Major Update to My SpoilerTV *Please Read*

13 Mar 2011

Update: 13th March Based on all the excellent feedback we've been getting, we've made a Major update of the my.spoilertv.com page.

Now the clever part is that you can now hover over a non-text part of the show widget and then "drag" it to a position where you want.

You'll notice that when a widget is highlighted that each corner has a little orange square. These allow you to change the width and height of the widget.

Now obviously it takes a while to setup your screen how you want it but once done it should remember your screen setup when you next come back. You can still Show/Hide the widgets that you want as per the original post below.

Please let me know in the comments if there are any issues and what you think of it. If you can think of any other widgets/shows that you'd like to see added to the page please let me know.

Update: 8th March We're pleased to say that the initial testing has been pretty successful. We've now added another 20+ shows to the My SpoilerTV Portal. We'll be adding even more shows to the portal over next couple of weeks.

Hey All,

We've got another new feature to announce here at SpoilerTV.

As part of our recent request for feedback and suggestions (please keep them coming!), another of the most requested features what to have some form of customisation that would allow you to see just the show(s) that you are interested in.

So we're pleased to say that we have a very early Beta version of this new "portal" page. You can access it via the link below or via the Features, My STV menu link.

my.spoilertv.com

Now please remember that this is a BETA site and there are bugs/restrictions, but we wanted to release it so that we could get some initial feedback/suggestions etc.

NOTES
- Currently we have only included the top 12 most popular shows here at SpoilerTV. We will be adding a lot more once we've gone through the testing phase
- Currently you can only show/hide the actual shows. Some parts are not removable. We may change this later
- You need to have cookies enabled for the system to remember your settings
- If you currently use a theme on the main page, this theme will not work on the My SpoilerTV Page, we currently only have 1 theme installed.
- Clicking on a link will open the article in a new window. We hope to allow the option to open the page in a pop-up window like we do on the homepage
- There are ZERO advertisments on this page and we'll do our best to keep it that way.
- To configure your shows simply click on the link under the menu.

We want you to test this as much as you can and to let us know of any bugs etc. Please post them in the comments below and let us know which Browser and Version you are using if you discover a bug.

  5. Nice! Just one thing if you select less shows (my picks: Fringe, Glee, TVD, Supernatural) it woud look better if the shows line up or you could pick the order in which they show up and not leave empty spaces. Maybe one column for your the shows and the other for the non-removable parts (Announcements, latest comments).

  6. Thanks Claudia, very good suggestion. I've added them to our "To Do" list.

Thanks for taking the time to provide the feedback.

  7. No problem. :D I just felt bad for Fringe because it was all alone in the 1st column. ;D

  12. Any chance for an iPod/iPad/Blackberry app?

    ReplyDelete
  13. We don't have an actual app but we have a number of Mobile
versions/options for most of the site.

  24. So, after using My SpoilerTV for a few days and enjoying it greatly, I have one suggestion:

I think Claudia may have already discussed this, but, the left column (features) is likely to run out of categories well before the right column (shows) depending on what someone watches. As such, you're left with a whole slew of shows in the right hand column and blank space in the left. I don't know if there would be some way to centre the remaining shows, or else to simply have them start filling those blank spaces. It would definitely make it easier to navigate.

    Thanks again!

  25. Thanks for the feedback mate. Yep I need to have another look at the layout
of this to see if we can improve things. Out of interest, how many shows do
you have selected to be shown?

    ReplyDelete
  26. 20 lol, I follow a lot of shows. The bottom 10 or 11 are by themselves on the right.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ah cool, and it's only going to get worse i suspect as we add more sections
    and shows

    ReplyDelete
  28. Looks like you're doing awesome work! It's all getting a bit much for me though, so i'm happy just sticking to the regular site with a few things removed and a colour-change. :P

    ReplyDelete
  29. Ha, that's cool. It's certainly not for everybody and most people
still use the site as it always was. This is just for people who want
to customize their experience a bit ;)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Nice idea but it's really frustrating the first time around. I'm using Google Chrome and the positions change, every time I change the zoom to see all shows to decide where I want to put them and then I've to start all over again because the shows overlap. And if you're not very careful while rearranging you will be send to the normal spoilertv page.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Definitely, choice is an awesome thing, i dare say once i get over being overwhelmed i'll be trying out some of this stuff too, lol! :D

    ReplyDelete
  32. Yep, it's not ideal currently and takes a bit of work.

Best thing to do is to first Hide all the shows, then add one of the
shows back in and get it's position where you want it, then add
    another show etc.

There could well be bugs, so if you see a particular widget/show
that's not remembering it's position please let me know and I'll test.

    ReplyDelete
  33. The remembering part works like a charm. You just have to wait a second and let the shows jump to their position. Some kind of raster would be nice since you can't have a look at all your shows at once because reducing the zoom factor changes their position. A raster would make rearranging so much easier. I want it to look nice and symmetrical and that's not easy at the moment.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yep, I'm not sure we'll be able to do that, I'll see what we can do.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Love it, especially being able to put my favorite parts on the top and being able to see the forum posts. Sometimes I forget to check the forums and miss out on good discussion. This let's me see clearly what's going on at both sites.

Just one thing - I have a White Collar sized hole on my page. Any chance we will be getting a WC option sometime soon?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thanks Dahne, glad you like it.

Yep, we'll be adding a few more shows shortly to the page. Didn't want
to try and do too much at the start. I'm sure WC will be one of those
    shows.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm not sure what happened, but everything on my page has been resized/placed alphabetically. It still knows which shows I follow, so I assume that this is due to an update that occurred between when I first arranged things and today?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yep, I'm afraid so, with the update today we have to update all positions again.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Lol no worries, just wanted to make sure it wasn't my browser being crazy.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Any chance you will add Law and Order SVU/LA, Mr. Sunshine and Alcatraz/Person of Interest (too soon? Maybe just a "Pilot shows" section).

    ReplyDelete
  41. We hope to a few more shows each month to the list. We're going to
give things a few weeks to iron out any bugs etc.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Question: I went back to myspoilertv just to find all my carefully arranged shows totally scattered and all over the place and I can't change it because I can't drag them. Why?
