Thanks to Dahne for the heads up.

NICE!
ReplyDeleteI think it is safe to say that a few years from now when we are all watching this movie, it will end with us yelling, "Krrriiiiippppkkkeeee!" Don't say I didn't warn you. :-P
ReplyDeleteit's funny, i had been about to scroll down and write "i'm very excited about this" and then i saw the last line of the article on this page "supernatural fans will be very excited about this". they got that right :D
ReplyDeletecan't wait to see it
I will suspend judgement on this untll more is known about the plot.
ReplyDeleteI''ve never been a fan of horror movies and since I saw the Supernatural episode, Hollywood Babylon, I just can't take them seriously anymore,in any case.
I also don't subscribe to the fact that if a writer has created something good (as with Supernatural) he will hit the target every time.
I think each new project should be judged on it's own merit.
However, if he can bring something fresh to the genre, I'm all for it.
Good for him :) I guess that the little jib in the French Mistake wasn't so fake after all
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with you. The other titles he has had don't jump out at you genius shout 'genius'! Originally, he wanted to do another Kolchak. I'm glad he turned it into Sam and Dean, but I have a copy of what the first draft of the original script looked like. I'm glad we got the one we did get. I don't mind the fact that Supernatural does episodes that pokes fun at itself and makes me laugh. The humorous episodes interspersed within the horror and drama give the show the qualities the draw the fans. The writing, the acting and the charisma of its stars are what it going. He is has a winner there. I am going to wait and see.
ReplyDeleteI'll play the waiting game. Wasn't a failed television show this season by a Supernatural writer looking at life from the point view of ghosts and monsters of some kind?
ReplyDeleteI didn't mean that I didn't like the episode of Hollywood Babylon as such but just that it made me aware of how horror films are made and that there isn't any thing horrific about them at all.
ReplyDeleteI just can't take them seriously any more!
I have two degrees of judgement on Supernatural episodes:- those I love and those I like very much.
There is only one episode that I really don't like.
I agree with everything in your post although I feel that the charisma of the actors is really really important.
I enjoy series such as X-files and Lost and I was set to enjoy Fringe as well, as it would qualify as my kind of show.
Well, I watched the first episode and that was it. The two lead actors didn't appeal to me in any way and I just wasn't interested in knowing about their adventures.
This was way before I ever saw an episode of Supernatural, by the way, which I only discovered on dvd last Christmas!
All this just to say that the choice of actors, who have charisma and can reach out to the spectator, is of great importance.
I want to care about what happens to the characters on screen. I want to laugh with them and cry with them, otherwise , for me, there's no point in watching.
regards
Good for Eric! Though I hope it's quality is closer to SPN than say.... Boogeyman.... or Tarzan....
ReplyDeleteIf you're talking about "Being Human", I wouldn't say it failed. From what I heard, it seemed to be doing quite well (and I watched the first few episodes, and it wasn't bad at all; if Hulu had kept putting out the episodes regularly, I would have kept watching).
ReplyDeleteIs it bad that the first thing I thought of when I saw this was Octocobra! XD
ReplyDeleteGood for him. I can't wait to see the movie.
ReplyDeleteHELL YEAH! Going to watch and hide my eyes from the screen. :D
ReplyDeleteLoL! I did too!
