IF you think of each chapter in the book as a handful of scenes... a third of those scenes do not make it into the series, a third make it in an edited form, and a third make it in completely or are actually expended from the book.
There is so much more detail in the books and you get to know the characters much better via their inner dialogs. I think reading the books will increase your enjoyment of the series. It does for me.
However, if you are the type that notices every change from a comic book or book to the screen and gets annoyed, you may want to avoid the books until after each season has aired.
I expected more of a miss mash of armor to like in the books. I guess when you compare it to Jaime or Tywin Lannister's ornate armor it is pathetic, but not as quirky as I pictured.
And I may have the Tyrion pic for my collage I need so no photochop giant head anymore! Ha! I'm still hoping for a more "fun" pic of Tyrion smiling, drinking, or tossing money around, but I will settle on this if nothing better arises.
I dunno - they giant head is definitely more in line with his self depreciating description of himself. That being said, I look forward to the new chop :)
Wow ... brain malfunction. It looks like a DVD cover, but it also looks like your chop with the new Tyrion included. You've either got some mad shop skills or are psychic. That looks so great!!
Ha! Thanks! You aren't malfunctioning it's a DVD cover. I was making the group shot for that when I wrote the opinion/review and wasn't quite happy with the cover yet so I did the wallpaper real quick. Now I was actually happy with my 10th version of the DVD cover sooo...shared that instead.Depending on who you ask you may hear I'm psychotic.. wait- psychic? Oh. Just too much time on photoshop (well the cheaper Paintshop Pro technically) and and the compulsion to do and redo until I am pleased. Then probably redo again and repeat as needed. Ha!
And hey - there ain't a thing wrong with paint shop pro - I feel like I grew up with that program back in the day - it's been around longer than my kids :)
Ya I agree about PSP. I used both and PSP was just more intuitive for me even if not the industry standard. Taught myself to edit photos and learned as I went... so that was important...

Who has read the book for sure will know that this episode is gonna be HUGE.
ReplyDeleteI haven't, but I expected something huge anyway.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be a tough episode.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like every episode it just gets more crazy and big! Amazing series.
ReplyDeleteto those of you who have read the books....... is there a lot of scenes missing? How do they compare?
ReplyDeleteI read the True Blood books and watch the series. I was wondering if I should start reading Game og Thrones books.

Found this AWESOME photo of Tyrion preparing for battle!
ReplyDeleteThanks...I think i´ll give it a try. Is book 1 = season 1?
ReplyDeleteI love getting all the details. :-)
It's actually better than I anticipated - I though the armor would be less matched although you can see he has 2 different shoulder plates.
ReplyDeleteNext week is going to rawk!!
Yes - it appears Book 1 = season 1 = have fun with those :)
