Game of Thrones - Mark Addy on what's to come

Mark Addy has opened up about his departure from Game of Thrones. Addy, who plays King Robert Baratheon on the HBO series, spoke to Access Hollywood about what direction fans can expect for the show to take now that his character has died.

"Up to this point, the scene is really just being set, and you're getting to know who's who and what the relationship is with the other character and where they stand in the order of things," said Addy. "But once that throne becomes vacant, things start to crack along. The fight for power hasn't even started yet."

The 47-year-old's character was killed in the most recent Game of Thrones episode after being impaled by a boar while on a hunting trip.

The Full Monty and Still Standing actor played his last scene opposite actor Sean Bean, who portrays Baratheon's best friend Lord Eddard Stark on the show.

In real life, the two actors are good friends, something which Addy says helped to make the relationship between the two characters seem more real.

"We got on really well and that was a huge help playing those characters, being with somebody you know and trust and admire, and they feel the same way," he explained. "So you can just go ahead and play the scenes."
