Ginnifer Goodwin has landed the lead role in ABC drama pilot Once Upon a Time.

The project, from former Lost producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, will focus on a troubled young woman who travels to a small town in Maine where fairy tales are real.

Deadline reports that Big Love star Goodwin will play Sister Mary Margaret, or Snow White, who is put under a spell by a wicked queen (Lana Parrilla).

In addition to her role as Big Love's Margene Heffman, Goodwin previously starred in NBC series Ed from 2001 to 2004 and has appeared in films such as A Single Man and He's Just Not That Into You.

Lost executive producer Damon Lindelof originally helped to develop the Once Upon a Time pilot but is no longer involved with the project.

  1. Aw, I was excited about Kitsis/Horowitz AND Lindelof. Oh well, this sounds fun and I like Goodwin, so, hopefully, it will work out!

  2. Smart guy, that Lindelof. Too many fantasy projects in the works this pilot season and none of them stand out all that much from one another. Getting this show on air is a crap shoot at best and the odds are even smaller that it actually becomes successful, especially at ABC.

Way to cut and run, Lindelof.
