BAY QUESTIONS HER BIOLOGICAL FATHER’S IDENTITY, IN AN ALL NEW EPISODE
OF “SWITCHED AT BIRTH, MONDAY, JUNE 20th AT 9:00 ET/PT ON ABC FAMILY

Academy Award® Winner Marlee Matlin Guest Stars in Recurring Role

Burbank, CA (June 15, 2011) – As Bay continues to see Daphne’s relationship with her family blossom, Bay wonders about her biological father. It is soon discovered, however, that the story behind the man she’s inquiring about is more complicated than she could have imagined, on “Switched at Birth” on ABC Family, Monday, June 20 at 9:00PM ET/PT.

In “Portrait of My Father,” now that Regina and Daphne have completely moved into the Kennish’s home, many of Kathryn’s friends and neighbors have begun asking questions. Kathryn decides it’s best to keep their situation a secret and devises a lie, in an effort to protect Bay, who quickly becomes victim to town gossip. Bay asks Daphne more about her biological father, but is shut down, leaving her more determined to further investigate. Meanwhile, John gets involved in Daphne’s basketball games, and it’s there that he meets Melody (Marlee Matlin), Regina’s best friend and Emmet’s mother, who also happens to be the school counselor and fill-in coach at Daphne’s school.

Marlee Matlin will appear as a guest star throughout several episodes.

“Switched at Birth” is executive-produced by Lizzy Weiss (“Blue Crush”), Paul Stupin (“Make It or Break It”) and John Ziffren (“Melissa & Joey,” “Make It or Break It”). The series also stars newcomer Katie Leclerc as Daphne Vasquez; Vanessa Marano (“Gilmore Girls”) as Bay Kennish; Constance Marie (“George Lopez”) as Regina Vasquez; D.W. Moffett (“Friday Night Lights”) as John Kennish; Lea Thompson (“Back to the Future,” “Caroline in the City”) as Kathryn Kennish; Lucas Grabeel (“High School Musical”) as Toby Kennish; and newcomer Sean Berdy as Emmett.
