Hey Guys,
We're recording a STV Podcast tomorrow, so I thought a good topic would be Peter Bishop and how will he return next season.
I've made a little poll for some of the more popular/imaginative theories I've heard for you to vote in, but also write below any ideas you have and it may get a shoutout in the next STV Podcast!

I voted for the 'Observer' theory, just for the sheer craziness of it all :P
ReplyDeleteI went with Walter will find a way to bring back his son
ReplyDeleteI voted for the future characters and especially Walter, because we know that we will see more of the future and what? Fut-Walter doesn't want to know where his son is? But if Peter doesn't exist then how the world is saved? I think that, that future will remain as it is and maybe that will be a Third universe or something and next season will have Time-Univesre crossovers ?! ( Hope !)
ReplyDeletei voted for Olivia. She does have his baby after all...
ReplyDeleteI go either
ReplyDeleteOlivia will save his existence
or The characters in the future discover they need to find Peter in the past.
My favs at the moment are Olivia having Deja Vu's and Alt!Peter showing up from somewhere...
ReplyDeleteI went with Olivia. She's a Cortexiphan kid who has powers involving perception. We know Peter did exist, as the Observers proved by speaking about him, and things are now, as a consequence, altered. Therefore it seems fair to think that her perception of reality might be most promising. And yet, because this is the thing that seems most sensible to me, on that fact alone, it's probably completely and utterly wrong. Other than that, it would still be poetic for Walter to save his son. Again.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with that is Peter Never existed to begin with, meaning Olivia can't be pregnant with his baby.
ReplyDeleteI love the Observer theory.
ReplyDeleteIt would be Awesome, since we don't know where they came from...I always thought that maybe Walter created them.
ReplyDeleteI'm going with Olivia being the "fail-safe." Third season's Astral projecting, head-Peter will make a lot more sense, I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteI went with Peter saving his own existence. It would be great if Season 4 was Josh's season, much like how Anna had a lot to play with in season 3. Besides, Olivia saved herself from the alternate universe so Peter should have a chance to stand up for himself in a parallel fashion.
ReplyDeleteLOL so many... XD I'll go with He will be in an Alternate Reality ... XD
ReplyDeleteThe idea I had was that Peter is 'there' but not physically there. So his soul/form/whatever is like a ghost and he's trying to communicate with everyone there but he can't because they can't see him. Figure eventually Olivia with her powers will catch glimpses of him and wonder until they bring him back to reality.
ReplyDeleteBut Olivia didn't save herself. Head-Peter helped her remember who she was ;)
ReplyDeleteI'd quite like Nina to wonder how she lost her arm; that sounds funny.
ReplyDeleteBut my favourite is him coming back as an Observer. I've been loving the idea since I read something on here a few weeks ago about Peter coming back "but we're not sure if his eyebrows will be with him..." or something to that effect.
I don't know. I don't think it will be any of these.
ReplyDeletei voted for olivia saving his existence, but i like the idea of bell waiting for him somewhere... and it kind of relates to my original thought which is that olivia's subconcious will play an essential role in pulling peter into the new timeline. we all know that olivia's is quite a tricky mind! when she shared conciousness with john scott she was able to actually "be" with him even though walter said it was impossible for them to interact because she was supposed to just be witnessing scott's memories. and then there's projection peter... hers is a mind that works like no other, even more when we consider her "ability". and for all we know william bell never left her subconcious in 3x19. so he may very well be dormant inside her. i'm not suggesting a bellivia comeback (it would be repetitive), but maybe william bell has a way of making olivia aware of peter's existence somehow. kind of like what projection peter did when she was over there. and with that catalyst and walter's isolation tank, she's able to "meet" with peter somewhere and dragg him to the new timeline.
ReplyDeletei can't wait for them to start filming, i need some spoilers!!!!!!!!
