Jo was one of the only female characters I like, so yay!! I just hope they don't make her Dean's love interest. I always thought of them more as siblings.
Powers is a cop show pilot based on a graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis. It's about two detectives who deal with crimes involving people with superhuman abilities, a.k.a. powers.
They've already cast Lucy Punch and Jason Patric as the two detectives.
Wonder how she'll return. Another Alt-universe ep? Anyway, I think it'll have something to do with Cas ("If I go back in time and kill Jo, then....Dean will be sad! yes! Wait, she dies anyway so...Ah, hell, I'm just gonna do it anyway")
Oh yay! I always loved Jo. I never understood why her character got so much hate. I'm sure it'll only be for one ep and she'll probably be a ghost or something, but I'm happy anyways. I just hope they don't make her a demon.
She was hated a lot in season two, especially by TWOP. (Then again, they hate everything.) Part of the reason Jo didn't appear again until season five, actually.
I think he's awesome. His speech about his demotion in Dark Side of The Moon gave me freakin' chills. And at the same time I was watching him in a comedic role on Psych, so it was very weird..
Bwah!!! While they may refer to Ghost, I don't think you have to worry about this one. I doubt the Dean and Jo fight is worth getting into again for the show runners.
She was hated everywhere and was the first concession Kripke made to the fans. It's why they burned the Roadhouse down when originally they were planned for future seasons.
I'd disagree. Jo was not appealing to me at all in the beginning. She got better when she disappeared for long stretches and when they gave up on her being a semi-permanent love interest for Dean. I only truly liked Jo at her death. The writers gave her a great death. Too bad they didn't make her more tolerable in the beginning. The Jo in my head was far better than the one on screen.
"The Jo in my head was far better than the one on screen"
That seems like a writing problem. I see the early episodes all the time in the mornings on TNT and I don't get why she was so grating to people. If anything, I found her early appearances to be more innocuous as opposed to say, interesting or memorable.
Didn't care for Jo. Thought she was a bit of a caricature. The pseudo-strong female who has a bad attitude for no reason other than the writers think acting like b*tch is shorthand for strong, independent woman (and because they think it's somehow sexy). Then, when all is said and done, they have nothing to back up the attitude. Can't stand that. Blonde Ruby was the only stand out female for me. Angel Ana had potential too. Wish she'd stayed around for a while and became Castiel's love interest. Seemed to be a history between them.
I'm pretty much neutral on Jo as a character, but I only want to see her if it's in a flashback or some other way where she's not 'real'.Or maybe the boys go back to heaven for some reason and find her there. So long as she's gone again by the end of the episode. Death is a joke on Supernatural - and no, I'm not referring to Julian Richings' character. I love my show but enough is enough.
Regardless of my feelings about characters who have passed on, I think Supernatural is overdoing it with all of these dead character appearances. There aren't many recurring characters that they haven't brought back from the dead. You're right. Death isn't taken seriously enough on this show.
He also got bored with the roadhouse idea too. At least that is what he says in interviews. Yeah I remember when Jo first appeared and the backlash that was out there for her character was sad. I didn't hate her, but I they way they wrote her just didn't feel like the character she they had been describing either. I think part of the backlash was everyone wanted the show to stay just about Sam and Dean and no steady girlfriend for either character. They thought it would interfere with the chemistry of the boys.
I agree. A few people defying death or appearing on Supernatural after death would be absolutely normal. However, the instances of people dying and being resurrected combined with characters who appear after they're dead is ridiculous.
It's overkill to the point where not only does death have a lessened emotional impact on storytelling but now, with Jo's upcoming reappearance, it also sullies an extremely well done character death that should of probably been left alone.
It's not that they can't be resurrected but that the shouldn't. It used to be that death on Supernatural was like a punch in the throat. It hurt and you felt the ramifications for weeks. Now death is more like a bank lock box. You put in your valuables (or favorite characters) for a little while but you know you can also retrieve them. I really liked Rufus but when he died my reaction was less shock and sorrow that he died and more speculation about when and how he would come back. The characters and the audience deserve more than that.
