Glee - Gwyneth Paltrow back for 2 Episodes plus Lady Gaga Track
8 Jan 2011
GleeGleeks, I’ve got such amazing scoop that I almost piddled in my pants when I heard it so I can’t imagine how you’re gonna react: EW has learned exclusively that the phenomenal Gwyneth Paltrow is officially reprising her role as Holly Holliday for TWO episodes of Glee in the spring and she’s gettin’ it on with Mr. Schuester!!! Says co-creator Ryan Murphy, “Gwyneth is coming back for two episodes. She’s coming back specifically to date Will [Matthew Morrison]. Those two have become really good friends in real life and had really good chemistry. She’s coming back as a sex education teacher. Gwyneth and I are emailing, talking every week: What are we gonna sing? We’re trying to do something fantastic. So she’ll be [in episodes] 15 and 16. She comes back [to film] in January and she’s with us for three and a half weeks I think.”
You think that would be enough but I have even more redonkulous news: Lady Gaga just this week gave the Glee producers clearance for tackling her highly anticipated new single, “Born This Way,” which hasn’t even dropped yet! Murphy reveals that the song will be used in a March or April episode and will be centered around closeted gay bully Karofsky (Max Adler). “I love that that song is anthem,” says Murphy. “This show is by nature optimistic and I think a character like Karofsky could turn to booze or pills or alcohol and kill themselves or do something dark. But I also love Max and I love that character and I sorta want that character to have a happy ending.
So I don’t really know what that’s going to be, but I do know we’re going to do a whole episode that’s about that song.”
And there’s one more Glee favorite returning: Kristin Chenoweth. She will be back as April Rhodes in the last batch of episodes of the season for a multi-episode arc.
Season 2′s second half is looking awfully good and really, really blonde!

Cool. I think Will needs a girlfriend, and Paltrow really did do a good job as Holly. Plus, I've REALLY become annoyed with Emma this season.
ReplyDeleteAnnoyed with Emma, really?? Why b/c she moved on from Will....who might I add hooked up with other women when he was suppose to be in love with her. I was sick of the whole Will and Emma relationship when Will was being such a butt about Carl and Emma's relationship and Will doing crazy and rude things to get her back. I think they both need alternate relationships. Lady Gaga? Again? there are sooo many great songs out there. Why???
ReplyDeleteI couldn't care less about Gwyneth coming back, and about GaGa's song... they've done enough GaGa! Chenoweth's news are the best ones! She has an amazing character and she's an amazing singer... it's always nice watching her :)
ReplyDeleteNope, not so annoyed that Emma moved on, annoyed that she has alienated herself in order to do so. Missing the Glee performances, jumping into a marriage that felt like it was born more out of guilt than love, lying to Will, I really don't need to go on do I? Will did some very stupid things, and losing Emma was the appropriate response, but she's taking it a bit far.
ReplyDeleteShe's gone from trying to control everything about her life with her obsessive compulsions to allowing someone else to control it. I can't be the only one who has seen she has only traded one for the other. Will did a lot of not so great things to try and get him back, but she was also responsive to them. Anyone with even a basic understanding of the human mind can see the marriage is just her way of removing the temptation to give in to Will from the equation.
When she was merely dating Carl, she always just had the choice of breaking up with him if she wanted to give it another shot with Will, and I don't think Carl nor Emma thought it was a good idea to make that temptation available, so they place themselves in a situation that could not be easily changed.
Instead of merely accepting that she still likes Will, she's putting up obstacles between them in order to stop herself from giving in. In the process she's doing a really good job of destroying the supportive, nice character she was before. She used to support Will and the Glee club and think about things carefully. She's not doing that anymore.
That is why I'm annoyed with her. Carl's doing a pretty good job of "fixing" someone who didn't need fixing.
I love Gwyneth Paltrow and Kristin Chenoweth on "Glee", so I'm excited about their return. But Ryan Murphy, how about bringing back Jessalyn Gilsig as Terri, huh? She's still contractually bound to the show, but she never does anything, nor are there ever news about her.
ReplyDeleteI don't care about Lady Gaga, Paltrow, or anyone except for Max at the moment. I know the 'closeted bully' had been used for different shows, but really it's the only interesting SL for this season. Plus Max is an amazing actor!
ReplyDeleteryan's promised that he was going to write an amazing new storyline for her, and we haven't got anything! just a few special appearances that haven't changed a thing between her and mr. schue... the have been giving importance to guest stars (max adler, criss darren, gwyneth), but they can't give a decent storyline to a regular? how awful is that,,,
ReplyDeleteI did not see it that, but I do see your point about her trading Will for Carl. I liked who she was too with her little OCD self.
