The final major new role on HBO’s Game of Thrones has been filled: Irish actor Liam Cunningham has landed the part of Davos for the show’s second season.
Cunningham has appeared in many productions over the years, including Starz’ now defunct Camelot, the recent Clash of the Titans remake and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
*****SPOILER WARNING*****
The paragraph after the jump has Davos' back story and minor details about him from Book 2: A Clash of Kings.

Awesome actor. One of the names most brandied about in recent weeks for the role and I am excited!
ReplyDeleteNot only do we have our Davos, but we do not have to deal with Joseph Fiennes! WHEW!
I can't wait for the new season
ReplyDeleteIn another not-so-coincidental connection..... Liam worked with Carice van Houten on Black Butterflies this year.
ReplyDeleteSo he was Colfur in Camelot and played Agravain, a Knight of The Round Table in First Knight with Gere and Connery.

I agree. I´m so happy that Fiennes didn´t get a part.
ReplyDeleteI´m looking forward to the casting of Jaquen.
Can´t wait for the next season!!!! I´m reading book 4 now. It´s going a little slower than the first three, but I´m still loving it.
BEST! CASTING NEWS! EVER!!!
ReplyDeleteYa I think universally Book 4 takes more time to get into with so many new POVs, and of course missing many of the fan favorites.
ReplyDeleteI'm holding out hope that Tobias Menzies is Jaquen... Ever since I pictured him in the role it just felt right to me. I doubt he will be though and whoever they cast will fit surprisingly well next year and likely erase any thoughts of Tobias from my mind. Nina Gold and the casting team is just that good!
So I'm reading between the lines here... um.... hmmmm... you are excited? XD
ReplyDeleteI like Liam too, he reminds me of cross between Jason Isaacs and Gary Sinise. Don't ask me why.... dunno.
i dont him or anything he does :(
ReplyDeleteHe is also in the currently running (in the US) show Outcasts on BBC America. If you wish to see his acting, the show is on Saturdays. He is one of the main characters, so he is in a lot of scenes.
ReplyDeleteThe show is not so great, but honestly his performance was the only thing that kept me watching. He was great!
ReplyDeleteI have not read the books but I'm sure Cunningham will do great! I've liked him in every other project I've seen him in.
ReplyDeleteI just wish season 2 would start already
Yes, yes... I'm so sorry I wasn't too clear. ;D
ReplyDeletePermitt me to rectify my mistake:
BEST!!!!! CASTING NEWS!!!!! EVER!!!!
Better? ;P
