Deadline reported today, that True Blood's Season 5 is a sure thing:

Big news at the opening of the True Blood panel at TCA: Series creator/executive producer Alan Ball said he has just closed a deal to do another season of the HBO series, effectively sealing the fifth-season renewal of the hit vampire drama. Ball disclosed the fact that he has re-signed in response to a request to address speculation that Season 4 could be his last. "I have no desire to leave," he said. "Doing the show, I'm having more fun than I have ever had in my life." He later said that he and the show's writers are already breaking stories for Season 5 and one of them is about "how one of the vampires was made."

  2. and does anyone here think that season 5 wont be based off the 5th book cause Alan ball said at comic-con that in future seasons true blood would move away from the books completely and wouldnt be based off a corresponding book

  3. If that's what he said then that's what's likely to happen.

  4. I think they will take elements from the corresponding books, but more and more it will be a different direction.

With Caludine dead already, the Vampire hierarchy all screwed up (from the books) and the witches being completely different plot wise that the books, less and less of the future plots can really be included in the series without MAJOR overhauls.

I will be happy if we get to meet were-tiger Quinn, but I'm not sure that will happen even at this point.... sigh.

  5. Just a no-brainer to pick this up for another season.... or two honestly.

  6. Right.  I doubt HBO would have let this show die even if Alan Ball didn't renew his contract.

  7. Not a shocker since True Blood is by far the most watched series on HBO.
