Supernatural's Breaking the Fourth Wall! - Good or Bad Idea Poll

6 Jan 2011

Howdy Supernatural Fans,

As you probably knew before me, but I found out yesterday, Supernatural is going where no show normally dares to tread, it's breaking the Fourth Wall.

Ausiello mentioned it in his 'Ask' Column:
As you may or may not have heard, a late winter episode will obliterate the fourth wall by transporting Sam and Dean to an alt-uni where they are actors named Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki starring in a cult TV show called Supernatural.

So, What D'You Think? Initial Thoughts obviously, I won't hold you to it if you change your mind afterwards :P
Vote, Comment. You know what to do :P

  1. I'm not voting. I'm more interested in seeing what you die-hard fans think. :P

  2. I love the idea, it is daring, refreshing and opens up the possibilties to so many inside-jokes. I can not wait to see it! I think it will be an extremely funny episode, though maybe it will be less funny to not so-dedicated fans. We'll just see.

  3. Until I SEE the episode, I can't answer the question .. but I WILL say that Supernatural has brilliantly pulled off some stuff in the past that could easily have gone wrong a bunch of ways. (Oh yes, and I avoided reading the paragraph that referred to Ausiello's spoiler info .. because I'm a spoilerphobe when it comes to Supernatural .. and I'm trying to keep what I know about the meta episode to a MINIMUM).

  4. I cut the bits that I thought were spoiler-y. I just left the basic concept of the episode :P

I agree that it'll be interesting to see Fan Reaction to such an intruiging idea!

    ReplyDelete
  5. When I first heard about it, my original thought was that it sounded dumb, but once I thought about it, it seemed like a genius idea

  6. Supernatural always produces great work on new ideas so im looking forward to this being done as first off all its going to be very funny for us fans seeing how they behave about this like they did with the books about themselves and its also an original concept, no one has ever done it before, so its a very big risk but if its pulled of correctly which i believe it will then it will be a very successful episode for the series and for supernatural as a whole :D

  7. I love it so much that I thought it was fake when I first heard about it. After all, they handled The Monster at the End of This Book well and a time-loop episode awesomely. Not to mention a certain alternate-universe episode is my all time favourite. In fact, all three meta-time-alternate universe episodes are in my top 12. This can only be a good thing.

  8. I'm very looking forward to seeing how they go about executing it. One of the best things about SPN, and one of the reasons it's done so well is because it was so creative in it's first 5 seasons. Kripke and co. were willing to take risks, whilst this season, Gamble seems a bit hesitant, but this is good news -- and the history of SPN is behind them. It could be great. Here's hoping...

  9. While I'm going to have to wait and see the episode before I pass final judgement, I'm definitely open to the idea, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Supernatural does with the episode. I've always trusted the writers on this show, and they've very rarely led us astray (IMO, anyway :) ), so I'm going to stick with that.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I love it. I just hope the episode doesn't feel like a rehash of 'Changing Channels' or 'The Monster at the End of the Book'. I find the idea of Jared playing Sam freaking out about being Jared and not Sam hilarious. I can't wait to find out what craziness the writers got in store for us. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think it's gonna be awesome. Just think about Changing Channels or Wishful Thinking with the Teddy Bear. Those were pretty insane ideas too. I'm not entirely satisfied with season 6, but I'm sure this can't go wrong.(Or of course it can, but it won't)
So I say, bring it on!

    ReplyDelete
  12. As a idea, this has the potential to be fantastic or a real train wreck, I won't really be able to judge until I see the final product. So I voted unsure. If any show can pull this off, Supernatural can.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Have to see this vid. Friend sent it to me. Jensen discussing the possibility of a 7th season!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  14. His beard looks funny...

    ReplyDelete
  15. Supernatural likes to take risks. If it works it will be awesome, if it doesn't there is always the next episode. :D

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think it's a great idea, I'm really looking forward to finding out how and why they are transported to this 'alternative universe'. :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. If it were any other show I'd be worried, but Supernatural seems to have a knack for these kind of episodes and I'm sure they'll pull it off splendidly.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I don't know if it'll work with other shows, but as Supernatural has alread "wondered these lands" I guess it was a natural path to take. I've always wondered myself why they haven't done this before.

