Dan Harmon talked to Vulture about the new season of Emmy-snubbed, low-rated Community, premiering in exactly 2 months on Thursday, September 22nd at 8pm on NBC. The shooting of season 3 will start next Monday, and Dan Harmon & his talented crew have already written the first 6 episodes. In a nutshell, here's what he has to say about them :
- Senor Chang will be in a position of authority again, and his journey towards power will start as soon as episode 3.01.
- After spanish and anthropology, the next season will feature biology (the season premiere is entitled Biology 101).
- Jim Rash (Dean Pelton) will be included in the opening credits.
- The vice-dean of Greendale's air conditioning repair annex will be a recurring character in season 3.
- One of the early episodes of season 3 will have multiple timelines, we'll see the impact and implications of what a character does or doesn't do in different realities.
- The Halloween episode will be a Treehouse of Horror-like episode, with 2 or 3 independant stories in the episode, it will be a small anthology in which anything is possible and that will have no lasting effect on the characters after this episode.
- Dan Harmon acknowledges that the detractors of Community (those fools) say the show has too much themed episodes, making it harder to get hooked for new viewers, and he will Chang that : indeed, he compares season 3 to a necklace filled with beads, instead of season 2 which didn't have a string strong enough to hold them together. The show's going to be a little more serialized, Harmon even planned some storylines throughout the season (something he didn't do in the previous seasons).

ReplyDeleteBoo. They Should do MORE themed episodes! Other than that, sounds great.
Interesting. I think Community does best in themed episodes but this show is one of the few on TV that regularly makes me laugh so I'll be following.
ReplyDeleteThere is literally nothing about this I don't love.
ReplyDeleteI was excited about season 3 before I read this. Now I'm even more excited.
ReplyDeleteGlad Jim Rash will be included in the opening credits, the Dean is one of my favourite characters.
YAY for Jim Rash's inclusion in the credits!!!!!