I think it will be like the dark tower (the waste lands) with peter stuck in some kind of limbo
ReplyDeleteI wish, but that won't happen. The producers already admitted on twitter, before S3 ended, that they are not interested in exploring Peter's past and that S4 won't focus on him.
ReplyDeleteI voted for the option I like the most, but I know for sure it won't happen. I'd like it if he saved his own existence, but I know the writers would never let that happen. They would never dream of granting Peter the same respect they did to Olivia by not needing him and letting her save herself. Realistically and unfortunately, I expect Olivia to start having visions of him and end up saving him.
ReplyDeleteObserver theory is awesome :)
ReplyDeleteHe will have to save his own existence. *and* He will be in an Alternate Reality.
ReplyDeleteThey may not want to explore the past from after he left his mother and before he met Olivia, but they have alluded that there is something more to Peter than just being a drifting, nomadic con-man. Now we may get a true origin story that will be even more shocking than the revelation that he came from the other universe.
ReplyDeleteThe producers said that there is a lot more story to tell for both Peter and Olivia. I've come to the conclusion that we just don't get one without the other. They are two magnetic forces, pulled together.
If it hadn't been for Henry, and especially alt-Broyles, Olivia would have been meaty bits. She didn't completely save herself. I don't think her visions of Peter were the sole creation of her mind either. Guess we'll see!
ReplyDeleteI voted the same, for the exact same reason. The significance of people who "never-existed" becoming observers says a lot about the observers... nice one.
ReplyDeleteWhich Olivia?!! Which Walter?!!
ReplyDeleteWhich Nina?? - I like the idea of her having a WTF moment about her arm....
My personal theory is that Alt-Astrid will notice the improbability of the current situation and 'deduce' that there should be a somebody else, then, with our Astrid, will quietly work something out.
(SO want more Astrid eps!!)
well... he sacrificed his whole existance to save the future where Olivia died (and the world was crumbling) Soo... It should be that she realizes that something big "She loves him" remember... .is missing and ends up figuring it out and saves him. Like she thought peter should have known to save her at the beginning of s3.
ReplyDeleteCan't WAIT!
Well , I'm voting for He will be in an Alternate Reality , if not then Olivia will save his existence
ReplyDeleteThere is a third dimension - there are now three - over there, over there there and here!
ReplyDeleteUgh, not as an Observer. Peter saving himself would be awesome, Walter saving him would be poetic, Olivia saving him again would be wonderful.... can I have all three, please? However they do it, though, please Bad Robot do it fast, I am not interested in what they would be like without having had Peter in their lives beyond one or two episodes at most. Last season's first half with Peter in only half the eps was disappointing. I like Our Three together.
ReplyDeleteWow! These are all good plot lines. One of them might come true.
ReplyDeleteI voted for the last one >> He will be present as if nothing ever happened...
Alrighty here's my theory. I'll try to keep it in a nutshell:
ReplyDeleteFact 1: 2011 Peter's consciousness was "Desmonded" to the currently in play future.
Fact 2: His 2011 consciousness faded fast in the finale and he was 2026 peter with his 2011 consciousness playing piggy-back and observing the future from the backseat.
With that said:
I believe that at the precise moment that Peter apparently dissolved from existence he was sent back to the tainted future to close the loop and take Walter's Machine back far enough in time to set up this whole entire do-over. I believe season 4 will focus on the "New" Peterless timelines in 2011. I also believe it will Focus on the tainted 2026 and the "Sending of the Machine" back in time, which I assume will be done by Walter, and the (2011) Peter in the future.
So to Nutshell it down, 2011 Peter was lost in spacetime when he split the universes, but to his surprise he will wake back up in the bad 2026 and know that he and Walter will have to become the first people, and thus take his place in that situation. The kicker here I believe is that Peter and or Walter will have something to do with the creation of or better yet, the existence of The Observers. Not saying they made them, just saying they found them and somehow convinced them to help WAAAAAAAAAAYYYY back in the past.