    ReplyDelete
  19. He will not vote I prefer seeing the chapter, a chapter of a " alternative world " them is the well-read one to heaps in the fic as dean, sam, jensen, jared, this way that I can stand, probably the message is that the boys admit that to them it they does not work " to have a family and to take a normal life "

    ReplyDelete
  20. I have seen different shows do something similar to this and both execute it well and badly... so I will abstain from voting until I see the episode. It seems to have the possibilities of limitless snark ... so that may be a good thing. It also could be the veritable leather jacket under the life vest.....

    ReplyDelete
  21. I voted unsure......
Yes I know 'procrastinate like your life depends on it'......

It has the potential to be a truly phenomenal episode if handled well. I see no reason why it shouldn't be one of the funniest, if not the best, episodes ever. Having said that, most of us here were convinced Live Free or Twihard was going to be hilarious, and it actually wasn't all that funny.
BUT.....if any show can pull this off successfully it has to be Supernatural......

Without giving anything else away, I really hope the people hating on the guest for this episode (no names mentioned) will quit being so disrespectful - the comments on other sites have been absolutely spiteful.

So, I'm on the fence. Again. No surprises there.......wait and see.....

    ReplyDelete
  22. Oh and it will also be interesting to see whether this has anything to do with the current mytharc, or if it's just being thrown in as a filler.

    ReplyDelete
  23. There's been a spoiler that it has to do with the mytharc. As much as I can give away here is that it has to do with the civil war between er<LAFN and sdkjsdj.

    ReplyDelete
  24. well that's good news - Tall Tales and Changing Channels worked so well because they were part of the bigger picture (oh and did I mention the Trickster? If angels weren't 'junkless sissies' I might believe this episode was the work of Gabe's offspring).

    ReplyDelete
  25. I don't get very hung up on things like this, so I'll probably laugh whether it's funny or not. I voted "unsure" though.

But one of the parallels between their acting history and Supernatural roles, which not as many people know, is that Jensen used to be on the soap opera Days of Our Lives a little over 10 years ago. His role was mostly chasing after his sociopathic twin sister whose name was ... wait for it ... Sami. He was running around saying, "What are you up to Sami?" "What are you plotting, Sami?" And he still looks the exact same! And of course more people know that Jared used to play Dean on the Gilmore Girls. They could have fun with that, although I don't think many people would get a Days reference.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Some people might be afraid doing sth like this would break it for good, you know, they're totally gonna SHOW us that this is just a tv show. That Sam and Dean are not real. They're gonna openly admit it's all a fiction. Will that make me stop following the brothers like they were real? Well I say... NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!! LOL

No, really, no matter how many walls they break, I will always and forever be convinced that the world of Supernatural is the real one, as I watch. What might happen after this episode is that I will start believing our world is fake lol you know, like in Inception (can't believe I'm mentioning this movie for the second time today) - they're gonna put this idea in my brain - "your world is not real". I hope I'm not gonna go suicidal afterwards :P

lmao sorry for this, but I couldn't help :D

No, honestly I think it's a great idea. I hope they manage it better than the vampire episode, though (which I still loved, but I loved it for different reasons than I thought I would). So fingers crossed it works out. This is gonna be a huge acting challenge for Jared and Jensen, cause playing yourself is one thing, but playing a character who's not you but told to be you, is something different.

    ReplyDelete
  27. That has always entertained me and his conenction to Days was the reason I started on SPN when it first aired.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I voted unsure. I think I'll have to see it first to judge wether it was a good idea or not. Like percysowner said: this could be really good or really bad. But I have faith in the writers and just wait before judging...

