votes against Supernatural whereas The Vampire Diaries only got 15% in the final, so it is a little surprise. However, I understand that The Vampire Diaries fandom have grown this last year whereas the LOST one may be less active, so that can explain the result.
ReplyDeleteThat's the reason. LOST has ended more than year ago, TVD is more active than ever. However there was a point when LOST was like 500 votes behind, and it only finished with less than 200 votes less than TVD. If there was more time, it could have catch it.
ReplyDeleteI also posted on the Lost page wall. It still...lost....but I like to think our postings brought at least a few votes.
ReplyDeleteOH DAMN im too late, LOST ALL THE WAY for me, sorry but VD is awful.
ReplyDeleteConsidering how much unjust hate the show receives (like for supposedly not answering questions, for supposedly introducing magic into the show, for supposedly introducing things into the show that made no sense even though none of those complaints are true; everything was explained in a way that made sense and had nothing to do with magic), I find it hard to call it overrated.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Despite the show's faults, the show has already proven itself to be culturally iconic.
ReplyDeleteThe polar bears were brought to the Island by the DHARMA Initiative, who kept them in cages at the Hydra station. Polar bears possess keen memory and adaptability instincts, making them prime candidates for studies in electromagnetic research (according to Pierre Chang in “The New Man in Charge”). After solving complex puzzles at the Hydra (obtaining fish biscuits), the bears were tranquillized and taken to the Orchid where they were put in a familiar cold climate to push the wheel. -Mentioning the DHARMA Initiative, that’s another mystery completely resolved. -Have you ever heard Pearson Moore's "Christian Shephard" theory (if you want to call it a theory. I take it as fact now).
ReplyDeleteOK. Done. No way do I put NCIS in front of 24. I love Bellisario and all, but I can't bring myself to do it. Perhaps if you have to consider season 6 of 24, then I guess it makes sense. If you asked me Airwolf vs NCIS, no contest. Airwolf all the way!!!
ReplyDeleteI definitely love the Vampire Diaries, though, I want 24. So sad, 24 doesn't beat NCIS. :(

One easy choice for me and one very hard one
ReplyDeleteNCIS used to be me all time favourite show. The most recent seasons have annoyed me a bit but I choose to remember the older seasons that I love. Never really got round to watching 24 but I do plan on it sometime soon
The hard one for me was lost or vampire diaries. VD is one of my fave shows at the moment. School has made me cut down very heavily on the amount I watch but VD remains a constant viewing. But then there's lost. Lost which I reckon is one of the greatest shows ever. I still watch it, season one to season 6, even though ts been over for over a year. So, regardless of how much I love vampire diaries, lost wins for me. The only show that I would be able to vote for over lost would be supernatural. But I really wanted to vote vampire diaries
It's funny how all the most voted for polls have had supernatural as a contender
