Me too, don't think this is the kind of show could go on forever, better end it on a high-note. And with Gilligan already hinting that s5 could be the last at various occasions, I think it's very likely.
Yeah, it really seems that way. It's just that that was so much talk that AMC will hurt Breaking Bad and Mad Men with the longer than usual hiatuses that it surprised me that it's not just a strong rating, but their biggest ever -- and it's not even close. But definitely well deserved and like you said, the shows have built such a strong reputation that people are willing to wait them to return.
I hope so too, this show can't run forever and it's so good that it deserves to end when Gilligan wants it to.
By the way: Does anyone know how long his contracts runs? I remember reading somewhere that they'll need to negotiate again after season 4 and if the ratings stay anywhere this good, I wouldn't be surprised if AMC says they want more than one more season.
In Breaking Bad case, the longer wait was actually a good thing. After all the buzz that Season 3 and its last episodes generated on the dedicated press, a lot of people used these 13 months to catch-up on the show, and now, this is the result!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Good for them!
ReplyDeleteNice, the show deserves all the success it can get! So the long wait didn't hurt them at all (good sign for Mad Men next year).
ReplyDeleteWell deserved, the premiere blew. my. mind!
ReplyDeleteThese shows have built up such a good reputation that I think there hardly is anything that could hurt them at this point.
ReplyDeleteI still hope S5 will be the last season, though.
