In a statement provided to me exclusively, the network and production studio say, "Due to his scheduling conflicts, Robert Wagner will need to step away from his duties as Charlie on Charlie's Angels."
Sad, as RJ, as the 81-year-old actor is known, had expressed to me as recently as May how well his voice recording had gone and how excited he was to follow in the footsteps of his late pal John Forsythe, who played the character in the 1976-81 series and two feature films.

that is sad :(
ReplyDeleteThere goes my reason for watching this show. For a chance to even just hear Robert Wagner every week, I'd've been a loyal viewer, but now? Goodbye, Angels. You'll have to get by without this viewer.
ReplyDeleteRun! Run while fast and don't look back at the cesspit behind you!
ReplyDeleteYou got out just in time Mr. Wagner!
Hopefully he'll be popping up again on NCIS as Tony DiNozzo Sr. In person is so much better than a voice.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. And he totally does the role great on NCIS. My two favorite mains on the show are Gibbs and "Junior", while Senior DiNozzo is one of my favorite guest-stars :)
