While I agree that what Meredith did was unethical, she did it for selfless reasons. Alex telling on her was for selfish reasons. I think that's what everyone's so upset about; I mean, Alex had finally turned himself around by bringing in the sick African children, only to turn around and betray who is arguably his best friend.
That is, to say the least, an overly simplistic explanation for Alex's decision. He was extremely conflicted about the situation Meredith put him in and pissed about the pressure she constantly piled on him about it.
In the end Alex made the mistake of making a (very important) decision under the influence of a substantial quantity of alcohol. Despite that fact and although it was very unpopular to do so, it was probably the right decision. Meredith put the entire hospital at risk, which in turn jeopardized the jobs of all her friends. Let's not downplay her role in this.
How many entertainment websites have to post that Vampire Diaries info about the new Becky character before it ceases to be "scoop" or "buzz?" Get it together, TV Guide.
The reasons for Meredith;s actions are irrelevant. It fundamentally broke the rules and put her career and her colleagues' careers at risk. Alex gave her a chance to fess up to it and she didn't. He did the right thing albeit in completely the wrong way and with the wrong motivation. Making more of this on the show would just illustrate a lack of creativity for stories.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I don't get why suddenly everyone is turning against Alex on GA. Maybe I'm biased because he's my favorite character. What Meredith did was wrong.

ReplyDeleteA female gladiator! I'm glad that even though Spartacus broke out, we'd still see the arena games.

ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you! Meredith did something very wrong and now Alex is persona non grata? Nonsense.