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sounds hilarious but I don't think I would get any of the soap references.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I voted unsure... All I can say is that this isn't going to be a mediocre episode. It will either be awesome or total crap. If it's going to end up being like "Changing Channels" it'll be a genius one!

    ReplyDelete
  31. wooooooowww!!!!hell yeah!!!!!! but i want Misha in it for sure!!!!! <3 :DDDDD

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hey Darq I can do you one better. I started watching Jensen on Days and was totally siked when he showed up on Dark Angel (he is the main reason why I kept watching), Dawson's Creek, Smallville and Finally SPN. I was a huge fan of the WB and so as soon as I saw him for the promo for SPN in 2005.... I was like "Hell yeah, I am going to totally watch that pilot." I have been hooked ever since :)

    ReplyDelete
  33. I use to believe that every life was a tv show and that poeple bigger then us (cause tv screen used to be small) where watching us and i thought my tv life show sucked hahaha!

To my defense ut was LONG ago and im 18 so i was pretty little but still PWAHAHA! This show will bring memory ahha. SUPERNATURAL IS REAL!

LOL : "This is gonna be a huge acting challenge for Jared and Jensen, cause playing yourself is one thing, but playing a character who's not you but told to be you, is something different. " OMG I cant wait for Dean to try to understand what is going on PWAHAHHA!

    ReplyDelete
  34. LOL ehhehe! Awesome I didnt know the Sami part though i knew he was on days.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Filler or no filler, I have faith, it is going to be a great episode.
Supernatural proofed over the years they are very well capable to take the show to extremly high-altitude flights (funny if not always intellectual).
If you do not like the funny episodes, you may be dissapointed. Since I am a sucker for them, I´m sure that I am gonna laught my ass off.

Come on, I can almost hear some classic Dean lines coming from there...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Um Adam, I think you meant so evil that Becky must have written it in a fanfic contest of tween girls to make viewers' brains bleed. You can't kill the Winchesters. The devil already tried. They could however kill me.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I feel weird voting before i've seen the episode but i know i'm absolutely going to love it, the writers will pull it off and J and J will be awesome as always ....woooop can't wait :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. Such a smart and cool idea! And I'm really interested to see the whole Sam/Jared and his wife thing :P lol

    ReplyDelete
  39. Have people really been complaining about the guest? That's nasty! I can't wait for her to come back.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Dark Angel was where I first saw (and fell for) Jensen. I'm so glad that of all the one-episode X5s from season 1, they chose Jensen to join main cast in the second season. He was also the reason to keep watching for me (well, him and Joshua ;)) and I absolutely loved Alec. And it was pretty much the reason I got interested by SPN Pilot when it aired :) that and the horror vibes... and Jared :) (although I really disliked his character on Gilmore Girls).

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love this idea, I studied Brecht (not sure of the spelling!) and the whole idea of breaking down the 4th wall was really appealing. We have an Egyptian writer who's called Yousef Edris, he's very famous who applied the same idea in one of his plays but in a different way.

    ReplyDelete
  42. To me its like they saw how awesome Monster was and they keep trying to re make it. Just like the convention episode - which was very poor. Come on supernatural get your groove back

    ReplyDelete
  43. The idea itself is nothing new, but I´m happy that the writers have the guts to do such an episode. SPN showed in the last years a few times that they are absolutely capable for those strange and surreals episodes, with even a great plot and well pointed twists and turns.
But there is already a, I will call it shadow, that splits the fandom already in two groups. You know who I mean: Gen Padalecki. When I heard about the plot for the show, my first idea was: It would be so funny when Sam meets her. And yeah it seems that Rob Enlund had the same. (which is cool, lol)
But it´s also fact that Gen/Ruby isn´t that popular in the fanbase. So I´m not that sure, how that idea will work out in the end to bring her at all.
The epi could be crap or totaly awesome. I hope of course for the latter.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Holy mother I meant BEN EDLUND!!!!! hahahaha I don´t know why I wrote Rob Enlund, LOL. *brain*

    ReplyDelete
  45. Ahh Supernatural fans. You never disappoint. :P

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ok - it's Supernatural! It sounds GENIUS! xD I actually laughed just by reading this, because I was just imagining how funny it would be XD I CAN'T WAIT! :D

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think the idea of Mr. and Mrs. Padalecki being in as a married couple to contrast Sam and Ruby could be hilarious fun, and I am one of the rare Ruby fans (Ruby v1 David Cassidy's daughter not the Mrs).

