Hey Guys,
Welcome to the second round of the competition! 64 shows have become 32, the competition beginning to get serious already, some big shows already gone and some more certain to depart before the final 16 places are decided.
In the final day of round one there were victories for Nikita, How I Met Your Mother, Firefly and Battlestar Galactica, all of which had relatively comfortable passages into the second stage. The Firefly-Battlestar clash will surely create sparks as the second round draws to a close.
Today at the start of the second round we have a mega-match-up a Castle takes on Chuck as well as an intriguing battle between Flashforward and The X-Files... The results of todays polls are sure to be interesting and a good indicator of whether any of these shows have a chance to reach the final few rounds!
The rules for, for anyone new to the competition are very simple. There will be new sets of shows against each other every day in a new set of polls... simply vote for your favourite and the show with the most votes will win that days poll and head into the next round.
Don't forget to spread the word, and tweet out the competition to friends as well as facebook liking the post...
Also if you are taking part in the prediction competition, don't forget to follow your scores HERE We already have no perfect brackets left in the competition, Round 1 so far has been ruthless! Sergey Sevostianov has maintained his lead of two points, standing tall at the top with 30 points.

ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Castle, and I was a big fan of Chuck once, seasons 1 and 2 were amazing and even if seasons 3 and 4 weren't nearly as good, I still like the show, so my vote went for Chuck.
I haven't seen The X-Files yet, but even I know it would be a travesty if The X-Files loses against FlashForward (FF shouldn't even be in the competition as far as I'm concerned). In round 1 there may have been some shows that would have gone much further in the competition if only they were more popular, but having Mulder & Scully losing against Joseph Fiennes' frozen eyebrows would definitely be the biggest shock of all.

Voted Chuck and X-Files, but I fully expect Castle to win (I chose Castle in the bracket). I was completely surprised to see Flashforward bear Scrubs, as I had Scrubs winning this round so... My bad lol.

ReplyDeleteI've seen 2 seasons and 1 episode of Castle and while it was enjoyable I don't quite get why it's so popular. I voted for Chuck, which I've seen all four seasons of.

ReplyDeleteXF has been my very fave show since 1994. Castle as my fave for currently running shows. I wonder if it has something to do with, that Rob Bowman has a hand in both?
I just HAD to vote for flashforward. I loved the show and I'm still sad it got cancelled. That reminds me ... I meant to get the DVDs from the DVD rental store and watch the whole season again.

why? =) People can vote for whatever they want. I for one really liked FF, but never really watched X-Files 'cause I didn't like the few episodes I saw and never really got into it ... =)

Castle is the best show on TV at this moment can you just look at the finale of season 3 only and you can see the drama! XFiles was my favorite for the time period there were so many Mulderisms!

ReplyDeleteI've seen a few episodes of Castle and the first 2 seasons of Chuck. They are both decent but not appointment TV for me. I'm going with Chuck because it started off with a good premise and I remember it better.

Ha! I think you are safe on that one. If the X-Files gets even close to losing this one, I will be the one calling conspiracy this time. The X-Files has a lot of friends on this site because most of the shows people like here owe something to its success.
ReplyDeleteI think things are a bit skewed this year because instead of voting the way they actually feel people are voting with their bracket. I understand voting with your bracket when you don't know either show but I don't remember people letting their bracket sway their vote about shows they do have an opinion on last year. It's different and possibly a self-fulfilling prophecy if everyone just votes their bracket.

ReplyDeleteAlthough I think a lot of people did create their brackets using their own preferences as to which shows they enjoy, so in that respect it's not quite as skewed.
ReplyDeleteI know you always vote with your heart, but man, you and your bracket have only agreed once? That's tough! Tell me that once was Veronica Mars or Supernatural. My head and heart have at least agreed 5 times so far. :-) Apparently I don't watch popular TV.
ReplyDeleteCastle's the better show from a quality standpoint (and I still enjoy watching it), but Chuck's high points and over-the-top characters have been way more entertaining to me overall so I voted for it. I haven't seen X-Files, and FlashForward (though not nearly as bad as most seem to make it out) just wasn't good enough for me to vote for it over a show I've never seen before.

ReplyDeleteI look at bracket competitions like this as contests to predict everyone else's bracket more than who i want to win personally. Just like doing a final Four bracket for the NCAA basketball tournament. I don't pick my favorites, I pick who I think will win each game or round.
ReplyDeleteWith individual polls I usually vote for who I personally like or who I think deserves to win.
I think there's probs a few, around 10-20 people maybe but not a huge amount. You always get a few people not taking it seriously :P
ReplyDeleteDon't forget only 289 people signed up for the prediction competition, and I reckon around 50-60% of those will vote every day of the competition...

ReplyDeleteIt was difficult as all four are good shows. Castle and X-Files were my votes. I steadily watch any shows except Supernatural, but when I'm in the mood, II'd catch one of these.
ReplyDeleteCastle and the X-Files definitely! I am still bitter about Friends not beating out Angel (if tv critics were voting, Friends totally would have kicked butt), but I will have to suck it up and hope these other great shows prevail!!!!

ReplyDeleteHa! In all honesty, the only reason I remember is because I wrote it down. There have been a couple times when I thought I picked one show but it ended up I picked the other.
ReplyDeleteBelieve me, it gets much much tougher. When you have to choose between two shows you have been defending from the start, it gets painful to vote. For me it starts tomorrow. It's Burn Notice vs. Supernatural tomorrow and that's just heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteHa! My guess is that if TV critics were voting, most of these shows would not even be in the running. That includes Friends. However, I Love Lucy would be getting some mad props.

ReplyDeleteI've always wondered why there were not more Chuck fans on SPTV when they and Fringe practically run TVBtN. I guess they haven't heard about this contest yet because they are some of Supernatural's hardest competition in most on-line polls. Then again so is Castle though.
