True Blood - Ratings News - 28th June 2011

The love for hot vampires is stronger than ever: The fourth season premiere of True Blood Sunday matched its series high performance of 5.4 million viewers. It also improved upon its season 3 debut by 6%.

The rebroadcast at 11 p.m. added an additional one million viewers for a combined 6.4 million viewers on Sunday. Viewership levels will no doubt build over the next few episodes, especially since fans expect Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) and Sookie (Anna Paquin) to hook up in the shower this season.

  1. Great news, as someone who hasn't read the books I loved the premiere and I'm looking forward to the next episodes.

  2. Me too, I really enjoyed the episode and I liked how they moved the timeline forward to allow for all these big changes.

  3. You're in for some fun times this season then!!

Not that reading the books matters too much with True Blood since more than half of every season is Alan Ball and Not Charlaine Harris.

  4. They really need to move it forward too! I mean the first 3 seasons were something like 3 or 4 months "real time" combined!

  5. I didn't even realise that until it was mentioned in an interview with Alan Ball the other day. Wow it's been a bad few months for the residents of Bon Temps! It worked well though, skipping forward, because it would've taken a long time to establish these plotlines (Bill, Jason etc) without the jump. I'm really excited to see what'll happen next. And what happened to Sophie-Anne?

  6.  Especially S2-S3, where S3 literally takes place where S2 ended.

  7. Ya I like how they played it too. End of last year they show Andy staring at the bottle of V thinking of healing his arm, Jason wanting to be a cop for real etc... Then cut to this year and Andy no longer just stares at V and Jason is a full on deputy.

You find out what happened to Sophie-Anne in episode two :)

  8. Yeah, and it means they can keep it more realistic, because Jason would've taken a while to get to that job position, and Tara with her new life etc. I like that they didn't feel the need to drag it all out.

That's good to know, any chance you can give me a clue? :)

  9. Well, think Game of Thrones tagline.

I'm sure you guessed the outcome, but I won't tell you the method or circumstances. More fun to see it for yourself... or it was for me. :)

  10. This is good news. :D
I don't have HBO but just knowing that their shows are generally becoming more successfully recently has me hopeful for scripted tv in general.

  11. Oh please don't tell me that she gets killed off, I really like her character! Sunday needs to hurry up already.

  12. Haven't read the books too and don't plan to do so, because honestly it doesn't exactly sound like something I'd like to read.
The premiere was okay, but didn't really impress me, whereas 4x02 was a lot better, something I really needed after the disappointing s3 finale.

  13. Maybe this will lead to an early season 5 pick-up. I hate it when networks make us wait and wait for renewal news, even when ratings are good.

  14. I guess the early access via HBO Go didn't hurt ratings at all.  Now lets see if the crazy-ass premiere episode keeps people tuning in or deciding to tune out.

  15. I really liked the season premiere! And I can`t wait to see how Godric will fit in this season ;)

  16. I agree, I haven't read them because I think I won't like them. I thought the premiere was pretty good, but maybe because I already saw the opening minutes with the Faeries on here, and I didn't like that too much, but the rest of the episode was a lot better IMO, better than I expected after those opening minutes.

I'm not from America so I'm not eligible for HBO go, so no episode two for me :(

  17. I'm from Austria, so no HBO Go for me too...

  18. 3.0 in 18-49s I think... It's not a record for the show, but really impressive for a cable show...

  19.  Haha I see. Maybe I'll check it out in some other way then too.

  20. Hopefully it will be a few episodes before we visit Faerieland again... if we need to visit it again at all!

  21. I can't hate on Faerieland too much.  It was way over-the-top stupid but the entire sequence made me laugh my butt off, although I'm sure that wasn't their intention.  I always feel if you're going to do something that dumb, don't hold back.  Alan Ball and his team certainly didn't.

  22. True.
I groaned more than laughed, but I did laugh I guess....

  23. I only get to watch it on TV when Dish lets HBO be free, so that's why I watched it on TV.

  24. i kinda have a theory on Godrics return

    ReplyDelete
  25. Flashbacks come to mind , but I hope he would come back somehow ;) ... what`s your theory ?

    ReplyDelete
  26. it's above last years debut which had a 2.9 A18-49 and it's just below the record by 0.2 A18-49 so its very impressive

  27. my theory is that his spirit is channelled by Marnie to haunt eric