    ReplyDelete
  48. SmallvilleSupernaturalCastle6 January 2011 at 23:57

hey if john glover can break the 4th wall on Smallville as Lionel Luthor then so can supernatural!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Here's your counterpoint. This episode sounds terrible. I hate the idea of breaking the fourth wall and I do believe that the Supernatural crew has done some dumb things in the history of the show. This synopsis surpasses them all. Moreover, I prefer to keep characters' lives and actors' lives separate. It makes feel a lot less like a crazy stalker. :-P

Still, I will watch it and it might surprise me. It could hardly be worse than it is in my head.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Question: do we know if Ben Edlund wrote it? If he has a hand in it, it WILL be good. That's all I have to say. =)

    ReplyDelete
  51. I only read a report, where Misha was saying, that Ben Edlund, had the idea with Gen.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I believe that they already sort of broke the fourth wall in Monster at the End of this Book...I think this is more like blowing it up.

    ReplyDelete
  53. OMG!!! Apparently THIS is the episode named the french mistake.... And from the spoilers I think Misha is gay (Misha played by misha i mean)
: "here are scenes involving him and a character named Virgil. Their interactions might not be so pleasant for Misha...and that's all I'm gonna say... smile for now ;)" source : http://www.supernaturallocations.com/apps/blog/show/5778556-spoilers-from-6x15-the-french-mistake

    ReplyDelete
  54. The Real Ghostbusters wasn't that bad. But it was sort of like a knock-off of the awesome Monster at the End of this Book.

Although I have high hopes for this episode, I hope its not like the faerie one, which everyone thought was going to be awesome but was just...good. So let's try not to hype it up so much..

    ReplyDelete
  55. But most fan hated ruby, and this is only bringing back Gen, its not like the caracter of ruby came back to life like meg keeps on doing lol.
I wish I could say there wont be bitching on the actress coming back but some fans are really mean i guess HAHAHA! :PPP BUT I CANT FREAKEN WAIT

    ReplyDelete
  56. :O! I loved the convention episode hahahaha!

    ReplyDelete
  57. voted unsure because thats what i am right now. unsure. i heard about this the other week and i still don't know what to think. i'm very exctied to see it, i know that!! i can't wait for this ridiculous hellatus to be over.
but i just don't want it to be terrible because it could be. even though most times supernatural has done something like this its been epic!!
i guess i'll have to see it to decide

    ReplyDelete
  58. i guess that most people (and me too sorta) arre just biased against her because of how insanely evil ruby was!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. I can't believe what some fans are saying about Gen!! I for one think it will be hilarious.

I admit that she wasn't the best Ruby, because I felt like she didn't have the "sassy attitude" down. But that doesn't mean that she won't do a great job as herself!

    ReplyDelete
  60. Lol I LOVE ruby. Wish she were good and got send back to hell and tortured for ages and we would be like NO SHE IS GOOD. POOR HER and move on LOL like ADAM HAHAHAHAHpwahahaha. sorry hum.... yeah. But I knew her from 2 other show so when I saw her I had to be in love with who ever she was (and I saw s4 finale before any thing else so liked her more then ruby 1) oh yeah that sucked for me btw cause i kinda knew in the back of my head that she was evil but didnt remember why until the finale ahahaha any hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

    ReplyDelete
  61. Hmmm good point, lol. Some people might not catch some comedic moments from conventions/twitter/etc

    ReplyDelete
  62. I sooo miss Dark Angel :( I think that had to be (outside of SPN) Jensen's best role. I liked him as Eric Brady but honestly he was just perfect in DA. I think that they could have went soo much further with the show, but alas just like other shows it was not promoted well and thus was canceled way before it's time.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Oh wow, I loved that episode. I thought it was really good.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I...am SO looking forward to that, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  65. LMAO! I'm lovin the angst vibe from you. I rarely see it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  66. cough, Season 2 Review, cough.

