Pulp - JJ Abrams' Bad Robot - Pilot Development

Thanks to DarthLocke for the heads up.

Is J.J. Abrams bringing Pulp Fiction to TV?

Not exactly.

Abrams' production company, Bad Robot, is developing Pulp, a crime drama set in a slightly heightened reality, not unlike Quentin Tarantino's neo-noir classic, TVLine reports.

Monica Breen and Alison Schapker, veterans of Abrams' Alias, Lost and Fringe, wrote the script and would serve as executive producers.

Bad Robot will begin pitching Pulp to networks next week, making it the fourth Abrams project that could receive a series order for next fall. His other projects are Alcatraz, starring Jorge Garica, at Fox, the Michael Emerson-Terry O'Quinn starrer Odd Jobs at NBC, and an untitled crime thriller with screenwriter Jonathan Nolan at CBS.

Darthlocke: Also on "Digital Spy" It was quoted and described as, "Pulp will be set "in a slightly heightened reality". --So I am under the impression that it will sensationalize the lives of the people in the drama, perhaps making it serialized and character driven?!

  3. More JJ pilots the better... one of them might hit the mark!

OK serious question- Am I the only one that watches LOST DVDs and will forward through the credit music but watch the "Bad Robot" animation every time?

  4. JJ, Please bring us something interesting again. And don't leave the project once it gets started like with Lost.

  5. I dont think JJ has time anymore to stay closely to one particular TV project. Back in the day when Alias was pretty much his only show, he had tme to hang around, but since Lost, his TV and film career has sky-rocketed and he has many fingers in many pies...

And besides, I think Damon and Carlton did a grand job without him.

  6. Completely agree. I think JJ is a brilliant IDEA MAN, but the day to day running of tasks and fleshing out of a series may be better in someone else's hands... like with LOST. From the DVD extras I watched it seems like JJ created lost but Damon (in the beginning with JJ and later with Carlton) worked out the details of the storyline and sub-plots. Alias was great i n concept, but seemed to meander a bit to me ESPECIALLY in the later years. I don't know if that is because of JJ or someone or something else. If LOST is any indication, the formula of JJ creating (or co-creating) and then passing the torch to someone else seems like it works out VERY well!!

  8. Oh, I totally agree that they did a great job!. It is still my favorite show of all time bar none. But I thought I read that Carlton almost quit the show because jj left and he felt overwhelmed and wasn't sure he could handle it. Did anyone else happen to read that?
