The Mentalist - Season 4 - Did Patrick Jane Really Kill Red John?

Thanks to cckia27 and Alejandra, the forum The Mentalist: Foro en Español for sending us this.

It was perhaps last season's boldest finale. After three seasons, The Mentalist's Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) finally came face-to-face with the man he believed to be Red John (guest-star Bradley Whitford), the serial killer who killed Jane's wife and daughter. The two had a long, intense conversation as Jane tried to confirm that he was indeed in the presence of his nemesis. Once he did just that, Jane took his vengeance, shooting the man in broad daylight and surrendering himself to the authorities that came charging in.

Spoiler alert: Simon Baker talks about The Mentalist's shocking season finale

But did he really kill Red John? And if so, what does that mean for both Jane's future (is he going to jail?) and the show's long-term goals? TVGuide.com chatted with creator and executive producer Bruno Heller to get the answers

  3. Heller always talks much and says nothing.

  4. The way the interview ended, it sounds like Bradley Whitford (who I've been in love with since West Wing!) probably wasn't Red John, IMO. I'm wondering if they'll do something like Bones did with Gormagon: there was always a Master _and_ an Apprentice. Since RJ had the whole 'network' thing going... If nothing else there'll be clean-up to do.

This is looking like it will be so awesome!

  5. That had better have been Red John.  The best way out of this would be for Red John to be dead, yet his disciples (read: cult) continue his work, thus tormenting Jane.  They can call them "Friends of John."

  6. I liked that interview. He just gives the little push to want me to watch without blurting out any spoilers.

  7. I have to say I'll feel very cheated if it turns out he wasn't Red John...

  8. Whether he was Red John or not, either way I'm very much looking forward to the new season. I like articles like this, because it's just enough to tease you and push you on edge, making you eager to watch the premiere. If they reveal too much, the suspense will just dissipate.

Temporary friends or a deeper bond? I wonder if some of them will have a change of heart. I hope it won't be Lisbon... Wooo Jisbon tension.

Also wondering how they'll write Grace in the premiere, having lost her fiancé the way she did.

    Come on Sept. 22nd.

  9. Oh, I'd forgotten about Grace with all the RJ stuff! Thanks for reminding me! So can't wait...
