Too bad it's only the first 15 minutes of the pilot....I wish it was a full on episode sneak peak like STARZ did with Camelot (BTW , Camelot's pilot is pretty good), but I am happy it cuts my wait somewhat in even the tiniest way.....
ReplyDeleteI saw Camelot too. It WAS pretty good. It took me a while to get used to scrawny, buck-toothed Arthur though.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be odd seeing both Starz and HBO airing their medieval dramas just days apart.
And blonde... Arthur as a blonde? Odd.
ReplyDeleteI think STARZ aired the pilot now so it could get some word of mouth going, before the juggernaught-to-be that is Game of Thrones arrives on the scene. Can't blame them at all! I would have preferred they air in different "seasons" so I could have some medieval drama year round.... but I will take what I can get... happily!
I enjoyed it but i thought it wayyyyy too fast paced.... meaning that there was no time to breathe.....Dialogue flowed too quickly and responses as well, it was all very rushed and very distracting!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. I think it should have been a two hour pilot. Truth be told, I always had concerns about Camelot since I am not a big fan of the Spatacus series. So for me, Camelot was better than I expected. No slow-motion blood spills or ridiculous wire rope stunts so far.... so that is a very good thing!
ReplyDeleteI did think it was odd casting for Arthur and maybe Merlin too, but they won me over by episode end. I still hope that the 2 sex scenes in the pilot are not a sign of things to come. I am not prudish at all, but I think that Spartacus uses sex as a shock tool or simply for ratings more than it being plot driven. I hope it is not a network trait.
Speaking of the sex scenes... does James Purefoy have some contractual clause that at least one sex scene is required per episode? Marc Anthony was a busy boy on Rome and he started out busy on Camelot too! :)
i though Camelot's pilot was rather weak hope GOT is better - it certainly has a stronger cast
