Thanks to Bruce_F for the heads up.
Solid start for Starz’ Torchwood: Miracle Day: The new international version of the UK hit opened to 1.5 million viewers on Friday night across two airings. Through the full weekend, Miracle pulled down 2 million viewers, a good number for a Starz series. The numbers match the debut of Camelot, which, yes, was cancelled, but before that it was the network’s highest-rated series premiere to date.

kool can do better get more veiws in the uk alone
ReplyDeleteYeah the numbers mean little really. Nice for Starz to have a hit if it becomes one, but I don't think there's any worry of Torchwood being "cancelled" if Starz has low numbers. It will just go back to the Beeb like it used to be.
ReplyDeletePersonally I LOVED the Miracle Day premiere!
@DarkUFO Hey this reminds me, are you going to add a 'what did you think of this episode" poll for Torchwood? I didn't notice one for the Season Four/ Miracle Day premiere last week..
ReplyDeleteStarz already has a pretty big hit in Spartacus. I think they took on Torchwood to turn themselves into a real 'genre' network.
ReplyDeleteI am all for ANY cable network getting more into series. Most of the best work on TV is from cable the last 5 or 10 years really. More "original" cable series the better.
ReplyDeleteDon't be so sure. Torchwood is on the air because Starz is helping to finance the show. Without Starz, Torchwood would need another financial partner besides the BBC to stay on the air. I doubt the BBC would produce this show on its own again. That's why Torchwood ended up on Starz in the first place.
ReplyDeleteYou're probably right.
ReplyDeleteI didn't know BBC was on the edge of cancelling Torchwood if they did not find a partner to go in "halfsies" with them. With COE being a hit for them I assumed they'd want to do more series with or without financial backers.
