  1. I voted for Battlestar and for HIMYM...

  2. It's best I don't vote in the first one because I think Firefly is overrated but I've never seen more than a few scenes from BG.

In the second, it's HIMYM for the win because I love Neal Patrick Harris and I haven't seen Nikita.

My bracket hopes for other things.

  3. HIMYM and Firefly <3 for me.

  4. I used to think Firefly was overrated too, and even after seeing the pilot, I wasn't impressed.  but once I watched the rest of it, it was hard not to fall in love with the show.  :)

  5. I liked Firefly, and I didn't like BG. Simple.
Haven't seen Nikita, but I do like HIMYM

  6. Things I regret doing: Choosing BSG to win in my bracket. xD I don't even know why I did it, I love Firefly and the fanbase really came out of the wood-works for the Romantic Couple comp.

  7. As much as I love Nikita,it'll never be nearly as good as HIMYM

    ReplyDelete
  8. Firefly was leaps and bounds better than BSG so that was easy for me.

Second one was easy too. Never liked Nikita and HIMYM is a fun show so it won out.

  9. Sorry.  I saw every episode and the movie.  I still think it's overrated.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I voted for Nikita but it looks like is loosing....for now:)

  11. The first matchup is CRUEL!

I have to say Firefly because it was more consistent, but there is five times as much content in Battlestar....so it's not really fair =(

    HIMYM - No brainer.

  12.  How can you people say, that Firefly was much better than Battlestar? In which aspect? Was it better because you liked it more? Each one was awesome, but since they're completely different, there's no way you can compare them like this. They are both of the absolutely best shows ever made.

Personally, my vote goes to Battlestar, since sadly I think Firefly didn't get enough space to show its full potential and I don't believe it'd manage to keep the level it set for itself.

  13. Not different than me :) I watched Firefly because of all the "best show ever" pressure, but I too think it's overrated. It's great, yeah, no argument there. But I'm not sure it deserves all the praise.

  14. I voted the same way for the same reason.
BSG was one of the better executed Sci-Fi series ever on TV.... Firefly never got far enough to really evolve and spread its wings even. Great potential, but a bittersweet ending that came far too soon.

    I chose BSG...

I like Firefly, but it's really overrated.

  16. BSG and NPH... erm I mean How I Met Your Mother.

    Dear (fill in name),
The time we spent together, however long it was, meant the world to me. I would love to see you again, but unfortunately I cannot.
You see, I am a ghost. I can only materialize once every decade on the anniversary of my death. I chose to spend my one day among the living with you (fill in name). Perhaps we will meet again in another decade, provided you keep your figure.
Until then, all my love from beyond,
Barney (I hear that guy was awesome)

  17. I agree about the Walking Dead.  I watched it and enjoyed it for the most part, but I thought it was overrated.

    ReplyDelete
  18. It is very cruel indeed!

    ReplyDelete
  19. My guess is that if Firefly had lived for 2 or 3 seasons, it would not have its legendary cult status.

The bonding of its fans over the way Fox handled it made many of its fans blindly passionate about the series.

Very original, very well executed even, but just not enough of it to be one of the best shows ever IMO.

I own the DVD, the BD of the series and the fan documentary 'Done the Impossible' - so I am a fan. Just have perspective...

  20. voted for HIMYM... have no opinion on the other poll

    ReplyDelete
  21. Firefly

And I love both shows on the second poll, but I went with HIMYM because I've been a fan for so much longer.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The first one was a hard choice. Loved both, but had to go with BSG and have my fingers crossed it will overtake Firefly.
Since I haven't watched Nikita and find HIMYM entertaining, that got my vote as well.

  23. Firefly and HIMYM.. Definitely Firefly!!! Can't Stop the Serenity!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Firefly! Firefly!Firefly! Firefly! and HIMYM... did I say Firefly?? :D Love Nathan Fillion!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. yes, that's my point too! :)

    Firefly and HIMYM...

    ReplyDelete
  27. I also liked Firefly, but come on guys... BSG IS the best series ever made. It has the perfect development and ending. IMO it's better than everything else, even Lost.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Too easy tonight..

Battlestar Galactica is in my Top 3 of all time favorite shows..!What else do you need?