    /evades outward flung arm

    ReplyDelete
  67. I voted unsure.

BECAUSE I REALLY WANT THIS TO BE AN AWESOME EPISODE. I wanna be able to vote awesome when the poll comes on here that night. But something might happen, I dunno. BUT I WANT THIS TO BE AWESOME SO MUCH.

J2 is probably going to play themselves goofy though, because they are a couple of goofy guys. I expect humor with some 'argh!!' fighting. Hopefully. And with Cas/Misha in the episode, there has to be some funnies. Especially between SamJared and CasMisha, they prank each other ALL the time on set after all.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I think it will be just an ok-tolerable episode. As long as no one breaks out into song I won't have to flip it to Fringe that night.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Alec was awesome. All the Dean snark, very little Dean angst. In my opinion, Dark Angel would have been renewed if they had focused on Alec and Joshua instead of Max. Talk about a whiny, annoying brat. She stomped on my last nerve and then tried to feed me it.

    ReplyDelete
  70. You bring up an interesting point. I'm wondering how much of the fanbase doesn't like Gen/Ruby because of Jared...which I think will be one of the reasons this episode might not fare well in the fanbase but might do well with the "casual" viewer? So even in the beginning this episode might be one of the least favorites because of bias. As I've posted before as long as no one breaks out into a Disney-esque type song I'll be fine with it.

    ReplyDelete
  71. So "French Mistake" Blazing Saddles style or "French Mistake" Urban dictionary style? Though both related, Blazing Saddles style would be much more fun to watch. Long live Mel Brooks!

    ReplyDelete
  72. WOW i didnt understand a word of that LOL!
So help 1 is a guy kissing an other and the other is ?

    ReplyDelete
  73. Some of the things theyve done would have killed any other show. This is a nice concept!

    ReplyDelete
  74. French mistake is from the movie Blazing Saddles. YouTube Blazing Saddles French mistake. Also it has come into the urban dictionary (that site is urbandictionary.com) and it lists 4 definitions for it...most a tad bit more harsh than kissing.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Youtubing....

shit. sorry. Well since the episode is about breaking the fourth wall I guess its related to the blazing saddles. but still, the spoiler about Misha really sounds like there will be male kissing

    ReplyDelete
  76. Maybe the kissing is the 4th wall and the rest is just hype?

    ReplyDelete
  77. The kiss can't be the fourth wall. The fourth wall is between us and the caracters

    ReplyDelete
  78. I've always been a Ruby fan in a "Love to hate" sort of way. She was excellent from a storyline perspective.

    ReplyDelete
  79. "They do realize we're brothers...?" "Doesn't seem to matter..."
    XD

    ReplyDelete
  80. I am all for this episode because Supernatural can totally pull this off. It is great that the writers want to be so daring and take the show to a whole new level. I think Jared and Jensen are going to rock this episode. Also, glad to see Genevieve making an appearance. I have read other posts and see some fans are concerned on how the episode will turn out but I am going to keep my mind open to seeing a whole new twist that the writers are throwing out at us.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I think, if it's done right, it will be tremendous! They know how to do this kind of story better than anyone. They have fabulous actors and they know how to do it. I can hardly wait. My question is will they both think before they try to knife Genevieve? lol

    ReplyDelete
  82. sounds good, but I HATE GC and think she is a terrible actress. Oh how I wish Katie was back.

    ReplyDelete
  83. One of the funniest lines of the show.

    ReplyDelete
  84. I'm not entirely sure about how I feel, but one thing's for sure - I can't wait to see how it's done! Is Jared going to be married to Genevieve (Ruby)? Will Jensen be in the same marriage in the show as in IRL?

