If anyone is interested, here's what this video says about XIII :
Edouard de Vesinne (executive producer) says there was more than a year between the moment they decided they wanted to make a show and the moment they found the right angle, the right vantage point to tell a story. The tipping point of this reflexion was whether to start all over (remake the story told in the miniseries at the beginning of the series) or start the series right after the events shown on the miniseries. And other questions came up : what are they going to talk about given the miniseries lets us know that Wally Sheridan is at the head of the conspiracy.
Then Denis McGrath speaks.
Aisha Tayler (Jones) says (in french!) that before she got the part, she had not read the comic-books but when she was chosen she started reading XIII - she read the first 16 comic-books. Then she realizes it would be better to speak loud and clear in the microphone. She says the character the writers created is inspired by the comic-books but that's not an exact copy though, there are some differences.
Then Denis McGrath speaks again.
Virgine Ledoyen (Irina) says Canal+ pushed them into assuming all the codes from the thriller genre, because otherwise the viewerts cannot get involved, and neither can the actors, in fact. And yet they're on a fine line, the characters are archetypes of this genre, that's one thing, but they can't become stereotypes, that's what they're trying to avoid.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