"All my sources say Alona Tal is not on deck for a return to "Supernatural" as of right now. I'll keep you guys posted if something changes."I'd wait for official confirmation before rejoicing. ;)
I'm with ya! When he first got cast I was sooooo excited and giddy, cause it was Kurt-freakin'-Fuller... and then Zachariah came along... such a disappointment.
It indeed does sound interesting. Thanks for a little info on that!
And also, I'm so happy to hear she'll be back. But. I kind of think it won't last long. At all. But well, even just one episode is better than none at all. I always loved her character. Can't wait to see her join the screen with the two brothers again.
I am way to late for this conversation :( Everything I feel is already said and much better. Just this, I also hope her appearance is somewhat like the young Mary Winchester in Mommy Dearest and not the real Jo coming back. SPN I love you, but plz stop bringing back all the dead characters or stop killing them in the first place - your choice :) Either than that there's a bunch of good actors out there I'd like to see on SPN. Resurrection stoped beeing fun a few seasons ago.
Everyone is hated on TWOP unless they're called Dean or Cas. I wouldnt use them as a standard for what is and isnt liked on the show, contrary to what they might think they are not the voice of all fans.
I agree and I keep my fingers crossed that it won't be a resurection. At least many of the coming back from last year (except for Samuel and Sam of course) weren't resurection. Everyone jumped to conclusion that Azazel, Mary...Ellen, were coming back but at least it was hallucination/Mother of All/Alternate univers or Pam/ash the year before but it was Heaven. We'll just have to wait and see for that one (^^; for Rufus what was sad was that we knew he would died weeks...and even months I think, before he did...)
^^; but your question was just ''how is that even possible'', there's 10s ways of it being possible, I never said it was something new....or you have the Doppelganger that it never been try if I remember correctly :) I remember Dean searching about it, suspecting Sam to be one in 6x06, not sure if they actually hunted one before
Jeez people, who said anything about resurrection? You act like you don't know Supernatural at all. Most likely she'll be back as a ghost or a monster taking her shape or in heaven. There are many ways to bring her back without technically resurrecting Jo. Relax.
Having said that, I gotta say I don't like the news. Of all people, do they really have to give Jo another episode? Didn't we already have enough of her? I mean, people don't even like her that much. Nobody needs her back, really.
Oh yes, they did. Say hello to one of them. I probably hate Jo more than I ever did any other character on SPN. The reason? most of all the riddiculous, forced and far-fetched "love" relationship they created for her with Dean. I hated the way they made Dean act around her. So not him. Plus, there were absolutely no chemistry between them. Plus she was really annoying. Like a whiny, confused little girl pretending she was a grown up. It's not what a kick-ass girl hunter should be like.
Bringing John back would be far more juicy, interesting and plot-twisting than any other resurrection they've ever made (besides Sam and Dean). I'd really love to see him back as a ghost or sth. Or some more flashbacks with John and the boys (but the JDM John, not the young one). Or even some monster taking shape of John. Would love to see the boys' heartbreak when they see him.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Yay! I wonder how she returns. This should be interesting.
ReplyDeleteStill want JDM to come back, though. I miss John. And Richard should also come back. I also miss Gabriel.
I JUST SCREAMED AT THE POST ON THE HOME PAGE. I AM SO FREAKIN EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteJo was one of the only female characters I like, so yay!! I just hope they don't make her Dean's love interest. I always thought of them more as siblings.
ReplyDeleteWoah, woah, woah. Way to bury the lead. Alona Tal is joining the Powers pilot!? Holy crap. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat's Powers about? I edited the headline, by the way!
ReplyDeleteSo Jo is being resurrected too. Sounds like a one-shot deal. So ghost, heaven, alternate world, flashback, or other? What do you guys like it will be.
ReplyDeletePowers is a cop show pilot based on a graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis. It's about two detectives who deal with crimes involving people with superhuman abilities, a.k.a. powers.
ReplyDeleteThey've already cast Lucy Punch and Jason Patric as the two detectives.
Ooh, interesting!
ReplyDeleteThis better not end with Jo, Dean, a pottery wheel, and the Righteous Brothers.
ReplyDeleteYes! Israeli pride :P
ReplyDeleteWonder how she'll return. Another Alt-universe ep? Anyway, I think it'll have something to do with Cas ("If I go back in time and kill Jo, then....Dean will be sad! yes! Wait, she dies anyway so...Ah, hell, I'm just gonna do it anyway")