    ReplyDelete
  85. This is a brilliant idea!! These kind of episodes can go really wrong but Supernatural has a knack of doing meta perfectly. The cast, crew and writers have never let me down yet and I don't think they will with this episode.

By the way, I'm just wondering what exactly does it mean by breaking the fourth wall? I've been hearing it everywhere but I have no idea what it means and its driving me nuts.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I think it is an excellent idea! Can you imagine Sam's (Jared's) surprise when he sees Ruby (his Gen) in the same room and what Dean (Jensen) will think when they discover in real life that Jared and Gen are married?! Oh, yeah, this is definitely going to be another awesome one! Can't wait! Anyone know a date when this will air? I have heard late February, but I am just curious.

    ReplyDelete
  87. They've done everything else already! I think this is just the next logical step from the fan convention and slash fanfiction. :)

    ReplyDelete
  88. hahaha.

I'm not gonna lie. It's not the review that I'm struggling for time for, it's finishing Season Two. I'm mega busy, but when I do I promise I'll write a review... in your honour as I know you want it so much :P

    ReplyDelete
  89. Yea I thought blonde Ruby was better too. She had a cute spunk. But Gen just seemed to fit with Sam better. I just couldn't see Sam hooking it up with blonde Ruby. Not that she's not pretty, lol, but idk, they just don't seem like a matched couple.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Awe :) Sorry, lol. I should stop bugging you. You're probably like worlds of busy. I'll tell you what...in light of the fact that I have exquisite chocolate nearby, and that I'm feeling relaxed, I'll forgive you for not spending every free minute of your life watching SPN...which is beyond understanding of course, however, it is forgivable.

    ...For now.

    o.O

    O.o

    ReplyDelete
  91. Wow. That's a really odd idea. I'm not real big fans of actors, any actors, but I do like the series. I really don't care what they do as long as they get rid of Lisa. Eric Krippe, as incredibly gifted as he is, really let me down with "Swan Song." Killing Sam and leaving him in Hell was just too much. Had the CW not picked up the series, it would have ended that way: Sam in Hell, forever, and Dean with that Lisa chick. Ugh. When the series does end, I hope it does so with Sam and Dean getting along, racing off in the Impala with the music blaring, in search of their next hunt. I hope their together and not married, dating, whatever. Please Sera Gamble . . . please?

    ReplyDelete
  92. I see. So you want a happy end. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  93. I'm still at awe that they mentioned both in the show. :D

    ReplyDelete
  94. That's the reason why I'm so excited for this episode! :D

    ReplyDelete
  95. It's a term from theatre: The fourth wall is the imaginary "wall" at the front of the stage in a traditional three-walled box set in a proscenium theatre, through which the audience sees the action in the world of the play.[1][2] The idea of the fourth wall was made explicit by Denis Diderot and spread in nineteenth-century theatre with the advent of theatrical realism,[3] which extended the idea to the imaginary boundary between any fictional work and its audience.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I wonder but wouldn't they need Danneel for the episode as well? Or maybe Jensen's wife will be played by a different actress. I read an article where Danneel said she has no plans to appear in Supernatural.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Katie's Ruby had the advantage of having a good storlyine in season 3, Genevieve's Ruby didn't get a lot of screen time and character development.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Well, if casual viewers survived 'The monster at the end of the book', 'The real Ghostbusters' and 'Changing Channels', they should have gotten used to 'Supernatural' doing crazy meta things. Don't you think? ;D

    ReplyDelete
  99. Interesting. Do you get a link for that? I'm just curious. :D

    ReplyDelete
  100. Fans complain about everything in this fandom. ;D

    ReplyDelete
  101. No that was The Real Ghostbusters with the convention. Monster at the End of This Book was the episode they first met Chuck and found out about the SPN books.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I also had a study of Brecht in my contemporary english lit class last term and the funny thing about it was that we were studying his work right around the time I heard the first whisperings about this meta episode (from a Misha Collins interview). I couldn't help but think that SPN were about to "pull a Brecht" in their breaking of the fourth wall.

