Question of the Day - What was your favorite television show episode of 2010?

24 Feb 2011

Today's Question of the Day comes from Michele who asks.

"What was your favorite television show episode of 2010?"

For me this was quite easy. The finale episode of LOST left some fans frustrated and some even angry, however, I absolutely loved the finale and the end, even now just thinking about it, brings a tear to my eye.

Other notable episodes for me were.

- The Pilot Episode of The Event
- The Final Episode of FlashForward (still bitter they cancelled it)
- Season 1 Finale of V
- Premiere of Persons Unknown (So much wasted potential)
- Finale of Rubicon (Another show cancelled too soon)

So what about you? What were some of your favourite episodes of 2010 and which was your absolute favourite.

  1. First comment, nice. Well, I am not a big fan of DH, but i caught the one episode called "Down The Street Theres A Riot" which was incredibly emotional and made a huge impact. Also, I liked the Glee Christmas episode, really touching

But the best? Last episode of Caprica - Apotheosis

  2. I have a few :)

NCIS "Enemies Foreign" and "Enemies Domestic"! Action packed and entertaining!

    Weeds season 6 finale!

One Tree Hill "Darkness on the Edge of Town". Brooke saved Jamies life, that was cool.

Parenthood "Do Not Sleep with Your Autistic Nephew's Therapist". Very emotional scenes with Sarah/Seth/Amber/Drew. Lauren Graham, John Corbett and Mae Wittman are amazing!

    I'll think of more ^^

  3. I absolutely agree with you about the LOST finale. It was so emotional and I found it satisfying. I still cannot watch the scene with Jack and Vincent without getting all teary-eyed! Also, the two part Season 2 finale and Fringe was just amazing. The final scene with Olivia begging for Walternate to let her out of the cell was gut-wrenching.

  4. Fringe - 2x21 & 2x22 - Over There, Part 1 & 2
    3x04 - The Plateau

    LOST - 6x09 - Ab Aeterno

    Supernatural - 5x22 - Swan Song

The Walking Dead - 1x01 - Days Gone Bye

  5. "Entrada" was awesome and "Olivia" too [Fringe] . I liked too "Darkness on the Edge of Town" [OTH] and "Red Rain" [V]

  6. End of 24 I cried. :'( I still miss it and since I'm watching LOST now I'll miss that when I finish.

  7. Easy answer: The End of Lost. I've watched it over and over and cry and get inspired each time. I loved all of season 6 and I realize I'm in a minority there, but The End was the best.

The pilot of The Walking Dead was utterly compelling.

  8. I was going to say the same!!!!!exactly the same!!
    -LOST series finale
    -FRINGE season 2 finale

  9. Private Practice "Did You Hear What Happened to Charlotte King?" For a show that is usually a nighttime fluff soap this episode was riveting, and heartbreaking. Agree with TV Guide review: "There were moments, particularly when fiancée Cooper first saw the extent of her injuries, that it was like we weren't even watching TV anymore."

  10. My best episode of 2010: Swan Song - Supernatural (an emotional and epic ending to a fantastic season)

Honorable mentions go to Weekend at Bobby's, Clap your Hands if You Believe, Live Free or Twihard, and Point of No Return (all from Supernatural)

  11. Fringe: It's a toss up between "Peter", "Over There Part 1 & 2" and "Entrada".

  12. "The Suitcase" -- Mad Men
Effing miraculous writing. That episode had everything AND more.

"Cleaning House" -- The Good Wife
One of the reasons I'm pretty sure this might be the best show on tv right now...

    "Swan Song" -- Supernatural
So, SO sad. And bloody as hell too. The scene with the impala, the scene with Sam and Lucifer and the mirror, the narration by Chuck, the dedication shown in the end... So awesome...And I just completely disagree with the people who say there should've been a big battle, to give those squabbling angels an actual chance to murder millions would've been ridiculous after the realization that they were just full of themselves and needed to be put in timeout...

"Point of No Return" -- Supernatural
Just for Bobby's speech about suicide and promises. I still get chills thinking about it.

    "Peter" -- Fringe
Depressing doesn't begin to cover it...

    "White Tulip" -- Fringe
    Incredible, INCREDIBLE standalone episode.

  13. I'm not sure if i should even count this one because it first aired Dec 09 on Direct Tv, but it didnt air on NBC till 2010. "The Son" Friday Night Lights, just an incredible episode of Television.

But if that doesnt count, i would probably go with Peter/Over There from Fringe, or the Lost Finale.

And for comedy I would have to go with Modern Warfare from Community.

  14. Oh that is a great question! Not that easy to answer, but I'll try.

    No. 5)
    Modern Family – 1.23 – Hawaii
That show is always funny, but this one was just brilliant.

    No. 4)
    The Mentalist – 2.13 – Redline
One of the best guest characters in the form of Walter Mashburn. He was so great, that they brought him back for season 3.

    No. 3)
    Castle – 2.18 – Boom!
Oh what a great 2-parter. Loved that second part.

    No. 2)
    House – 6.21 – Help Me
The best episode of the show. This was so great. This would be my favorite episode of 2010, but in September 2010 came a new show along and that Pilot takes the grand prize home.