ReplyDeletePeople hated Jo? I was not aware.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget Kurt freakin' Fuller!
ReplyDeleteMe neither. Where was she hated?
ReplyDeleteLove Kurt, but hated Zachariah, so no thank you!
ReplyDeleteYup, she got a lot of hate.
ReplyDeleteShe was hated a lot in season two, especially by TWOP. (Then again, they hate everything.) Part of the reason Jo didn't appear again until season five, actually.
ReplyDeleteI think he's awesome. His speech about his demotion in Dark Side of The Moon gave me freakin' chills. And at the same time I was watching him in a comedic role on Psych, so it was very weird..
ReplyDeleteThat is sad and unfortunate. She was definitely one of the better recurring characters SPN has had.
ReplyDeleteWatching Kurt on Better With You (still bitter it got cancelled) was definitely a shock after seeing him on SPN!
ReplyDeleteI love his character on Psych. Best M.E. ever.
ReplyDeleteYup, he's one awesome coroner. Would've been funny if he played a Reaper or something on SPN
ReplyDeleteBwah!!! While they may refer to Ghost, I don't think you have to worry about this one. I doubt the Dean and Jo fight is worth getting into again for the show runners.

ReplyDeleteHeh. I have no qualms about a Dean/Jo match up but I do hate Ghost with a passion. :)
ReplyDelete"The Jo in my head was far better than the one on screen"

I didn't know that either. Kripke shouldn't of caved.
ReplyDeleteMullet + beer drinking MIT graduate = win.

ReplyDeleteI am going to point out that the show is called Supernatural, to me that means that something can die, but doesn't mean it is going to stay dead.
ReplyDeleteI agree. A few people defying death or appearing on Supernatural after death would be absolutely normal. However, the instances of people dying and being resurrected combined with characters who appear after they're dead is ridiculous.

I agree Bruce - Jo died a hero's death - she should be left to rest in peace.
ReplyDeleteAnd yeah too much resurrection is 'overkill' (snicker)
Better get them to resurrect Balthazar too. He can take care of your Ghost/Unchained Melody problem.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. What's dead should stay dead because every resurrection lessens the emotional power of a character death at this time.
ReplyDeleteWow, I can't believe I never noticed that was the same person lol. Kudos to him.
ReplyDeleteROFL! My favorite comment today. Balty was awesome.
ReplyDeleteIt's not that they can't be resurrected but that the shouldn't. It used to be that death on Supernatural was like a punch in the throat. It hurt and you felt the ramifications for weeks. ReplyDeletevery interesting :)
ReplyDeleteThrilled to hear Alona will be back I wonder how she'll return
ReplyDeleteCarina MacKenzie from Zap2It says:
ReplyDelete"All my sources say Alona Tal is not on deck for a return to "Supernatural" as of right now. I'll keep you guys posted if something changes."I'd wait for official confirmation before rejoicing. ;)
Glad she's going to be back in an episode, I liked Jo.
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya! When he first got cast I was sooooo excited and giddy, cause it was Kurt-freakin'-Fuller... and then Zachariah came along... such a disappointment.
ReplyDeleteYAY! Best news ever!
ReplyDeleteNow all TPTB need to do is make sure to not screw the character over again. I've had enough of that!
Is taht her real account? It's not verified...
ReplyDeleteIt indeed does sound interesting. Thanks for a little info on that!
ReplyDeleteAnd also, I'm so happy to hear she'll be back. But. I kind of think it won't last long. At all. But well, even just one episode is better than none at all. I always loved her character. Can't wait to see her join the screen with the two brothers again.

My best guess-Cas uses Jo against the boys
ReplyDeleteEveryone is hated on TWOP unless they're called Dean or Cas. I wouldnt use them as a standard for what is and isnt liked on the show, contrary to what they might think they are not the voice of all fans.
ReplyDeletehow is it even possible for her to come back unless it's an alternate reality thing
ReplyDeleteaawwww don't make me cry again thinking of Balthy :( I have to believe he's still alive or I won't survive 'til fall
ReplyDeleteflashback, heaven, alternate reality, some creature taking her shape, ghost, dream univers, hallucinations...name it ^^;
ReplyDeleteI agree and I keep my fingers crossed that it won't be a resurection. At least many of the coming back from last year (except for Samuel and Sam of course) weren't resurection. yes but those have all been done before they should try something new

ReplyDeleteBut wasn't it Alona herself who tweeted she'd be back?
ReplyDeleteDid we get enough of her? Not me.
ReplyDeletePeople didn't like her? Some of us did.
Nobody needs her back? I do.
Stop 'speaking on behalf of the fandom' because some of us DO like her and DON'T appreciate the hate. So sick of it.