But the point is, if Peter never existed, the other universe would never have been destroyed, Nina would never have lost her arm, Olivia would never have been found when she ran away and would never have had help with her stepfather, Walter would never have had a son. So how can they miss something they never had in the first place? How will they realize that there is someone missing in their lives, while in truth, in this life everything is complete? And maybe, with Peter non-existent, maybe they have never even met.
ReplyDeleteSee, the problem is I don't know how far they're gonna go with Peter not existing. That said, I believe in Olivia's subconscious and I hope she will have something to do with Peters saving
I didn't mean split the universes I meant joined the universes in case anyone was wondering.
ReplyDeleteThe future Scooby gang goes to look for him. This show is getting about as science-fictiony as anything I've ever seen.
ReplyDeleteActually the better question is : since when Walter and Bell discover the other side ? since when Walter invented the window to see the other side ?
ReplyDeleteAll of that has nothing to do with Peter's existence , Bell created the trails in 1981 , Walter stole Peter in 1985 , so Walter and Bell were preparing the child for up coming war between universes with out the existence of Peter .
Olivia was abused from her stepdad without the existence of Peter , so many facts were there without the existence of Peter .
I have my own theory...but of the choices given...i chose 'Olivia will save his existence' Over the past 3 seasons we have come to learn that Olivia's memory is important in the overall storyarc of Fringe. If that is the case....then now it will be of even more importance to our Fringe team. She may not 'save' Peter...as i really think he is somewhere else....but when it really matters Olivia will remember him! Memory is important on Fringe!
ReplyDeleteIf Peter never exsisted, then......how can anyone try to find him? He doesn't exsist. He is niether a thought nor memory. Because of this, I think the theories posted above have no baring. I'm happy I'm not writing such a complex season, but also jealous that I'm not.
ReplyDeleteIf Peter never existed Nina wouldn't have lost her arm..
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of Peter becoming an observer. They have something strange and they know everything about past and future.I think Peter can be one of them.
ReplyDeleteYes, but when Peter would never have existed (alright, I'm not English nor American so the grammar starts to get a little confusing here) Walter would never have had a reason to cross over to the other side so early. They would have, eventually, but maybe after more research into the consequences.
ReplyDeleteAbout Olivia; yes, of course she would have been abused just as well. But when she ran away during the diazepam (?) trials, Peter was the one who knew where to look. Who knows what would have happened if it had taken longer to find her.
Besides, wasn't it with Peters help that they found out that her stepfather was abusing her in the first place? (My mind is a little foggy on the details, sorry)
And both of Peters mothers will still live.. Who knows what would have happened to Walter if he hadn't been a father? Maybe in this new reality he is a brilliant inventor and scientist, who has never been locked up.
Anyway, there are so many things that have to be considered in this new story line. That's why I'm curious as to see how far they will go with it.
I couldn't fully vote because I think multiple things could happen simulatamoisly...
ReplyDeleteMy biggest idea aside from Observer/John Mosley-Desmond Time traveling, is the possibility of an astral projected Peter, who shows up to help out (like in the Plateau and astral projection was also something they chose to show us in the finale))...with that being said -"saving his own existence" might then co-inside with that, as the new time line characters discover the truth that their time line has been altered...
Another thought occurs to me that a physical Peter exists just as anyone would, but (like before) the truth about whom he really is and where he comes from is unknown to all characters...(ex: he's an orphan and neither Walter knew that he ever existed in the conceived sense).....and perhaps is aligned with [time traveling?] terrorists (Peter has a criminal past and the End of Dayers point out that in the original timeline they were the problem, not two universes, thus paralleling via course correction ZFT as David Robert tries to walk through a door to another universe...(or alternate reality))
Or if the time line has been changed to mirror what was once the original timeline, that would also then parallel the possible 2026 that we saw, then maybe the truth is that Peter was something that was "created" by Walter and Co. (like a clone, andriod, robot, or cylon) and will get created [again] in the new 2011+ timeline.