    ReplyDelete
  103. It is a Ben Edlund episode. That was confirmed in the TV Guide article from when we won the cover.

    ReplyDelete
  104. The voice of reason! YAY!!! I am hoping and hoping that this epside won't be a blemish on supernaturals history (cough bugs cough) But i'm still cringing at the thought of an episode like this!

    ReplyDelete
  105. Heck yeah, I want a happy ending. I've been watching this show since it first came on, and the writing is just incredible. It really doesn't get the recognition it deserves. "Two heartthrobs fighting ghosts," that's what a lot of the critics dismiss it as, but it's more than that. I have an MFA in creative writing and would love to work on it. Season V, up until they killed Sam and left Dean with that yoga chick, Lisa, who incidentally is not at all pretty in my opinion, and I'm a straight guy, 33 years old, was incredible. Those episodes were just as good as anything on television that season. Anyway, yeah, I want a happy effin' ending . . . what's so "LOL" about that?

  106. I have a feeling this episode is going to have a lot of funny parts because, after all, it was written and conceived by Ben Edlund, our SPN resident comedian writer. However I also think that there's going to be a major element of seriousness too (just like in Changing Channels, funny but serious because it revealed the Heaven and Earth parallels finally even though fans had already figured as much). The meta references have been growing in number for a while now on the show and it might make sense for them to come out and say that certain characters have actually known all along that the world was fictional (Crowley for example makes I think the most references to the day of the week the show is on. It would be very funny if Mark Sheppard showed up again and is the one to reveal something big.) I definitely think it would be awesome if, like with the books and Chuck from season 4, this episode gives us some sort of major arc point and story development along with being outright hilarious.
I also can’t wait to see the reactions (in the show) to a certain guest star. Screw the fandom’s opinions though I’m sick of hearing people be rude and complain about her. So she was evil as her character in the show, that’s not who she is in real life, which is something I’m betting both Sam and Dean are going to have to realize before they make some sort of attempt to waste her.
In the end I just hope that people keep an open mind. If the episode really does suck bad (which I’m going to say I seriously doubt it will at this point) we can just ignore its existence like with I Believe The Children Are The Future, Bugs, and others. But SPN rarely disappoints especially when it’s doing concepts like this one.

  107. Well, because I think happy ends are cheesy and I fear that Sera and Eric walk more on the dark side on pulling another killing ending like 'Swan Song' when they're gonna end the show. ;D I want a kaboom-Wow-I'm-gonna-cry-my-eyes-out ending. But maybe, they will be nice since the 'Swan Song' ending was so epic and sad that they will give you a happy end as a series finale, right?
I don't get what so bad about Lisa. Are you blind? Cindy Sampson is hot. I would go gay for that woman in a second. Her son is adorable and she treats Dean like a wounded soldier. Dean never said that he was in love with her or anything, it was more about her offering him a family since Sam was gone.

  108. I think this is a gutsy move. It could be a disaster, but I'm betting that the writers at SPN and the Jared and Jensen can make this work. SPN is out of the box on so many things... why not???

  109. It sucked ... Now b4 I get slamed the hell out of for saying some smart a$$ remark like they would have been better off hop on a bike and jump a tank with a shark in it . ( and yes I pulled the happy days gag)
but they have a good back history and a rich cast of people they could have did a flash back with bobby and rufis . you get the idea give the cast the day off get a bobbie and rufis younger look alike and give me a good back history story on there first hunt or something that make me see rufis the hero and brother of bobby. And it would have saved me from the hell I went through in trying to find out what the hell was going on in (And then there were none) and I would have gave a crap to why rufis hates bobby now. And thats what the people that make this stuffup need to see . We the fans don't just love sam and dean. We love the cast. And history on other members won't kill us .
And if you think I'm wrongjust look at the shows that do this well. Like, Naruto, family guy, Psych,Eureka, And so on.....
    Love
    Peace