    No. 1)
    Hawaii-Five-0 – 1.01 – Pilot
One of the best Pilots ever. That one has the quality of a movie. I totally love it and fell instantly in love with the show. Never happened before. This show got it all. Crime, action, drama, humor, great characters, really good actors, fantastic writing, wonderful photography and did I mention the action, and of course the scenery of one of the most beautiful places on earth.

  15. I'll also say Mad Men's "The Suitcase". The best hour of television of the year, maybe the best of the entire series, and - no hyperbole - one of the best TV episodes ever. Outstanding writing, outstanding writing, and tremendous payoff that's been four years in the making. TV doesn't get any better.

After that, probably the hilarious Community paintball/action movie parody episode "Modern Warfare".

  16. The Walking Dead- Pilot

  17. 1) The Vampire Diaries "The Return"-Such an amazing episode! We got to see Katherine in this episode and it had a ton of action in it. The twist at the end with Caroline being turned into a vampire by Kat was suprising!

2)The Vampire Diaries "Masquerade"-Loved this episode. We got to see the boys trying to kill Katherine and Katherine's crazy (but awesome antics). This episode was full of action and I really did not expect for her to be trapped in the tomb at the end!

3)Supernatural "Swan Song"-Loved this episode! I felt so sad when Bobby and Castiel were killed..aww. :(. I loved the scenes with Sam and Dean when they were younger..those were too cute.

    4) Glee "Duets"-This episode was one of my favorites from Glee this season. Loved how Finn and Rachel were working together to throw the competition. Also loved the Sam and Quinn scenes and how they were falling for each other. The songs in the episode were so good and it felt like an old school Glee episode.

4)The Walking Dead "Days Gone Bye"-This episode was amazing! Loved how we got the scary scenes but also got to see Rick surviving. This episode got me hooked on the show

  18. Good catch. Modern Warfare will be a classic. In comedy, I also liked the pilot of Raising Hope.

  19. Cold Case- Metamorphisis; great episode especially with the music from The Doors.

  20. IT is always so difficult for me to wrap my head around comparing one episode to another... I like some for one reason and others for completely different reasons, but....

    1. Easy answer like so many have said is LOST- (6x16) The End.
I found it moving and was choked up numerous times during it! Bonus points since so many were pissed afterwards. I truly enjoyed debating (arguing) with people after the fact on why it was brilliant!

    2. The Walking Dead Pilot (1x01) Days Gone by.
This was my favorite pilot of the year and showed people that a well written and well shot drama with incredible actors (even if you don't know their names or faces) can be absolutely brilliant even if it is "about zombies". Now over-the-top camera tricks, no Hong Kong style fight stunts, no pastel buildings with scenic ocean views... just great TV!

    3. Breaking Bad - (3x12) Half Measures
One of the best series on TV and one of its best episodes. So much drama and volatility packed into one body... Jesse not the series itself. He is one of those people you know will get himself killed and all the people around him killed and yet.... the show is so well done you cannot stop watching. The drug world has bean done and done again by so many series and movies, but Breaking Bad manages to keep it fresh and keep the viewer completely uncertain of what is going to happen next. Reccomended viewing for EVERYONE!

    4. Fringe- (2x16) Peter
This episode for me was the episode that completely drew me into the series. I was somewhat disappointed with season two of Fringe honestly, but "Peter" showed me a level of depth and humanity not often seen in TV shows. Seeing the beginning of it all... the first tear in the universes, it set up the future of Fringe for me and it made me look back at the previous two years differently.

    Honorable mention to:
A number of Terriers episodes, Rubicon (The Outsider), Breaking Bad (The Fly and Full measures), and the entire second season of Party Down....

  22. Supernatural - The Song Remains The Same
Dean and Sam travel back in time to protect their parents from Anna.It had everything!Emotional scenes with the brothers,John and Mary. The talk between Cas and Anna and the whole "Sam is my friend" thing. And,of course,Michael appeared! Also, that's when "Team Free Will" was born..

Supernatural - Point Of No Return
100th episode!Dean winks at Sam right before he slams the angel sword in Zach's throat..That was one of the many awesome scenes in the episode!
That's my absolute favorite episode for 2010!

    Supernatural - Swan Song
Chuck's narration, while Sam forces Lucifer and Michael into the cage..Need I say more!?!It was the perfect ending for the five year plan!

    Numb3rs - Cause And Effect
SERIES finale!Still can't get over the fact that it's over..Charlie and Amita finally get married and everyone draw their own path..One question:Did they really have to split Colby and David up!?!That was cruel...

The Tudors - Death Of A Monarchy
Also a series finale.Loved the idea of Henry seeing all his past wives before he dies..Great show!

    FlashForward - Future Shock
Still can't understand why they canceled it..The series finale was great,as the world catches up with the events seen in the flashforward. It would have been even greater if it was followed by a season 2...

  23. The end (Lost) and Entrada (Fringe)

  24. I agree about FlashForward. I still wish V would have been canceled instead of it.

  31. I keep meaning to check out Being Erica since I have only heard good things, but I have no idea what it's about and I always forget to look for it in DVD (or online episodes).... It is now official on my non-official must watch list...

    ReplyDelete
  32. When I re-watched LOST at the end of last year I thought the same thing.... It became so obvious to me (again) how brilliant it was as a series and in its execution. Comparing it... or rather contrasting it to the new season's pilot episodes was very revealing to me. Not much compares sadly...