As for the second poll,I've never watched HIMYM and followed Nikita until episode 11,but then I kind of lost interest. So,I think I'll stay away from that one...

  29. How I Met Your Mother although I do not watch it nor Nikita.  I was a Firefly fan

hard choice between Firefly and Battlestar

    ReplyDelete
  31. So... did you vote for Castle every time just because there's Nathan Fillion in it?

    ReplyDelete
  32. not just because Nathan's in it, but because I love the shows! Of course Nathan is one thing that makes me love that shows, but not only that! It's like... loving Johnny Depp, I love him but I don't like every film in which he appears ... :)

  33. Nikita is a niche show on the CW. Whether it's good or not, it would never win over the mind-numbingly average HIMYM.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I voted Firefly and Nikita.

BSG got off to a strong start, but I felt it went off the rails with the Cylon religion and mysticism, and by the end, I was glad to see it go.  Firefly, on the other hand, didn't grab me right away, but watching it now, I think that was mostly due to FOX's interference, and the overall quality of the show was excellent.  "Objects in Space" was terrific, and who didn't love Christina Hendricks as "Our Mrs. Reynolds"?

Nikita and HIMYM are so different, both in genre and longevity.  My estimation of HIMYM will rise if and when they finally do a great job of pulling off the bit the show is titled after.  I don't know where Nikita will go in the future, but while HIMYM has had some fun episodes over the years, I gave Nikita's one season thus far the edge in quality over your average season of HIMYM.

  35. A lot of people will no doubt talk about the amount of episodes of BSG/Firefly, but that has its pros and cons.

BSG had more episodes which is great - but it also didn't deliver on its promises.

Firefly had few episodes, which is bad - but it also didn't have time to screw it up.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well, that's kinda like saying "Two & A Half Men" is better than "Juno" or "500 Days of Summer"
with the only reason being it's had more 'space.' More episodes does not equal better show.

The fact BSG went on for longer could actually be its downfall... it had more of a chance to screw it all up (which, you know, it kinda did... Seasons 3 and 4 split the fan community, with half saying it was horrid, the other loving it).

Saying that, I'm still for BSG. The first two seasons were better than mostly anything I've seen on TV.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Isn't that the only reason to vote for that show?

    ReplyDelete
  38. "God did it!" isn't really the perfect ending in my book. The fact the writers admitted they were making it up as they went along didn't help either.

Though, the first couple of seasons were miles above most TV shows.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Like I always say, never underestimate a TV show just because it didn't air many episodes.

If a 2 hour movie can captivate and influence so many, so can one season of a TV show - if not moreso.

Also, I didn't even have the internet when Firefly was airing - had nothing to do with the "community" or what FOX was doing to it - and I still adore the show.

Different folks, different strokes. Has nothing to do with perspective, just opinions.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Easy today, Firefly and HIMYM

    ReplyDelete
  41. I'm frankly shocked at all the people saying Firefly is overrated. Yeah, maybe it wouldn't have been able to keep up the amazing quality of storytelling that it it established in S1 but we'll never know. We have to go with what we do know and that is that it was a nearly perfect season of television. "Out of Gas" is one of the best Whedon episodes ever(and I've seen them all more than once) and it is barely a head above the other Firefly episodes.

BSG on the other hand managed to take a great premise and drive it into the ground. Repeatedly.  If we want to compare only the first season then it becomes a little closer. However, I thought all the politics in BSG were badly handled and nearly always felt forced upon the story to make it seem more gritty and real. Don't get me wrong, I own BSG on DVD because I'm a fan. But it was far from the "greatest sci-fi ever".

    ReplyDelete
  42. I agree with you. I think it's a great show, and I liked the movie even more than the series, but for what it is (even as good as it is), it's still overrated by most.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Battlestar and HIMYM.  If Nikita had a few more seasons under its belt I would of selected differently.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I agree it peaked in Season Two and Three, but I actually liked the finale.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Never underestimate the HIMYM fandom,me included.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I liked most of the character pieces in the finale (and the 'splosions) but ultimately, I felt let down most of all by everything being answered by "God." I always loved the religious elements of BSG but I really didn't like that it took over the entire show and eventually became the reason for everything.
