Missing - ABC to air new thriller series this summer

ABC has picked up the series "Missing," with the Alphabet planning on a summer debut.

Pilot was written by Greg Poirier and skein will be exec produced by Gina Matthews, Grant Scharbo and Steve Shill, who also directed the pilot. The trio also produced The Gates for ABC last summer. ABC Studios are producing with Little Engine Prods.

Story centers on a a worried mom who takes it upon herself to travel to Europe and track down her son who had gone missing during a summer internship. It soon becomes clear that this isn't any ordinary woman, but a former CIA agent who will stop at nothing to bring her son home alive.

ABC will also be airing the Canadian series "Combat Hospital" during the summer in addition to season 2 of Rookie Blue.

    It sounds like a great suspenseful miniseries, like Persons Unknown last summer.

    Sounds exactly like Liam Neeson in TAKEN, but with a mother hunting for a son and not a father trying to get his daughter back. That's okay to me since I enjoyed TAKEN quite a bit!

    I enjoyed most of Persons unknown too. Too bad they had to throw and ending together so quickly. It felt to me like they wanted to set up a second season, but then tweaked it to give more answers when they found out it was cancelled.

    Yep, it does seem very similar and yes, I enjoyed Taken as well :)
