7 Jul 2011

Hi ! Since Starz is preparing to launch the 4th season of Torchwood tomorrow, I thought it would be appropriate to have a poll about this Doctor Who spin-off starring John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness. So here it is :

Of course, you can still participate to the first 5 polls :

- What is your favourite season of Breaking Bad ?
- What is your favourite season of True Blood ?
- What is your favourite season of Burn Notice ?
- What is your favourite season of Parks and Recreation ?
- What is your favourite season of Doctor Who ?

  1. Children of the Earth by far.

  2. Children of Earth changed Torchwood from a lighthearted and fun series to "must see" television.

  3. Children of the Earth was fantastic.  Winner winner, chicken dinner.

  4. Children of Earth turned Torchwood from fun, lighthearted but still occasionally dark drama into a depressing, badly written, plot hole-eaten farce that consisted mainly of banter and shock tactics. Series 4 looks much the same. Shame.

  5. I prefer Season 2.  The episodes with their Doctor who couldnt die (notice a theme thats appeared all the way through every season of Torchwood? I think its MR Davies pet obsession). were some of the best in my view. I think Burn Gorman is a very underrated actor.

To me Torchwood has almost had its 'alien' in Captain Jack.. again another character who cannot really die, assisting the human characters against otherworldly threats. Its almost Dr Who minus the Tardis.

The problem with the earlier seasons of Torchwood was almost that there was too many characters for the finite story.

  6. Got better with every season. S1 started pretty weird and I almost stopped watching, but Countrycide which had a little old school slasher feeling to it turned things around for me. S2 already got pretty dark with Owen's death and the resulting story line. Plus Ianto got a bigger role within the team. S3 was pretty different, but even slightly better than the already excellent s2.

  7. Season 3 hands down. S1 was strange while S2 was excellent about half way through (with Owen's storyline and a fantastic finale). I understand that COE was no fun and that it was mad depressing, but I thought that it was both phenomenally well paced and dramatically thrilling.

  8. Seasons 1&2 were nice, but Children of Earth just blew my mind.
