•Series is up 14% over Season 1 average

The hit CTV Original Series THE LISTENER is making a move to Fridays at 8 p.m. ET beginning April 1 on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times). Averaging 1.1 million viewers season-to-date, THE LISTENER has seen growth with younger viewers (+ 7% with A18-34) and an impressive 14% growth over its Season 1 average.

Starring Craig Olejnik (The Timekeeper), Ennis Esmer (Young People F**king), Lauren Lee Smith (CSI) and Tara Spencer-Nairn (CORNER GAS), THE LISTENER takes over THE DEFENDERS Friday night time-slot on CTV. The intriguing, telepathic, crime-fighting drama continues with new episodes featuring Canadian guest stars Cynthia Dale, Kris Holden-Ried (THE TUDORS), Yannick Bisson (MURDOCH MYSTERIES), Aaron Ashmore (SMALLVILLE) and more.

New episodes of THE LISTENER are available on demand the day following their television broadcast on the CTV Video Player at CTV.ca.

In the new episode of THE LISTENER, “Ace in the Hole” (Friday, April 1 at 8 p.m. ET), the death of a CSIS (Canadian Security Intelligence Service) agent and a breach of classified information prompt Michelle (Lauren Lee Smith) to turn to her estranged husband (guest star Kris Holden-Ried, THE TUDORS) and Toby (Craig Olejnik) to infiltrate a high-stakes poker game and uncover the missing puzzle pieces surrounding the death of the agent.

THE LISTENER also stars Rainbow Sun Francks (STARGATE ATLANTIS) as Corp. Dev Clark, Peter Stebbings (MADISON) as Alvin Klein the Bureau’s in-house legal expert, Mylène Dinh-Robic (STARGATE ATLANTIS) as Dr. Olivia Fawcett and Arnold Pinnock (THIS IS WONDERLAND) as EMS supervisor George Ryder.

Viewers can also get the inside scoop on all the THE LISTENER action and experience the series on a whole new virtual level on Facebook and Twitter as well as listener.ctv.ca with The Listener’s Vision Buster Game.

  2. If it's such a "hit" why is it moving to Fridays? Or is Friday not a death slot in Canada? I really don't know. Do more people watch TV on Friday in Canada than in the US? I'm talking percentage here, not total viewers, of course :P

  3. As a Canadian, I really couldn't tell you :P. A show with 1.1 million viewers here is (proportionally) the equivalent of a show with 11 million viewers in the states (i.e. a really big hit). No clue why or if Friday would be any better though.

  4. I'm pissed at the writers of this show. Loved it in season 1 and then season 2 finale comes YOUPI! and its like season 1 didnt happen! angry me. any way... had to speak

    I'm suprised its "doing well"

  5. are you surprised that maybe the writters and the producers who spent their days thinking about those things, actually know what they are doing? LOL

  6. I think they did the best with what they had. I'm guessing they couldnt bring back some of the stars and did the best they could with that. I said "writers" but i dont know who's falt it is actualy.
But I watched season 1 last week and its crazy how much it doesnt match with season 2. you know, all the things with his mom its just weird how now its like it never happened.

  7. The funny thing is that you speak like they are failing when their ratings are up and more people are watching.

Yes i know his neurologist has disapeared, olivia is on the back burner like they never had an history, all the questions about his mom has vanished, but the season is not over, maybe they will bring that back. they mention that after the death of his friend and detective he kind of tried to stay away from all of this. they introduced new characters they need to take time to really let the audience invest in those 3 new people and then maybe they will bring back the storyline...

But i believe Olivia will get more importance as Toby's partnership with yet another very sexy woman from law enforcement is getting stronger (old trick on tv shows is love triangles) and that given the power of the people who were after him, an RCMP enquiry is better suited for him to get answers...

the only thing here that i do not understand is that the show is getting more viewers and they put it on friday, but this is Canada, i know in Europe they have TV shows on fridays and it works but Canada has always seemed to me like a civilised version of the USA so that move to friday is surprising

  9. "A civilised version of the USA" PWAHAHHA :D love it

I know the ratings are up and that's what I find weird. just wanted to say I was mad about this show, I was REALLY into it in s1 and then after 2 years (1 1/2?) its back and its not the same. But they are getting new people to watch it, I think that for those who havnt seen s1 its great, so i kind of get why they are doing it like that and yeah they will prob bring back his mom story later on the season.
+ I often dont like shows when ratings are up, and when they are down thats when the show is SO GREAT, I guess im weird. So far Bones was up, most fans complained that it was getting bad and castle was up too and I hated part 1 of s2.

Any way, sorry if I offend you or what ever just had to say how I was feeling about the season
