30 Rock - To End Next Season?

6 Apr 2011

"I will tell you one thing," he said. "And that is our show next year is our last year of the show." Though Baldwin has made no secret of the fact that he plans to leave 30 Rock in 2012, this was the first time we've heard that the show itself would close up shop, too. But Baldwin says it's a done deal that Fey will be leaving. "Our contracts are expired [in 2012], and Tina is gonna have a big career directing films and writing. She's going to be the next Elaine May. She'll be great." Tina Fey's reps declined to comment.

  1. I really like 30 Rock, but it would be okay with me if it ends on a high note instead of dragging along, out of steam, like so many shows have done. 30 Rock has been entertaining, and I say thank you, go in peace!

  2. Noooooooooooo (endless "no").

If Alec Baldwin (and Tina Fey) are leaving, there's no way the show can go on, unlike The Office with Steve Carrell for instance.

So I'm gonna try to be positive and think that sure, Baldwin's contract may be ending in 2012, but it can get extended for a bigger pile of money, which I hope he'll take.

It would be a waste to see 30 Rock go off the air in 13 months. I'm not tired of the show at all, in fact I think it is in its prime this year. The 5th season is the funniest of the show imo (at least it's funnier than seasons 3 or 4).

  3. I agree. The newest season has been an improvement over last year, keep if up one more season and go out when the show's still good. I hope it ends next year.

  4. "That's the only show on NBC which is critically acclaimed (and not just a little)"

I'd say Community and Parks & Recreation have received more praise from TV critics in recent years, but as far as Awards go, yeah, it's by far the most successful NBC show of the last few years.

  5. Meh, just bring in Billy Baldwin and train an unfocused camera on him.

    (Bossypants FTW!)

  6. Yeah that's what I meant, I should have been more specific.

  7. I'm strangely ok with this. Netflixing 30 Rock is one of my favorite things to do when I have down time, and it only gets better with every repeat viewing. I have faith that NBC can actually pull out another good one if they get their act together. (Community and P&R are awesome)...so it might be the end of an era for 30 Rock but I'm happy that it gets to end on its own terms.

  8. That was hysterical... I had to stifle a laugh...
